How is roblox the highest profiting game in history I don't get it

It beats every gacha, even casino gambling

Imagine flash games, but 3d and multiplayer and with the lego/minecraft appeal of building stuff.
Then add skins and microtransactions.
>>
>>736407619
>>736406723
Not just skins and microtransactions
PLAYER CREATED skins and microtransactions, where Roblox shares a cut with the creator
So they basically do zero work and an army of both literal children and chinese/indian slave labor are constantly churning out new content at arbitrary prices that the toddlers playing the game don't care about.

Bootleg toothless model? That'll be fifty bucks, kid.

Most of gen alpha and a good deal of zoomoids are ipad babies, which means they're utterly fucking retarded and addicted to the worst brainrot slop the world has to offer, due to their completely fried dopamine receptors.

Gen alpha are definitely addicted to short form content but please stop repeating this bro science dopamine shit. That's not how dopamine works and endogenous levels don't cause down-regulation. Buying a skin does not teleport cocaine into your body.
>>
>>736408145
It isn't bro science, it's real. Zoomoids have no attention span because their dopamine receptors are absolutely fucked, they must always be doing fresh, new thing for the stimmies. Source: I live with two of them and they are utterly dependent on roblox.
>>
>>736406723
Roblox is actually operating at a huge loss and is basically 100% propped up by investors who see huge playerbase numbers and nothing else, it's why they've so anal about optics and age restrictions as of recent and why there is no possible hope for any competitor to them without taking a huge gamble

>It's free

>I live with two children so I clearly understand neurobiology
Your kids are dumb because you're dumb
Dopamine doesn't do what you think it does
Endogenous (look it up) levels of neurotransmitters don't cause down-regulation.

Early attention span issues related to screen time are caused by physical developmental differences in the brain, not transmitter dysregulation, and we don't know if the differences in size/activity in those areas are temporary or continue to impact development

Call it.
>>
>>736408525
I'm going to assume you're a bot, because any human capable of reading would understand that I am in no way defending Roblox by calling out your retarded Joe Rogan South Park pop sci trash.

Roblox is basically child labor, child gambling, and a pyramid scheme all rolled into one.

Think of the worst, most horrendous grifting scheme you can think of.
Now think of it but with child labor and kids as the primary audience.

There's no sugar coating promoting kids to make games on their own and deal with the communities they create from their games, while not even in High School.
>>
I do find it strange how Roblox is apparently the most played game ever but you never really see anyone talk about it. I know I'm an unc but something seems off here
>>
>>736408916
I understand the bro science you "learned" from south park
It's wrong and retarded

>>
>>736409019
I work in a school and kids talk about it constantly. Steal a Brainrot in Roblox was the most talked about thing for a month.
>>
>>736409092
Why does nobody on 4chan talk about it?
You would think there would be some people here that play it just given the numbers. Are they trying to act too cool or something? are they ashamed of playing a "cringe" kiddy game? I'm an out of touch old man so humor me
>>
>>736409019
Because everything on the platform has to be designed for brain dead toddlers, as in the gameplay needs to be so barebones you can both master and play the game as well as (if not better than) someone on PC, on a phone. The threads caught a schizo when they're posted here, but I know that Dandy is talked about from time to time somewhere on /vg/ or whatever other side /v/ board.

Ultra gigantic massive player base
The most predatory nickel and diming to ever exist that violates multiple laws in many countries, but because it's done in "instances" by people submitting channels it doesn't get addressed/tackled appropriately.

Sheer size + the most aggressive monetization that ignores the law = lods of emone
>>
>>736407962
The fucked part is despite that, Roblox is in the red without injections of money from investors. Running servers for that many people is so insanely expensive it still doesn't turn profit.

We need insane optimization.
>>
>>736409138
Because Roblox isn't a game, it's a platform for gambling and stealing for children, and for adults it's a platform for grooming and scamming.
>>
>>736406723
Stay away from kids toxotranny.
>>
>>736409138
/v/ had a group from 2009 to 2016 when they removed tix, and that was the major pivotal point for roblox to just get worse and worse and people just stopped participating, and around 2016 the games changed from solo devs making something fun, or a small group working on something, to professional salaried teams churning out 10 games a week to flood the front page with copies of the same basic tycoons/incrementals/obbies, and that further decayed the experience. There's still a lot of hidden gems, some really insane and good stuff on there, from turn based RPGs to Napoleon era zombie games, to more, but 90% of it is copy paste trash with new paint, made by sweatshop teams.

