40 bucks isn't bad, and the DLC adds some new bosses. The game's main 8 bad guys are all good fights (the jellyfish is eh) and every boss has a Hard variant so there's a lot to fightPeople bitch about relic grinding, but these people are minmaxers. You can easily make great build just with the relics the game gives as part of quests or the set relics they sell in the shopI have more hours in this that I do Elden Ring because unlike Elden Ring, I can just swap characters if I want to bowfag, or spell bitch, or unga bunga strength builds instead of respeccing and upgrading weapons and shit

I honestly thought the combat was the most fun part of Elden Ring. My least favorite thing about doing Elden Ring playthroughs is grinding caves and mines to get the build you want. Its great for the first 2 playthroughs but by the third its awful. sounds like I might finally just cave in and buy it. Fucking jews at Namco will never make it cheaper than 44 bucks

Nightreign is the most fun I've had with a video game in the last 20 years. I have like 700 hours. I only play with randoms as well. You have to play Deep of Night though, the base game is kind of boring.

The big negative that can disinterest you is that it's extremely time efficiency focused; you CANNOT play it slow like ER. I don't really care about speedrunning, but it's kinda fun to get good enough at the bosses/enemies in these games to do them both quickly and consistently, so the game is a good choice for me but it may not be for others.My only actual complaint about the game is that there's too few map seeds, so considering map seeds are locked to individual event/nightlord combinations you can start to recognize every seed if you get stuck on a boss for a bit (which I did for solo Balancers, mostly since they also made their night bosses gank fights for shits and giggles)
