>>736425942d then a if not possible
How do you beat Rocket League?
>>736425942Some combination of B and E and then (especially for B) lose motivation and AAlso after E I usually forget for a while to turn it back up after I get past the segment that was giving me trouble
I mostly power through it. I rarely drop games because of their difficulty. Once in 5 years I may look up a guide.
>>736425992Perhaps you should play a hard game then.
>>736425942I want to do A, think about B and end up doing DI usually regret it and wish I did E instead
>>736425942>G: barrelmancy
>>736426140I'm sort of in this camp too. If I have to look up TOO much stuff I feel like the game's not for me. But if I have to look up 1 encounter among 100 then I consider that okay.
>>736425942Most old games have continue codes. If they don't have that I create a pseudo continue system using save states.
>>736425942For the most part. I don't really get stuck in games because of their difficulty, but D if I had to pick. I can only think of like one game that I was actually stuck on single part for longer than a day. That being said, I have looked up strategies a couple of times for rpg super bosses that I couldn't be assed to solve on my own.
It depends on the genre. If it's an action game, seeing someone else do it probably won't help because I can't do what they do anyway. If it's a puzzle game B is okay for some of it, if I'm REALLY stuck, but should be used sparingly. If it's an RPG or some game that permits grind, D is usually the way to go for me.I rarely reduce the difficulty unless it's a genre I know for a fact I'm not good at.
G: drop it for a few years then come back to it after i spontaneously remember i stopped playing it a long ass time ago then play the shit out of it
>>736425942It genuinely depends on the game, cause I've done every single option here and it depends on what and why. Why would people only do one of these in their entire life?OP is a huge faggot.
>>736426510thisit depends waaay too much on the game, how invested i am, how much fun i'm otherwise having (before getting stuck) and how interested i am to see it to the end
>>736425942I've been unable to beat baba is you for like 5 years
>>736425942Well typically I hit a snag when I've been playing for way too long without any kind of break, so I take a break for a day or two enjoying other games and come back to it fresh, more often than not whatever I got stuck on, I tend to get through no problem somehow after a short break like that. I cant even understand why or how, you'd think playing it for long enough times in a row would only sharpen your skills, but personally I find that you just get fatigued of doing the same stuff for too long and start performing worse. Or at least thats my running theory, anyway if the break doesnt work ill resort to looking up ways to start doing better at whatever game im playing, like the tips and tricks that cover the basics, I typically like to play games blind and figure stuff as I go but they're the best way to pick up on some obvious basic thing you might have been missing without having your hand held through the whole game to get out of one snag.
>>736425942Most of the time D, and in very rare cases BThe only time in recent memory I did something else was in kingdom hearts where I fell for the nerf attack meme and couldn't get past tarzan or hercules, so I restarted and nerfed magic instead.
I personally don't really play games for the frustration. If I can't beat a segment I'll either drop the game or look up some help. If the game doesn't penalize me for it I'll also gladly go down a difficulty level. My time on this planet is finite and I'd rather not pick D if I can avoid it.
>>736425942I drop very few games, and I'd rather look up help than just consider it a lost cause. Also >>736426396. Save states aren't cheating IMO.
I kinda don't understand people who live or die on option D. Going through something grueling can be rewarding, sure, but you're playing a video game. A piece of entertainment. It's not suppose to be grueling for fucks sake.

>>736427848Would you consider it better to look up help? Like if you got stuck on an exploration game but someone had made a guide showing you where to go, is using that somehow beneath you and it's BETTER to quit?
>>736425942I've never encountered a game that merits quitting due to difficulty, though I always play on normal first. I've only dropped games due to boredom or "not feeling it". It recently happened with DMC4. I just wasn't feeling it. Might pick it back up in the future i guess. If it happened though I would be B if it's a puzzle, because fuck convoluted puzzles, and D if it's something related to skill. Everything else is for fags.
Depends on how far in I am. If I feel like I'm over half way I'll accept help, so B. If I feel like I haven't even reached the half-way point yet and I'm already in trouble I drop it.
>>736425942>Complain about bad game design. It can't be MY fault for sucking ass. It's the game's fault! Look I've beaten a souls like game, the pinnacle of game difficulty! No way any other game can filter me!
>>736425942D because I actually enjoy video games and designed adversity is the entire conciet of a game. I respet to B on the rare occasion that I just completely do not understand at a fundamental level what the game is asking me to do, but I haven't had that happen in years.Any other answer makes you a poser tourist who doesn't actually like vidya and only plays them for the social connections.
>>736425942F: Cheat Engine.
I'm still stuck on that flaming demon or whatever in Sekiro. I had played it a lot during that week and so once my parry-finger hurt too much, I uninstalled it.Six months or something have since passed, and I've re-installed. Going to try to beat him again.So.... D, with a bit of F I guess.
>>736425942I've never had that problem
>>736428604I'd recommend not playing gachas on your phone and try a game that has some difficulty behind it.
>>736425942A if I genuinely cannot beat it. I'll power through difficulty sometimes and look up a guide as a last resort. If that didn't work, I probably hate the game too much to keep playing.

