It's probably some kind of bug. Valve has corrected the data before. For example, the December data was obviously broken and then it was fixed a few days later.
Linux has been trending upwards for years and so last month probably would have shown an increase anyway (as would February if not for China), but this is too huge to be real unless there's some good reason that March 2026 in particular should have been the start of an unprecedented migration to Linux.

That's the only visible problem. It doesn't tell us anything about whether the overall Linux percentage is correct. It might not be.
The two bugged labels in the Linux breakdown, "64 bit" and "0 64 bit", add up to 25.61% of the Linux user share. If we remove these — which may be appropriate if they represent double-counting of users who opted into the Steam RT3 beta or some other fuck-up — then it puts Linux at 74.39% of its current value, or 3.96% total, which is much more reasonable if you extrapolate from the last data that wasn't fucked up by China.

linux doesn't seem very fun to use. and really the only issue with windows bloat is on install.
