Why are these games still unsurpassed in their genre?
battlefront is fun but conquest is kinda mid. too close to a musou for my tastes.
I was under the impression the lord of the rings one was a mod for battlefront 2 and not an actual separate game, maybe I fell through I time vortex and landed in a divergent reality.
>>736383129Because they weren't bogged down with loot crates or faggy extras - they're just fun games that are exactly what they say on the tin
>>736383129modded BF2 (EA) is better than the originals
>>736384028This. You buy the game, put it in and have a blast with your friend. No FOMO season meta garbage.
>>736383129Because I just want ride a tank to the enemy base, capture their point, then use their own vehicles against them. EA's reboot completely missed the mark because they don't understand this for some fucking reason.
>>736384382Does this have singleplayer? or is the multi not dead??
>>736384028>>736384917Close but not quite. The secret is instant action with bots.
No epic battlefront webms?
>>736388103>The secret is instant action with bots.Yea that's what you played with your friend ...
>>736390231What made these games so special and beloved to this day is how you can have all the same fun without friends.
Wish Conquest was on Steam
>>736392182>friendless behaviorI played a lot of Battlefront Instant Action and had a great time with it on my own, but I don't think I would think of the game half as fondly if it weren't for its splitscreen multiplayer.
>>736394260this but the two towers game for ps2
Conquest was so bad it killed Pandemic.
>>736385991I got the EA one a while ago for $5 and had a decent enough time I did notice some things that annoyed me though>someone is always playing as a fucking hero and they’re too strong>excessive meta progression in cardsStill had some fun though
The battlefront games are both simple with their class design while also being unique enough. The fact that every faction had a different loadout for their basic soldier class but each one also felt fun is a hard balance to strike. Not to mention the special classes. The only classes that suffered were the BF1 clone engineers because that shock gun is pretty shit and BF2 Dark Troopers losing their perfect spreadshot gun for... a slightly better version of the shock gun.
>>736385991>>736392182The "chaos" factor in these titles was new and cool for a lot of us. The fights felt immersive, being a lone pleb doing what you could amidst the giant battles was fun.
I like how you're a disposable anonymous grunt in Battlefront. It feels like most action games these days are all about power fantasy or competition. Battlefront is low stakes fun.
>tfw no game has actually expanded upon the fun that is galactic conquestThe pieces are there for a truly great 4x game with Battlefront-esque ground battle system.
>>736383129Tha LotR game was trash.
>>736390231I grew up with Battlefront and had a blast despite having played it exclusively solo (I lived in a country where you'd get physically lynched by other kids if they found out you played videogames)
>>736397234This, Battlefront is the most casual party game of shooters and I love them for it.Not sure why but the EA ones just feel more sweaty and tryhardy even though it's the same premise.
>>736396571wrist rockets are so much better than everyone else's thermal detonators though
>>736396525>>736399968My experience with EA's Battlefronts:>spawn>no idea where to go>run the whole way to the objective>nothing happens>get killed by some pixels in 1 second >respawn and repeatThis was never a problem in Pandemic's Battlefronts. I always know where to go in those games and the action is never far from where I spawn.
>>736383129is is really weird that no-one bothered to make new games after battlefront. I really liked battlefront and battlefront 2, so it's kind of sad that devs all just gave up on making new games
>replace laser guns and tanks with archery and horses>it sucks nowgee i wonder why
>>736383129Am I having a false memory or was there a tatooine level where everyone could only play hero characters? I remember picking grievous and mowing down bots with his running attack
>>736404893That's real, it's the Heroes vs Villains mode from the second game
Command posts are some of the best objective designs in gaming.
To this day, I still want a 40k version of Battlefront II
>>736401821Yes and no, map dependent. Grenade spam around corners is a nightmare compared to wrist rockets.
Why were the bots in these games so good? Like they were competent but not toooo competent. I feel this kinda balance isn't common anymore.
>>736408648Not the first one, they are pretty braindead. The second game however? Holy shit, certain bots make my blood boil.
>>736408770Yeah specifically 2, I should've been more clear.
>>736394260just emulate it. you can even play coop like that.but god damn is it shallow. that must have been the last game pandemic made, as it felt so underbaked and uninteresting. playing as frodo and hearing him scream about how he's invincible and he's never giving up the ring is hilarious tho
>>736408302i love cp
>>736409784(:^O)
>>736408302What about control points in TF2?
