I need a controller with a good D-Pad for PC, mostly to emulate shmups and run'n'guns on SNES and Mega Drive. I'm looking for good quality at a decent price.I usually use the Dualshock 4 and Switch Pro Controller on PC, but those D-Pads are awful. I also have an old 360 controller, but I don't need to tell you why that wont cut it. I want something with a D-Pad comparable to the NES or the GBA

Most d-pads are awful.8bitdos have this tendency to hit diagonals way too often. So do Dualsenses and such. Pretty much everything modern I've tried with rubber has some of that. Honestly, this might be pricey, but have you tried hunting for an original controller and an adapter for it? I swear to jesus I have an SNES controller with a wired adapter I bought a long time ago, all beaten up, and it feels better than a lot of these controllers.Of course you can switch to a clicky d-pad like those on the xbox controllers, but those feel like absolute garbage when you need to do constant fast inputs. They're more designed for shit like I don't know, jarpig menus.Honestly I second the recommendation to grab an arcade stick instead, a seimitsu one. It's much of a better experience for shcmaschups

Vader 4/5 pro controllers have pretty good dpads and they handle diagonal motions well. Alternatively Hori makes controllers designed specifically for fighting games that have good dpads as well.