Literally never found a game I couldn't beat. Just power through. If it actually so happened that it couldn't be done no matter the hours, I'd probably just give up on it, but hasn't happened.

>>736425942I dropped undertale yellow when I couldn't beat the final boss on pacifist.
>>736425942Depends ENTIRELY on the context of the game. There are times where I'm just sucking ass, and in that situation, I'll just put the game down for a couples hours and come back at it refreshed. There are times where it's a legitimate challenge where artificial difficulty just does not apply and I just need to git gud, and at this point I will dig my heels in and grit my teeth until I am victorious. Sometimes I will be doing everything I can think of to try to mitigate damage, or maximize my damage, or debuff the boss, or buff myself, but if none of the above is working, I won't go and ask for help, I'll go to one of my friends and be like "Yo, I'm not looking for an answer, but I am looking for a nudge in the right direction." and I'll get an answer something like "Well, remember back in Area Y where you learned a few new skills/tricks? What did you learn there?" and it will usually "click" in my head and I'll try again and win.The absolute LAST thing I will do is just youtube the fucking result because then I'd be cheating myself. Fuck that noise. If I can't do it by the end of all of this, then I can't do it.
>>736431556I dropped undertale yellow at the janny robotsI fucking SUCK at video games
For me it depends on the genre.
>>736425942I have learned something about myself as I age. In the past, I would relentlessly soldier through and go online as needed. Game would get finished as if my life depended on it. But as an adult, while I play games with the intention of completing them -- it is no longer a priority unless I have hyped the game to hell and back and cannot afford to be spoiled by it through online discourse. But for the non-exceptions, when I reach "that part", I take a break and barely bother looking online unless I am at my wit's end and no longer having fun (looking online kills the joy of discovery and lowering the difficulty is a non-starter.) But "taking a break" unwittingly becomes "dropping it." Not because of difficulty, but rather because my breaks are no longer a few days, but stretch into weeks and months. "I'll get to it later." Because I get involved in other things, and I slowly begin forgetting the meta of the faux-dropped game along with the story details. My drive to return to it lessens, and it just gets "dropped." It becomes so long that I feel I should just start a fresh playthrough - which in turn, makes me want to play even less. Which is why I have recently made it a point to never take "breaks" until the game is done. Especially now that I am marathoning the Trails series. Felt that "break" kicking in when I almost got filtered by Loewe in SC. Two weeks went by and then I thought to myself >"Yeah, I know exactly how this shit is gonna go" - so I brute forced that shit and kept playing.lol
>>736432286Most RPGs shouldn't have breaks. They're not casual arcade games that are built to be played when you have a few quarters, they're suppose to be one long ride. So yeah, long-ass JRPGs like trails a prime example of option D. Powering through to the end is almost always more rewarding that the "few days rest" that turns into a "few weeks rest" that turns into "dropped".
>>736425942Anything but D is stop playing video games tier.
>>736425942There's no such thing as "can't beat a game" unless there's something wrong with it or you're playing some fucked up shit. It either takes more or less time to beat it.But I do use B for puzzle games, and A for action games if I don't care about the story (I usually don't)
>>736432467Exactly. My first "break" ever was Ni no Kuni back in 2013, which taught me "you can't do this shit with JRPGs." I can afford to put down a game like Soulstice or Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time for a while because they are arcade like and mission based. But story driven time sinks are non negotiable.
>>736425942first take a breaksecond give it more triesthird look up alternative strategies to see if I'm being retarded and missing something
i legit cannot think of a single game i've dropped because of its difficultymaybe baba is you but i can't remember how far i got through it.
