>>736387653Agreed. 2D Sonic games are all about playing with physics, the way Sonic controls requires mastery to do cool stuff with it, but you can always play slowly and carefully and have an easy time. Levels can be straightforward but you have multiple routes and objectives for replayability. All of this applies to 3D Mario too. By comparison, 2D Mario games are fun but mostly linear theme parks with some good platforming and Mario's move set is really basic. Just like 3D Sonic. But 3D Sonic also manages to screw up a lot of times by doing things like adding annoying gimmicks (big the cat) or being buggy messes (Sonic 06).
