Some part of me thinks that the story got rewritten halfway because things don't really make sense.

That's why she didn't turn and her gene sequencing came back a perfect match in the biolab. If the sealed Elpis vials were destroyed somehow, Spencer's "blind hope" would be Grace, and Elpis could be extracted and synthesized from her blood.

Probably the 2nd worse game in the entire franchise next to RE6. Game loses all steam the second you leave the Care Center and it never picks back up. Just a slow decline for the rest of the game. Leon's sections are a joke & the spider fight makes no sense as a callback considering it was scrapped from 2r (campaign was clearly designed with Jill in mind before they swapped to Leon after his commercial success in 2r and 4r.)

Then you get to on-rail action sequences as ridiculous as RE6 (the only time in the game dogs make an appearance.) Grace becomes essentially as strong as Leon once you hit the lab section. No longer is her section survival horror, but instead you just kill everything. The tension that exists in the Care Center never comes back. Leon's RC section is just straight up boring. They didn't even add any new enemies, mechanics, or anything. You just get even better guns to kill the already pathetically weak zombies with, except the combat system is somehow worse than 4r despite the fact that they just fucking put out that game and had no reason to AT LEAST not re-use some of the melee combos. All this retardation without ever even getting to the absolutely retarded retcon filled story.

Holy fucking shit this game was such a letdown. Honest to God one of the worst RE games ever made, which is such a shame, because the Care Center is better structured and paced than anything in all of RE7. It just all goes downhill the second you leave it and even Leon's sections in the center are short & boring as shit. The success of this game will do irreparable damage to the series if they try to lean into its "success."

Leon plays great but it feels like you barely have time to mess around before you get to the bikes, and by then there's relatively little of the game to get through that isn't short, linear combat sections and boss fights. I'm jonesing for a mercenaries mode just to have more things to shoot, even on Insanity the game never pressures you as much as it did in RE4
