I remember playing this as a kid when it was one of the free games every month on Xbox live. I never really touched the series beyond that. Is 1 and 2 worth it and how was 3 received? I remembered that it didn't really feel connected to any previous story and I don't think there was a Fable 4.
>>7364031933 is the worse Fable by far, and it was received really poorly. They completely dumbed down the game with the "road to rule" progression.Fable 1 is the best, and has the best atmosphere, especially with the newer versions.Fable 2 is still good, but its less of a fable game than 1. They add a lot of features though, so its definitely worth it.Fable 3 got butchered like you wouldn't believe.Story wise, fable 2 MC is the long lost descendant of fable 1 MC. Fable 3 MC is the direct heir of Fable 2 MC.
>>736403193Fable 3 is just fable in name only. Fable 1 is the actual Fable experience and Fable 2 was a good sequel even if theres a lot of people that like Fable 1 more. No one really likes Fable 3 compared to the other two. Fable 3 isn't a BAD game its just no where near Fable 1 and 2.
>>7364031933 is generally just a worse version of 2, this was the worst Molyneaux has been in terms of promised ambition compared to reality where a lot of the shit he tried to gas up for the game either just ended up being something recycled from 2 or just flat out worse. 1 is a solid game but I have a personal soft spot for 2 considering I love the criminally underutilized colonial period even if its main story kinda sucked and it had some dumb mechanics.
>>7364031931 is still worth, either version.I think there was something to 3, it was just unpolished, maybe even unfinished but it had some ideas and the story isn't half bad.2 is maybe my fav, i hear you can emulate it these days.
>>736403526Road to rule would've been fine if there were consistent time jumps and warnings. It basically sprung the last day on you before you were ready. The system itself was fine.
>>7364031933 rightfully got a lot of shit, but it's not unplayable or unlikable by any means. There's definitely a lot of likeable aspects and neat ideas that failed their landings.1 & 2 are worth playing if you like the story and setting, but in terms of gameplay they're honestly all pretty shit. Only play 3 if you're still craving more after that.
I enjoyed mostly everything about Fable 3 except the weapon system. On paper, it sounds like a neat idea. In reality it just means all of you weapons end up transforming into the same fucking thing every playthrough. It homogenized the design of every handgun, rifle, sword, etc. I think it was also just a way for Lionhead to be lazy and not design unique gear or rewards for completing quests. Also, the graphics were a massive improvement over Fable 2's. It wasn't a shiny, plastic mess with bloom all over the place. And, as buggy as its implementation was, I really did appreciate the new, "touch" interaction system with NPCs. In all honestly, despite the terrible weapon system and some of its other flaws, I still vastly prefer it over Fable 2 to this day. Fable 1 > Fable 3 > Fable 2.
Fable 3 was the first time I fell for molybolyboys lies because I didn't really pay attention to the lead up for 1 and 2 and just enjoyed them. I was bummed you couldn't visit more countries besides Aurora (because molynohjbjhvjj said you could). Fable 3 was disappointing but I don't hate it. I think they spent most of the budget on the voice cast.
>>736403526>They add a lot of features though, so its definitely worth it.This is honestly why I prefer playing 2, although the first game is admittedly a far better story and balanced drama and satire really well. I like being able to play dress-up and not having to physically pick up gold for landlording.
>>736407836My biggest problem with 3 is that they utterly squander the whole actually leading Albion thing. I remember previews talking about how it was like an entire second half of the game and how in depth your decisions would be and how things would change once you became king/queen and it actually meant fuck all.
>>736408048Yeah that too, i fell for it. I think there's like 10 royal orders or something. Like damn throw in some random criminal trials or dumb taxes like chicken tax or lemon sitting penalties or SOMETHING
>>736408048It did have an impact on postgame at least, if you don't have enough money to fund the war effort you lose basically all the NPC's except the unkillable ones like guards.t. drained all the funds at the last second
Why the fuck would they get rid of the expression wheel
>>736403193>Is 1 and 2 worth it and how was 3 received?yes believe me and it’s not just me having some nostalgic soft spot for it.. even now playing it the only way I can (xbox cloud for pc) the feeling is still SPECIAL, starting with that music <3 I honestly love itit's probably the best fable!
>>736408194I got so mad because it gives you the same fucking warning everytime you make a decision on the throne. But the last decision doesnt warn you its the last one and it skips a giant chunk of time and throws you to end game and hits you with a bunch of choices costing a shit ton of gold. I would have waited an extra hour, I owned every fucking building with Max rent specifically to be able to pay for everything.
>>736407131>Fable 1 > Fable 3 > Fable 2.probably bait if not, whatever...
>>736403526fpbp
>>7364031931 & 2 are really good. I've never played 3, but Angry Joe hated it, for what that's worth.
