Starting with Star Fox. I don't get what is up with this franchise. All of its games feel like indie, they are so basic, I don't think any of them even released over the past decade. So who even hypes this franchise? Is it just boomers?

I agree with you. I could also ask the same thing 1:1 about the Metroid franchise, but at least in this case I understand that Samus is the hottest Nintendo girl, so people can't let her get faded into irrelevance I guess.

I'm pretty sure Fox is popular largely because of smash bros. Yeah we all played 64 growing up but he wasn't particularly cool or anything in that game. It was only when you got to see him on foot and in combat for the first time when people started seeing him as cool.

It must be hard to understand a Nintendo 64 game when you were born in 2010.

Nobody thinks Star Fox is a great series, the only game people remotely thinks is good is 64.

The rest of the """"nenown"""" is from furry coomers and Smash Bros. Zero is so universally hated that not even tendie cultists want it to be ported. Most people acknowledge the series is dead as long as Miyamoto keeps his stubbornness to never change a single thing about it, since 1, 64 and Zero are essentially the exact same story and premise. 64 gets a pass from everyone since it was a huge technological leap forward while improving everything from 1 and was a good fucking game, but Zero is just a shitty creatively bankrupt Gamepad tech demo apology released 4 years too late on a dead console that Nintendo refused to admit the Gamepad was a horrible idea that gimped the entire console for its entire life.

Eh, I think as 3D rail shooters go Star Fox did give me the best time.

The only good Star Fox game is Adventures

Earthbound and Star Fox are both only relevant because of Smash Bros.
These games were remembered fondly only by die-hard Nintendo fans until 64/Melee exposed them to a wider audience

Star Fox 64 was big enough and significant enough that multiple lines became internet memes into the 2000s. It had a lot of reach.

Metroid is a big deal because of its unique design principles that made it stand out to the point that it's considered a foundational game for its own genre.

Starfox started out as a tech demo for the super FX chip on snes. Then it was a tech demo for haptic feed back on the n64.
After that, there wasn't really anything to show off and it just kinda stuck around.

Kid Icarus Uprising is Star Fox but better

Star Fox SNES is also spectacular and has better music than 64.

Viridi is way hotter than Samus.
>>
The characters and potential for story and world building are the appeal. They should just focus on cinema fox. A movie trilogy and spinoff show would be more successful than any new Star Fox game.

I like Kid Icarus Uprising but the rail shooter levels are not as good as the ones in Star Fox. It succeeds mostly because the on foot sections are fun.
