Why they decided Terminus Weapons should be locked to the gimmick boss fight that can sometimes fuck you over if the AI gets confused for a second is beyond me.

The game acts as a soft introduction to the main cast and the standalone story explains everything you need to know, you just wouldn't understand background lore details like how the final boss did all the stuff it did. Gameplay is extremely good in my opinion with all the cast feeling unique to play so the repetition isn't too grating until later, definitely worth it.
