Robert was similar on that regard, Conan saw through the lies of civilization and savagery, in The Tower of the Elephant and Rogues in the House, Conan can see the innate dignity of the wild in contrast with the cruelty of the civilized man. That doesn't mean Howard/Conan was naive, the savagery of the world is always lurking and will never leave our side, which is explored in Beyond the Black River.
