>>736408510One minor NPC in Chrono Trigger, Belthasar, creates a massive convoluted plan for Serge to go across both parallel dimensions to collect pieces to create the Chrono Cross and confront Lavos who escaped death by merging with Schala and exists in some sort of time distortion. Using the Chrono Cross in the correct order causes Lavos to unmerge with Schala. The ending doesn't really explain a lot but it's assumed that Schala ends up okay.All the dumb retarded shit, like the dragons, the future city that got displayed from time, and the whole maguffin that let Lynx swap bodies with Serge was all according to plan.

The actual story is too convoluted for its own good and most other aspects of the game aren't great either other than the music, the general atmosphere and graphics which are superb. Most of the blame goes on the director for okaying having 40+ playable characters in a JRPG, like this where even 10 playable characters is pushing it. It really feels like they focused on flavor text as opposed to the main plot for most of the game. I understood what was happening. I just wish it was more like Radical Dreamers and focused on Serge, Kid and Gil and maybe like 2-3 more party members.

I was terrible at comprehending stories in games when I was a kid. In Chrono Cross my only driving force was the character collecting aspect. Every replay I have done of PS1 JRPGs felt like a different game.
