It's a mediocre GoW clone that doesn't play to the strengths of GoW or good action games in general. You'll quickly figure out how worthless your options are so you just end up spamming Cross beams for 5 hours or so.
Scythe weapons are almost always fucking shit to pilot. Probably because it’s not a real weapon and would be completely massacred against a poleaxe. Even the way the grim reaper swings his scythe on tv, it’s mostly for dramatic effect or he just holds it. Swinging a scythe for farm work looks fucking retarded too because it uses so much lower body strength to balance it.

Kratos has a lot of different ways to grab enemies and fling them around the arena or at other enemies. DI barely had any environmental play and the grapple based gameplay is non-existent in the favor of spamming Cross Beam since all your other normals are garbage, especially on VH and without any upgrades.
