>>736457257Is this your attempt at a board game thread?
I am allergic to board games. Take this filth to /tg/.
>>736457257If you really want a board game that's great to solo I have a curse for you.
>>736457257Splendor is cool, but too fast paced for me. I always lose. I tried getting into Seven Wonders Duel, but there are ao many rules I always get confused and lose by mid-game. Any simple 1v1 games you recommend? Preferably with a dedicated app amd a large community.
>>736457385>my first time playing 6-handedThat shit tool me hours but it made my brain tingle in a fun way that I cant get when I play it with my tabletop group since there arent enough boards.
>>736457385Tfw no demon to play spirit islands with
>>736459721Yeah, six is too much for me. I like 2 handing. Seeing how the spirits really interact with each other. Some day I want to make a little Spirit Island series. I know it'll get 3 whole views but I really want to try a 3 handed climb to godhood. 3 spirits, one chosen and 2 random and just step my way up through adversaries increasing the difficulty each game. I'm still too chickenshit to throw down with England-6, but that would be a fun final boss after clawing my way up there. Maybe some day.
>>736461328That's another thing that's a bit tricky, my group has varying amounts of skill so each of us excel at different types of games. Just because the game is coop doesn't mean they're having the best time wrangling with the puzzle that is spirit island, it's hard for me to table it too often and I definitely can't do any high difficulty stuff with them unless I break the rules by applying lower difficulty adversary levels to "their board" but that doesn't always pan out since some spirits roam onto other boards and Scotland decides to fuck 1 player over in particular.as a solo game there's a ton of stuff to sink your teeth into but I don't think I could fathom doing multi-hand with the group unless I'm the only one doing it while the others pilot just 1.tabletop sim and the digital adaptation have been a godsend for speeding things up though. doing everything by hand gets really fiddly with some spirits or adversaries.
>>736457385>solo gamesWe can go deeper. More autistic.
>>736457257So nobody knows anything like Splendor but 1v1 by default, and popular enough to play at any time of the day just like you can do with chess.com or colonists.app?
>>736457257Splendor is a lot of fun. I bring it every magic night at my friends place or my lgs. Theres def a huge skill gap tho, super easy to stomp newer players
>>736465296What strategy do you use in every given scenario? I always lose. With or without expansions. Even if I get a crazy good headstart, I always lose in the end :(
>>736457257The duel version is very very different from what I remember
>>736457257Splendor, unfortunately, has a set opening which pretty much guarantees victory if your opponent doesn't play against it. It was also a FOTM (or maybe Flavor of the Year) and was forgotten sometime after that. Perhaps it isn't surprising there are few people playing. It's also mostly a pick-up-and-play game, while most people who visit a website are more interested in trying out games with more complex rulesets. This doesn't really stop people from playing Catan, for some reason, but in general the simpler games are less played in big online boards.
I just play Race for the Galaxy against bots. Fucking love me some Race. Also I dabble with Onirim which is a purely solo card game. The app doesn't have all the mini expansions which sucks because I like the one that adds the lost soul but it isnt in the app. It's my fave card. Look at this poor guy, all lost and scared in the labyrinth. Still, there is a metric fuckton of deck shuffling in Onirim and it can get tiresome with a big deck full of all the expansions.
You guys don't have friends to play boardgames with?
>>736457257Play TTS
>>736467428Chess is the simplest game ever and the waiting time for a match in chess.com is 1sec or less year-round, regardless of mode. I dont think complex rules make games more popular, but all the contrary. Catan is a good example, it is right in the middle of simple and complex, if anything, leaning more in the simple side.
>>736468954Playing in person sucks. Too many distractions. Too much "ackshually, I usually play it with these other set of rules." "You just made that up." No ELO. Game nights often are the boring, incel cope alternative to a night out at the club.Fuck all that. Digital is the way to go!
>>736457257>Buy Millenium Blades to play with tcg friends>group explodes due to thot A and thot B cheating with two members and starting a massive shitfest that pulls the group into 3 groups of severely bitter people>the guys never even banged the thots>just pure simp competing>rest of the group moves on due to life>never did play Millenium Blades with anyoneI miss having a group of friends to hang out with every weekend.
>>736468954I haven't seen my friends in person in over 15 years now. So no.
>>736469641>buy millennium blades>want to play millennium blades>can't play millennium blades because my group now has literal actual children walking around so we can't do anything that cannot be paused at a moment's notice, so no games with timers, dexterity, or many pieces that they can stick their hands onto the table to GRAB atI ponder if I should find a local game store to take this to in order to hold them captive to learn this game
Even if you dont have any friends you can always go to a Hobby Café in your town and play with the owners. Learn the rules of the game you wanna play before you go and challenge them. This is good practice, and nobody has to explain the rules, and nobody can fake ignorance and say "i didnt know that rule."t. constantly shunned and passive-aggresively treated (and yet not banned LOL!) at my local hobby café because I've beaten the owner every single time we've played Catan, Carcasonne, and Bloodbowl.
>>736469608I disagree wholly. Digital is filled with way more distractions, a whole wide web of them. In-person I'm always way more focused on the game at hand.
>>736468954One.>>736469608Those friends are dumb and the ones that whine about monopoly taking 5 hours to play. Axe the house rules. If you play by the actual rules that comes with the game, monopoly lasts an hour tops. But I do love me some TTS to play board games with my internet buddies but I fucking love physical games. Even if I'm soloing half the fun is in moving pieces around the board and drawing cards and placing tiles and shit. Love it. I'll solo Spirit Island with the physical game every day but I'm just not having a good time with the TTS version even though it automates a couple things during Time Passes. I wana feel the pieces and scoot them around.
>>736457257I used to play this with my siblings and mom, it's comfy.
