What went wrong?
>Always online made the game feel like shit to play since it was talking to their server before doing any action.>No content>Too easy>Ass backwards to armor system
it was seriously undercookedeasier to say what went right
>>736360103Always online was the root cause, everything else could be reasonably ironed-out along the way>makes the game literally unplayable at launch>making a lobby/finding matches takes actual minutes>kills the community feel since the lobbies disband by default after a matchAnd all of that because they were scared of PD2 piracy - they got a dead game instead
>>736360103A furfag was in charge
>>736360103They made leveling dependent on weapon challenges, which meant that there was basically no reason to do silent runs. The lack of lobby chat in a game that has to be played online was also nonsensical.
>>736360103It would be faster to list what went right with it. The most egregious factor was probably that nightmare of a launch. They got rid of Crimenet for a matchmaking system that didn't work for over a fucking week, so no one could play with their friends or almost anyone. It's yet another case of a Swedish dev attempting live service game that rapidly ends up exploding violently since they work two days a yearViklund also not returning to do the soundtrack is such a catastrophically retarded decision, it can't be understated either.
>>736364067Simon hasnt made music for the Payday franchise in nearly a decade, he only came back for a bit during the last few Crimefests to voice Bain. Post-White House all music has been handled by different people. I dont think he wants to return either but hey, Sidetrack got Wolf's VA to come back to record more lines so maybe a return for Viklund is on the cards. The far more egregorious thing about this game is that every attempt to fix it on Starbreeze's end feels half assed as fuck. Crime Net is back but connection issues still persist, peer to peer is back but its only in beta (?????) and still very unstable, skill trees are back but half the skills are extremely overpowered and the other half are redundant or worthless and theres too much focus of pairing everything with throwables. The game also still looks like ass and content updates have been coming out at a crawl's pace because half the staff at SBZ is working on a fucking PUBG collab.
>make bank robbing game indie xbox live game>just tank it ala killing floor againi mean payday 2 was kinda fun but i legit felt i was talking to a chinese robot. that game is not polished or smooth and i didnt play 3 because i heard it was the same thing literallyalso someone posted itt:>no silent missions are necessary cuz its weapon chellengeswow sad
What do we do if Den of Wolves is shit bros? I just want a fun heist game I'm sick of playing Payday 2.
the universal truth is that 3 is always worse than 2, no exceptions. doesn't matter which genre, single player, multiplayer, old or new, 2 is either the peak or worse than 1 but better than 3 regardless.
>>736360103They forgot to pay their AWS bill for more than 99.7% of the entire launch week and a half. meaning that for a massive percentage of their first impressions, the game was entirely nonfunctional. When the tail end of the playerbase was finally permitted to trickle in, they quickly found out that there was significantly less content than pd2.even if you stuck with it, playing was painful because matchmaking takes forever, and lobbies are non-persistent, which means subjecting yourself to the full matchmaking timer every single round, which is essentially a constant reminder that you might as well just leave and do something else with your life
>>736366379>there was significantly less content than pd2Well, yeah. Payday 2 was a ten-year-old game with enough paid DLC you might mistake it for a Paradox game.
>>736365512DMC3 is unquestionably better than 2.MGS and FF are also series in which the third entry is generally more loved than the second.
>>736360103First impressions are literally the only impressions, and the game DIDN'T FUCKING WORK during that period. It doesn't matter if it works now.It doesn't matter if the other biggest complaints aren't in the game anymore. It doesn't matter if the game plays better than its predecessor. All anyone thinks of when they think Payday 3 is Nebula Server Error, please try again later.
>>736366609It does seem obvious that it would have less content, but when you put out a sequel to a live service game you are competing with your own game (among others). You know what you're up against, content wise and I don't get why you wouldn't at least aim to be close. As it is someone new comparing games would see that one of them has like 5% of the guns and maps that the other has, and before you get into anything else that's an easy way to make a choice.
I didn't like the music.https://youtu.be/v5sP_Ebs_-o
>>736360103It was built from the ground up to sell skins and most of the base heists sucked
