Perfected Strike is a completely valid strategy all the way through A10 act 3 in STS2. Pommel Strike is way better than Compile Driver since the draw is unconditional and you have strike synergy in general with clad with hellraiser and perfected strike.

Parry should thematically(and to better effect) give you passive block if the sword is in your hand at the end of the turn. Then you're, you know... fucking parrying with the sword. And it helps give regent time to build the forge for the big hit that his build likely trying to do in most fights. That or give block whenever you forge. Either is better than what the current philosophy of the card is right now, which is "play the killing hit and then get block afterwards." Truly makes no sense to me. It will help you sometimes in multi-enemy fights but not even that much.

If the game is unbalanced now and they can make it balanced while they plan future content, why not make the game more balanced now so it's more fun to play currently? A lot of shit that needs changing currently would need changing with new acts and shit anyway because some cards are just total dudders and others are OP with the character's own deck regardless of the opponent. Making new acts probably won't throw shit out of whack too hard so the work done towards balance currently will likely still hold value. Game dev usually has different people working on code and art at the same time, so the balance changes probably don't mean that actual content is being released any slower. Either way, it's such a commercial success that they can afford to take their time. They have enough of a track record that players should have some faith they'll deliver eventually. I've had multiplayer runs as Defect where everybody else was taking loads of damage and I was the only one full blocking everything. Especially during one run where everybody else had died but me and I clutched the win against Decimillipede. As for that run it was

And then it just came together from there. I was very reliant on TURBO+ though, and since I only ever saw one that entire run I needed to loop it alongside AFO, so I invested in Hologram+. Noticed I wasn't exactly relying on orbs so I took Bulk Up+ too. Problem was that I had so many 0 costs at that point that AFO was overflowing my hand so I couldn't do everything I wanted with it. It does turn out that Adaptive Strike completely counters Doorman's exhaust phase, which helped me contribute some damage for a change

This is the most fun I had with Regent. I had the power which plays the first card twice, and innate sealed throne, so every card played gave me 2 stars. Particle wall was free. I also had the powers that deal damage and make block on gaining/spending stars, and stardust, and vigor. It was glorious. Stardust is one of my favorite cards in the game.

Another use of souls is just basic deck manipulation. If you have nothing good left in your draw pile use souls to whittle it down so you can reshuffle. Alternatively don't use it if a critical card you need is in the draw pile and you don't have the energy to play it.
