It does, you can go up there and burn the windmill, the boss Mytha is in an area behind the the tower, you go through a long hallway to find her then after you kill her, you go through another hallway that takes you to the elevator, i don't understand why so many mouthbreather latched on to this when it can easily be disproven
>>
>>736456607
You know what I mean.
The elevator isn't actually connected to anything on its own, you just load into a new area that can't possibly exist, considering the distance that you travel to get there. It's lazy as fuck. Not to mention the orange skybox that's not seen from anywhere outside.

>>
>replace the elevator with a teleport

>>
Ds2 has a mansion with an elevator that leads to mountains in the sky with dragons and no one ever brings it up instead retards focus on the one tower that actually makes sense design wise
>>
>>736459009
It even worse when you look at the collision map
>>
>>736459009
The point is that the scope of the layout is fucked up. DS1 doesn't have this issue. Yes, you could explain how it's SUPPOSED to function but it's not how it does. The game literally switches scenes mid elevator ride. You're expected to believe that you travel an elden ring map worth of distance in 15 minutes,
>>
>>736459859
I just showed you how it's laid out. Earthen Peak is under Iron Keep
>>
>>736460056
So the only way into the keep of the region's king is through a random woman's bathroom?
>>
>>736460056
It's not. It's not the actual layout. Also your schematic doesn't even make sense, you'd literally have to have a mountain with an active volcano be hangin in the air.
>>
>>736456183
>THAT'S RIGHT COCKSUCKER! GO BACK TO THE THINGS BETWIXT!
>>
>>736460226
You're not entering the keep of the region's king, you're entering the dilapidated ruins of his keep

>>736460350
It's not an outcrop at the top of a mountain, it's just a slice of the topography. Earthen peak is functionally underground, it's just that the cave is so big that you can't really tell

Except you don't travel shit.
You walk down a couple of hallways, ride an elevator for 30 seconds and get magically warped into an area that can't logically exist that close to where you were.

>>
>>736460853

>>
>>736460702
Most of the distance is parkoured in the back of the tower numbnuts, the elevator isn't at the top of the windmill but in it's rear side and it's not a 30 second ride, the bonfire from the windmill to mytha is between two long hallways

No it's an open-faced cave. Basically like a giant hole in the side of a mountain. And on top of that mountain is Iron Keep.
>>

Yeah I thought about it afterwards and Elden Ring has powerstancing as well. Also I didn't play the DLC for DS3 or for Elden Ring, they started taking too long to come out and I had my fill of the games before then
>>
Is it silly? Yes?
Do I subscribe to the post-hoc rationalisation (ie "cope") that Drangleic is a place where undead lose all sense of self, time and location, resolving the Iron Keep problem? Also yes.
Time and Space are convoluted, and you lost your connection to reality when you entered the ghost whirlpool at the start of the game.

DS2 is in an interesting position. On the one hand, loads of people are complaining about it, on the other, it’s the most iconic game in the series, with most of the modern features coming from it. DS1 and Demon’s Souls were completely different games in every respect, and DS2 was the one that finally established the foundations of the series. When you play them now, you realise that they’re just normal games and not difficult at all. Demon's Souls in particular doesn't feel like a Souls game in the usual sense at all, and it's actually really easy.
>>
>>736456183
I could tell at the start of the game that the perspective was obviously less realistic than DS1. In Majula you can see heide's tower miles in the distance but if you take a short jog on the path in the cave you are instantly there. However Earthen Peak was just such a grevious use of perspective shift, taking an elevator in to the sky on top of a broken windmill and ending up on a volcano was a hilarious "wut" moment for me

Is it a bad time to point out Dark Souls 2 is set inside a dream much like bloodborne? Everything follows dream logic short only of falling teeth and urgency to find a place to pee. You are inside an illusion, it is in the intro.

Wow that's fucking lame and gay. Time travel is much cooler.
>>
>>736474118
Honestly I'm more willing to bet that it's more Drangleic became sort of stuck in ruin and time, and it took the right circumstances to reach it. The protagonist time traveling, the various discordant matters, are more like a sub-reality or a memory of the world that simply is utterly fucked up beyond all belief, but the kingdom existed and you're fighting through the world memory.

I don't really care about the transition, but it's undeniably a kinda mid level, like most DS2 levels. The DLCs are cool though.

>>736474118
The truth is that at least one location was cut. Earthen Peak were supposed to be the end of the line and Iron Keep was supposed to be in a completely different place
I wonder if any of that was eventually reworked into DLCs, DS2 feels too unfinished without them.

Dark Souls II implies itself, and certain characters basically spell it out, that Drangleic is a discordant fuckery that makes no sense even in-universe anymore from all the curses and chaos, but it's that one meme that stuck because people act like it's some sorta "only real fans know" gotcha.

