This game was a 6/10, it ranks in the same place as revelations 1.It's a decent RE but you will probably never revisit it because it has too many "those parts"
>>736456621Condolences for your shit taste, contrarian
>>736456621It truly is fucking mid. Completely overblown praise for this mid game
65 hours plus and still playing. Did standard classic for 1st run. Insanity no bonus 2nd. Speedrun casual 3rd. No damage/blood collecter standard modern 4th. Bonus weapons and Final Puzzle fun run on standard modern 5th. And now I’m trying out insanity speed run strats to see if it’s any fun to run 6th.
>>736456621"that part" for me was the first 2 hours. I nearly refunded it until it suddenly got good once it just lets you play the game.
>>736456621>first playthrough>game gets worse with each ensuing area following the godlike care center>still had fun>second playthrough, speedrun challenge, no healing challenge, pretty easy, but a lot of 'ugh' moments>want to do an insanity playthrough with infinite ammo just for the the achievement and to get the mr racoon statues (plan on doing a real insanity run later)>start thinking about all of 'that parts' in the game>realize the game is literally nothing but nonstop 'that parts' when i think about it>put off my third playthrough indefinitely, to date i still haven't done it and have no desire tothis game and the positive perception around it 100% will age poorly, and very clearly did not get the full 9 year cycle or whatever it was between the director's last game (RE7) and this one. I'd say it probably had a solid 2-3 years of active dev time to get it out in time for the franchise anniversary. it was so damn frontloaded, you can tell they were just adding shit as they went along, including leon. so many things are not iterating on what was great in re2r, re3r, re4r, and re8.it's actually similar to the dragon quest franchise. different teams on different schedules all working on their various games. this means really good additions that one team makes (DQ2D-HD Remake) are not applied in the next game in the franchise (DQ7 Remake), because it's all just different teams doing their different things concurrentlyit would take a longer time to get games, but the quality of resident evil games would benefit if there was literally on 2 teams working on them, where they look at what the OTHER team did that's good and bad, and learn from it
