Zach Cregger describes his Resident Evil film as "completely different" to previous Resident Evil films. His Resident Evil has been described by test audiences as the Fury Road of Horror. A 90 minute "all gas, no brakes" experience with zero downtime where the protagonist rushes from one action set piece to the next with minimal exposition as they try to reach a destination in Raccoon City before it's too late.

Cregger has explained how his film is completely different to the previous films by saying that his film is "completely different" to previous films, which he also clarifies he has not seen. It would appear that Zach Cregger has finally cracked the nut nobody else could crack: Turn Resident Evil into a non-stop action film with basically no plot beyond "reach location". It really makes you wonder why previous Resident Evil films, known for their slow pace, elaborate dialogue, rich characters and lack of action never thought to make a movie that's just 90 minutes of running and fighting.
