Not really, losing your gear hurts double as much getting it feels good.
You cant do some contracts solo, way to many waves of enemies.
And if your team doesnt want to help you with the contract, you have to run after them like a bitch.
Bungie forces you into a threadmill, even if you just want to have some fun PVP, certain faction upgrades seem mandatory, and it feels like shit when you dont have them and lose to someone that does.
Higher jumps, stronger meeles or a bigger meter for running, higher cooldowns on your skills.
All of this shit i have to put up with.

The balance is completely fucked, the matchmaking is fucked....

The game just is just bad man.

No. A pvp live service game relies on a large audience people fighting to even exist, and this one is collapsing as we speak.

It has some appeal to people who actually liked Destiny's PVP. It has obvious critical flaws, and is completely repulsive to single play, particularly at higher levels.

Bungie's people are unable or unwilling to recognize or fix these flaws. Even the addition of Rook was super late in dev cycle and it shows.

You really need a team of 3 and you really need to love sweaty PVP. That's the game vision. It appeals to types who don't mind say losing a dozen matches in a row vs a stacked team in CS. And it appeals to people who style themselves as hardcore, but don't have the mech or tech to do it in an arena shooter or at any actual competitive game. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That said, I can 100% buy that the actual hardened core of Marathon's fanbase are blind Bungie fanboys who care more about getting the Destiny 3 that they've made up in their minds than they do about Marathon. Most of the support that this game gets just doesn't feel sincere. If a game company is producing bad/mediocre games, you need to learn to let go. If you reward them for shitting on your plate in the hopes that they might possibly make the thing that you actually want, what's more likely to happen is that they're going to realize that they can just sell you a neverending flow of shit on a plate. Conversely, if they fail catastrophically, that'll cause chaos that'll almost definitely lead to changes in the leadership structure, core figures splintering off, etc.

The game punishes in really harsh ways and that's reason enough for most to bail out.
It's hardcore but it feels unfair and random much of the time. There's also the aspect of spending a crazy amount of time and effort in filling up your goodie bag only to have your ass gauged out by a team of exfil campers, or just a bad encounter.
