> NOOOOOOOOOOO! You can't develop supporting characters and let the plot move beyond my heckin Star Fox 64!
You’re arguing with made up people in your own head son
>>736404829Sure you can, welcome to the Mario universe.
>>736404829Star Fox 64 was interesting precisely because the plot wasn't very well developed and it left a lot for you to wonder on your own about the galaxy. For example, we never see what Zoness looked like before getting turned into an ocean of sludge, but we don't really need to.
>>736404829Who doesn't like Pigma dying?
What do you mean? I loved Assault, flawed though it was.
>>736404829pigma?
No one thinks the post 64 games are bad for taking the story forward. They think they're bad because they play poorly. Hope this helps.
I refuse to play Assault until all on-foot segments get deleted.
Krytstal pretty much sucks as part of team Starfox though. I don't care that you like her, because you think she's sexy.Nintendo also straight up stole that character from Rare.
pigma balls
>>736404829Assault isn't perfect but it's the only Star Fox game after 64 that you can really call an acceptable sequel. It also has the story tone and voice direction they should've continued with going forward.
>>736407243Zero is borderline great, actually. It's just a shame the controls are cumbersome, and they decided we needed gyro copter stages. The voice direction is also terrible in Assualt. It sounds like no one is trying, compared to how lively and expressive every line in 64 is.
>>736404829>Lawnmower Pigmabased
>>736405148Well, we do in beta screenshots
>>736404829I don't even know what this is. I assume it's from Star Fox Assault, in which case I never got past the first on-foot mission because it was so anti-fun I couldn't stand it, especially with how absolutely mediocre the flying missions were to begin with.
>>736404829Strawman.
starfox fans don't like starfox
>>736405854do not resist you have been warned
>>736404829>let the plot move beyond my heckin Star Fox 64!it's fucking Pigma
Killing off characters isn't developing them.Assault's biggest fault story and tone-wise is that the Aparoids don't talk, so the good guys have no villains to play off of. Compare that to the hammy bad guys from 64 and even Zero.
>>736407582they like seeing starfox take it up the ass from falco and wolf though
>>736407582there's an ever raging war between people who like good video games, and people who care about the characters because they'e furries. When you see people praising these super mediocre games like Assault and Command, it's usually the furries, because these games went hard on character stuff.
64 was a coming of age story for Fox. Divorced from the context of being a young rookie leader avenging his father, Fox is just kind of nothing. He has no personal stakes in anything once Andross is dead.
They really shouldn't hold back Krystal's precognition ability in this game, in my opinion.>>736407682I thought the villain NOT being Andross but a space locusts is a nice touch. You can't negotiate with them, it force you to team up with the villain, and there were sacrifices or fighting your allies in parts of the story.
how to make a star fox game that'll sell 30 million copies:step 1 - make a halo gamestep 2 - slap star fox characters and vehicles onto itstep 3 - teen rating so you can include cartoon violencestep 4 - throw in dedicated arwing stages
>>736404829Who actually believes and defends this other than Miyamoto?
>>736404829how the fuck did they manage to undersell these fucking cool ass machine fusing robot bug antagonists that can turn people into machines and crash the franchise?
>>736408174>and crash the franchise? That would be Command. The fact that it did well on the Gamecube is a miracle.
>>736407421>The voice direction is also terrible in Assualt.Shit taste. Post disregarded. Kill yourself immediately.
>>736407908why would people not just play Halo (which they don't do anyway)?
>>736408271they sound like they just went with the first take for everything.
I know how to save the franchise. Give the next game to Project Aces. You're welcome.
>>736407575But do we need to know the "lore" of Macbeth? Why is the train there? What are they doing there? Is there a point to knowing anything more than "You're going to attack the enemy base?"It's more interesting that it merely exists and allows you to imagine what and why. All the shit in the game is cool because it needs no explanation. You get just enough info that it makes the gears turn in your head. This is the same "fill in the gaps" effect that you see with low-res/low-poly graphics and low-quality/limited-sound channel music.Star Fox doesn't need "fleshing out" of anything. All it needs is more stuff that exists just because it does. Someone thought "wow, this would make a cool idea for a level" and did the bare minimum to justify why it's there, and that is more powerful than any hours-long Youtube video essay that tries to analyze every single pixel and every individual byte of the game looking for meaning that isn't there.
>>736408174Dunno, I thought the Aparoids were mega-cringe; between the multiplayer focus and all the actual deaths in the game (mainly Peppy suicide-bombing with the Great Fox, something I thought was triple-cringe), I felt like SF was trying to switch to a different fanbase out of nowhere, like they wanted to become more SERIOUS and MANLY or something.I'm sure that has nothing to do with Halo 1 exploding the vidya market roughly 5 years prior and Halo 2 double-exploding the market a year before Assault, and Adventures being rated poorly probably made them think "man, they must not like kiddy stuff anymore!"The whole thing smelled super off to me, and I really disliked it. Assault is still my least favorite of the SF games I've played. Heck, I even liked Adventures as soon as I mentally wrote the game off as a Zelda game.
>>736404829Could a Descent-like in the Stafox universe work?
>>736408702Star Fox 2 kinda did that, even if those segments were a bit short.
Assault is the best starfox game when you are not an StarFox fan. And yes, im using the term "StarFox fan" in a despective way here
When's episode 3?
>>736408526The planet being named after a Shakespeare tragedy tells you enough, but the game calls it "Venom Army Supply Base", so it's a clearly a weapons manufacturing facility, blowing it up cripples the enemy forces
>>736404829
>>736407786>When you see people praising these super mediocre games like Assault and Command, it's usually the furries, because these games went hard on character stuff. No the furries are the ones who hated assault. They hated assault and praised command because command damn near irrepairable to Krystal's character. Furries are the ones who want to keep star fox at 64 and only there.
>>736412286Not him but Assault has a scene with Fox on Wolf's ship. How do they not like that?
>>736404829Assault was boring for game design reasons and weird monologues or moments between stages of characters chattering away in very weird melodramatic methods. It wanted to saturday morning space opera anime and a lot of fans bounced off of that. Personally I just thought the gameplay wasn't very good and mission design was boring as dogwater on top of more boring aesthetic art choices. But Assault was fine enough and anyone can still hop into it versus the retardation that was Zero.
>>736412337Krystal was still there, remember Starfox furfags are anti Krystal.
>>736412384They can cope that Krystal wants to suck Panther's dick.
>>736412415Even that's not enough. Command proved it it wasn't enough.
>>736406698Severely underrated post
