what's the last released game you played that you felt truly immersed in, just sinking hours and hours into the world? I think mine was RDR2, which was ages ago now. I'm trying to rekindle my love for the hobby and see what new games are worth playing, I've been tuned out a few years.

Satisfactory consumed my life for the better part of a month.

Both were fun, but neither really grabbed me

I'm trying to pull away from puzzle games since I've been playing a lot of them, I want something more world-based. If that makes sense.

Thats fair factory games are basically puzzles.
If you want something world based thats a wide open range of game types. From minecraft to xcom.
Stardew valley. Starsector. Against the storm. Vintage story (the game not the mod) are all things that could consume you.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but Cruelty Squad has worldbuilding that's really interesting to me. Learning about the culture of the world through dialogue and equipment and the mission objectives and the different environments in the levels, it's cool. The music and the visuals feel really schizophrenic but the game is pretty coherent underneath that

The only 2 games that ever REALLY immersed me was RDR2 and Skyrim. KOTOR sort of did it too.

Do you really mean "immersed" or do you actually mean "engrossed"? They aren't the same thing.
