The worst you can say is that a game felt uninspired or maybe not challenging enough but you cannot say any of Mario's games are bad. Even the most criticized titles in Mario Bros U and 3D World are still good games.

There used to be many games like it, being made for people who really liked the original game and want something exciting and challenging again.
