Understand that it takes actual perk investment to be able to do things, focus down on critical skills instead of spreading your perks thin. After about level 20 your leveling slows down and perks become more rare. Character level will not help in space combat, only your ship parts matter for that, if you level up your character but neglect your ship then you'll get trashed in the first 2v1 dogfight. Ground combat is just right on max difficulty, most enemies aren't bullet sponges and you have to utilize cover instead of face tanking everything.With the exception of Andreja, the Constellation companions are by and large insufferable faggots, it's best if you treat them like shit and avoid doing things that increase their affection for you. Don't take Constellation to be representative of all the questlines or follower NPCs, the rest of them are fine. The Hero Worshiper companion you get from a character creation trait is worth getting IMO, he has a ton of voice lines and some of them are actually funny. Pretend the black people are TES Redguards. It makes things easier, trust me.

>>736451028I haven't even gotten any decent Legendary weapons with modifiers, I've just been using the stock weapons and upgrading to better quality versions as they become available, and I can shred 9/10 enemies in a POI. It's usually just the one "boss" enemy that has four health bars that takes longer to kill, but even then it's nowhere near as bad as it was in Skyrim when you'd run into a random bandit that oneshots you.
