It's like Red, Blue, and Leaf all went off and had their adventures a few years ago but didn't contend with the actual plot of their games, leaving the Team Rocket storyline for the new protagonists to handle. The story is more akin to Yellow version, as Jesse and James are present and occasionally fight you (their Meowth does not talk).Wild Pokemon catching is not based on battling, instead involving actually throwing the ball and the catch rate now taking your marksmanship and timing into account. However, a few Pokemon still need to be battled to wear them down enough for the balls to start working. Pokemon XP is provided through successful captures and is thus vital to your levelling efforts. Better capture technique provides bonus multipliers. The game also has co-op play, which is pretty decent for playing with your sibling. The other player takes on the role of the opposite gender protagonist to the one the main player selected. I really think they're twins. With the second player present, battles become 2v1. Actual 2v2 battles aren't a thing despite there being a few double battles against NPCs scattered around, as the second player gets booted from the game when these fights happen. That's really annoying.Co-op play extends to wild catching, with a special mechanic that rewards synchronised throws that provide a significant bonus to the catch rate and merge two different ball types into the one with higher value.

It sold 20 million, and that had to all be physical. LGPE has sold about 10 million, and only a little more than half of that was probably physical. So in the purest sense of a remake, I did like it. And it got a lot of bonus points with me for not censoring anything. The swimmer designs and dialogue are all the same as far as I know.
