Iroh genuinely cared for Zuko and was scared of the dark path he was going down, which is why Iroh tried so hard to steer him away from it. Zuko had a lot of childhood trauma and the way he was raised. Iroh was famous and had a lot of influence in the fire nation, and even in other nations. The biggest clash though is you have an angsty trauma-infused teenager with his own goals traveling with an old, wizened man who just wants to drink tea, soak in hot tubs, paint, and relax. Iroh should have just retired, but he probably also realized that Zuko had nobody else in his life to show him the right path. Iroh was the only grounded/sane one in the family.

Azula got the short end of the stick. Her mother was afraid of her and let it show which caused her to move closer to her father who actually didn't give a fuck about her except to groom her for power. Once zuko left her fate was sealed. I wish there was an epilouge where her friends and possibly zuko at least attempt to reconcile and reintegrate her in fire nation society.