Earthen Peak would've been a side-section.
The idea was that you'd activate the windmill to blow the fumes out of Harvest (actually Pooling) Valley and proceed further towards Undead Crypt (yeah, I know that this sounds retarded).
It's why there are Grave Wardens in it where even the official guide is wondering why they're even there and why the wind is blowing and your cape is moving AWAY from the windmill.
There's also an unused stepwell in the old mesh data of the valley that connected to some temple-esque entrance.

>>736460680
If we're going to see another full from the ground up remake (ala Demon's Souls Remake, not Dark Souls Remastered) it'll be Dark Souls 1, not Dark Souls 2.

Whenever they do these remakes they don't do it to the flawed gem that could be improved by a remake, they do it to the one that is already a success, aka the one that was already fucking perfect and doesn't need a remake.
>>
>>736459009
This is actually sensible and I like this idea, but it doesn't look like that at all in game and the transition is terrible and rushed. If they had actually finished the game, this could have been a really cool sequence of areas where you eventually scale your way up to the upper levels of earthen peak and realize that you're in a massive open cave once you're high enough to see past the smog. DS2 could have been so cool ffs, but I guess they weren't capable of providing a sense of scale to the world while having a bunch of different areas totally separated from each other instead of in big layers like Lordran

It does however, mostly reject DS2's ending for its own structure regarding linking the fire.

>yeah bro just imagine big mountains behind the windmill and it starts making sense
>>
can any of you meta gamers tell me why there are a bunch of blood stains of people comitting sudoku on the hallway leading to majula

Retards will draw their headcanon mspaint maps as if we can't just look at a 3d map viewer and instantly tell that is not how it is in the game lmao
>>
>Boss is in pool of poison
>Various pharros lockstones around the area
>Go through effort to get more lockstones
>All I get is some lame water fountain
Ended up just slamming through the boss with my greatsword but that was the point where I realized I wasnt enjoying it much anymore.

Yeah, it's like a kilometer behind the windmill.

yes

I’m convinced Old Iron Keep was originally supposed to be connected to Forest of the Giants. There’s the fire theming and reused enemies between them
>>
>>736485463
Its funney. DS2 players actually have fun playing the game. Better then getting twinked 24/7 at the high wall in ds3
>>
DS2 shit level layouts are still better than DS3 bonfire teleports everywhere
>>
>they dont know that the protagonist is losing his memories while playing and thats why the world is dreamlike and disconnected
why do you autists crave realistic.. geography in a fantasy game so much anyways
>>
>>736485618
>DS3 bonfire teleports everywhere
DS2 is the one who started this trend. The world is littered with bonfires as much as 3. Even worse sometimes.
>>
>>736485574
That makes sense, especially given how you go down a literal firepit and the turtle enemies were very prominent in pre-release FotG marketing material, just for two of them to appear in one corridor in the final version. Until SotFS added a bunch more.
>>736485618
In DS2 you teleport everywhere as well.
>>
Demon’s was the best one.
>>
>>736485675
>the world is dreamlike and disconnected
Cope. I like how you added "dreamlike", there's nothing fucking dreamlike about it, you could say the same shit about dark souls 3.
>>
>>736485675
DS2 has the most dream-like feel of all souls games.
Shit not making sense doesn't bother me at all, I'm here to have fun. Replaying DS2 is more fun than replaying DS1 for sure.

>it has better lighting mechanics so this means the textures and models don't look like putrid shit
Can DS2 fags just fuck off already? Did a youtuber make some clickbait video praising DS2 to farm views, is that why you fuckers have been uppity lately?
>>
>>736485675
The game does't articulate it artistically. They even made a throwback to it in BB where a snail girl falls from the sky on your head because the hamlet is directly above the cock tower. THAT's how you handle this stuff.
>>
What happened to the Flames of Old lighting mod? Is that still in development?
>>
>>736456183
From the thumbnail I thought this was some kind of faceless woman showing her fat ass
>>
>>736484785
It's about the absurdity of the transition, you braindead gorilla.
>>
>when your game is so good you have to spend a decade defending it against even the most basic criticism with made-up headcanon nonsense that is never reflected or mentioned in-game and trying to convince others it's a great game because you can break doors (this is never relevant to gameplay btw)
>>
>>736460549
They should make it harder and add even more ambushes. I love dark soul 2 but god dam the game just hates you. That's what makes it endearing.
>>
>>736485930
It's dead, Jim.
Now we are waiting for PT mod.
>>
I don't think a fanbase represents middle child syndrome any better than DS2 fans
>>
>>736485470
nobody had the 3d map viewer back when the game released and complaining about level transitions not being true to real life traversal is what mental retards do
>>736485930
the guy is still streaming on twitch but he never dropped any further info in the last 2 years o
>>
>>736456183
Remember when ds2 blocked your way to the castle with some ruble and there are still retards who come here and say that level design is good.

this but unironically

the story literally tells you everything is fucked up. DS2 does a great job of messing with you with shit like this. They don't shove everything in your face. It is a slow drip with interesting suprises that can be easily missed
