Only played remake so far and it feels like they started this thing 1 generation too early. PS4 held it back too much and it's just coridors. The PS4 was quite limited in a lot of ways.

Nobody wanted a meta sequel and the sales dropoff of Rebirth proves that. People asked for a proper remake and we didn't get one.

PS1 games are unplayable to anyone who didn't grow up with therm. Same goes for all retro games. If you don't have the nostalgia for the days of your youth to look past their outdated controls and presentation, they'll be completely unplayable. That's why FF7 had to be remade in the first place.

0 reason to play ff7 over the remakes in the year of 2026ff7 just doesnt hold up, the combat, gameplay, ui, movement and dualshock jank is all round unpleasant and awkward by todays standards. its not 1997 any more, move on
The entire remake trilogy will be forgotten after a month when it's finally done, doomed to only be discussed by the obsessive nohopers who cling to this IP due to an unhealthy attachment to the characters. The world will move on, but this dwindling group of autistic balding millennials will still insist the trilogy was a phenomenal success and continue discussing it like the shit movie that came out 20 years ago that nobody but them cares about.tl;dr: The OG will continue to be a classic, the remake trilogy will be tossed on the garbage pile like all other compilation trash.
