It reused the concept of tons of small micro "stars" from Odyssey but made two key changes to greatly improve the experience. First, the "stars" now level your character up, instead of doing literally nothing in Odyssey. Second, they made the movement much faster and more fluid. The combination of these two factors allow a skilled player to fucking bulldoze through the "stars" which, because you level up from them, feels incredibly rewarding, and because skillful play is what allows you to collect them faster, feels legitimately earned. It's a fucking rush just slamming around a level at super speed collecting moon after moon after moon then dumping it all into a bunch of ability upgrades. Legitimately genius game design.

At the store I get a lot of people buying Mario Kart 8, Minecraft, Smash, and Super Mario Galaxy. You can't play World on a Switch 1 though, so I assume a lot of those people don't own a Switch 2 and have no desire to buy one, so they just play Mario Kart 8. Smash is an old fucking game, so it's odd people still buy it to this day. I do get a lot of younger kids buying Nintendo games though, like I'd say 7-11 or something. I imagine a lot of people just buy the game digitally, unless you're autistic and want a physical collection. It's even more hilarious because we sold a lot of Switch 2's but we rarely sell Switch 2 games. People coming in for Switch games are buying Switch 1 games. The only Switch 2 games I see people buying are World, Pokepia, and Donkey Kong. Pokepia has been more popular than I thought, but it looks like something a lot of women would be interested in and the AC fanbase in general.