Oh, to expand for those that don't know,

Roblox originally had two currencies, Robux and Tix.
Robux is the "Premium" currency you could buy, and being a member got you robux daily. If people bought your stuff with Robux, you got the robux.
Tix was the "Free" currency you got daily, and when people bought your stuff with tix, and also whenever your place got a visit, you got a tix. It was a good way to create a free player economy and also was a "Free" way to encourage people to make games and engage with it, as well as allow for customization for free players, and selling stuff for tix was still valuable because you'd have stuff to spend it on too, some of the hats were VERY expensive and required you to sell things, or having popular places with lots of visits, to get enough tix to afford, the daily allowance would never be enough.

But, you could exchange Tix for Robux. This was nice, it let you get some more premium things if you cashed in your tix, but, when Roblox let you cash out your robux, it basically let people bot places and get tix to then exchange for robux and cash out, instead of cutting off the tix to robux conversion, they simply got rid of tix, completely killing the F2P ability to customize your character and otherwise engage with the economy, pivoting entirely to a P2P economy, and enabling only allowing people to engage with games via cash purchases using robux, no longer allowing tix purchases. People are absolutely ravenous and so the robux purchases were always extremely aggressive to appeal to kids, and snag them.

So the "In it because I like the game" players stopped playing and the "I want to make money" types took over, and it was LUCRATIVE, it's a really good deal, there's roblox dev millionaires like the Grow a Garden guy. For most people it's just enough to sustain a South East Asian dev team sweatshop.

Very interesting, thanks for the explanation.

I'm surprised I never hear more about the intricacies of how the marketplace works or just Roblox in general. I guess 4chan's userbase really is just aging out. Despite it s being monetized in the scummy way it's been, the fact is it's still sucking up a ton of attention from the younger generation, perhaps at the detriment of other games. None of this really sounds particularly heathy for anyone involved and just makes the market seem way more volatile if so much focus is centered around one kind of game that may subject to some sort of government regulation in the future
>>
>>736409138
I played Roblox for the first time about a year ago. There are some cool and interesting games among the mountains of shit, but I felt weird engaging with the culture because I'm a grown man among literal children, so I stuck to the singleplayer experiences. I imagine it's the same feeling for engaging in discussion online about the game. It's just not our place, and anyone trying to force themselves into that space is likely looking to produce some child porn

This looks like shit
this is what I find most baffling about everything around Roblox
All of the aesthetics, they all just look fucking dogshit. I know it's all fan made stuff but it just looks like some ripoff game. And not in the charming old school "low quality" flash game which still seemed to have more effort given to it.

I don't doubt that there isn't cool shit in there but I've personally never seen it or had anyone share it with me so I just have to take people's word for it. From the outside looking in, it all looks so shit.
>>
>>736406723
90% of the games the goal is to bully other people
you can use roblox coins to more effectively bully other kids
bring back bullying in schools and roblox will cease to exist as the amount of bullies always far exceeds the number of bullied

>instead of cutting off the tix to robux conversion, they simply got rid of tix, completely killing the F2P ability to customize your character and otherwise engage with the economy
I don't really know that much about roblox since I'm not a child or pedophile, but I think that makes sense in a "that sucks, but I get it" kind of way. If they had to divorce the two currencies because of botting then the free and bottable currency was going to become very worthless very quickly and probably just be a disappointment engine for people who think they can get something decent without dropping money on top of a general background headache to deal with.
>>
>>736409138
Same reason Fortnite gameplay isn't discussed here. I don't know.
>>
>>736412621
I understand the problem with botting/mass account creating and just farming off them, which does devalue the "Expensive" stuff, but Roblox also changed their market to pivot away from official hat merch (Users could make shirts, pants, "t shirts" and a few other things, but not hats at one time) to user generated hat merch, and, so the allure of the "Fancy hats" that were a million tix started to fade (Although still hold a special place in the culture as an old relic) as people could just make and sell much fancier/gaudier stuff, but, as it shifted to UGC, it's too bad they didn't continue to allow users to choose to sell their stuff for Robux and/or tix, like before, you could choose to only sell for Robux, or also for Tix, and for a lot of people, they were fine making (simpler) stuff for tix because they liked the "Fame" of making something popular because it helped them then push their premium lines. It basically bucked the whole of F2P markets and customization, which is a bummer, rather than letting users pick and choose what to sell for, on the understanding that if they sell for tix, they won't be able to convert it.
>>
>>736413760
I don't disagree with you at all, anon. I'm not into roblox but I know well the disappointment of shit getting worse for monetization's sake. It's just a shame that all the cool shit you could get for the free currency got ruined because it could be botted. But given the choice between "just cut it" or "find a way to deal with the bots" I don't begrudge them for picking the easier option.
