I remember renting that back in the day and being very disappointed because Secret of Mana was one of my favorite games. Wasn't a huge fan of SD3 either because combat felt so sluggish compared to SoM.

They redid all the backgrounds but not the sprites and it looks like shit, other than that it's not terrible

Play it, it's the best fucking mana game, it's unlike any game you played, pretty sure the remaster has an option to use original backgrounds too

NTA but I have such a soft spot for the Seiken Densetsu series but I never seem to play them much. Final Fantasy Adventure is the only one I played all the way through I think. For Legend of Mana, I only ever hear people saying it's the best shit ever or the coldest dog turd.
