I watched the talk on how they did their global illumination system for doom dark ages.The guy seemed really on point like a proper id software engineer should be and throwing numbers around "bla bla cascasing shadows and we only compute those in the view frustrum and do a radius from the camera to set sub division details etc etc", "in turn we can run the ligthing pass in 2miliseconds"then you play the actual game and you barely get 100fps on a 1000 dollar gpueither the artists are botching everything or the dude and his team fucking lied
