I beat VII for the first time last month and it was fine. Literally all the good shit is front loaded and the rest gets bogged down by the inane bullshit that plagues all PS1 RPGs that wish to be deep because they watched Evangelion.Anyway, best story is Tactics.

This is a copout answer, but with the exception of 15, I can find value in all mainline FFs. Not just the plot itself, but the world and setting in general.Every FF feels like a big deal, so I can't help but always look forward to the next one. It's just fun for me to speculate.What will the setting be like, the characters, the combat, the music, even just the Amano illustration for the logo.Anyway, I most like the stories of 6, 7, 9, and 10. Basic bitch opinion, but whatever. I also find 8 interesting, but the whole amnesia orphanage stuff kinda sours it for me.
