There are too many games, so most probably tried a great game like Ys VIII but didn't beat it and so can't really say much. It definitely seems good, and there's a fun nude-humor scene after the girl you meet takes a bath, but desu I didn't care enough to keep focusing on this game over everything else that's distracting me. Switch port is bad. The textures and shadows are fucked on top of running choppy. At least it was native 720p. I bet it's nice on Switch 2 now. But the PS5 version is pretty great.

Old Ys was known for snappy gameplay that was fun and challenging.I would say VIII was the perfect balance of keeping adventure and gameplay at the forefront while expanding the story, but IX and X in some ways “Kiseki”fied Ys.X is still a great game though.If you wanna get into just pick one and go for it.

The truest of action jrpg jank.8 made me realize i prefer the og form switch combat Dana had than the new party system.I think a way to compromise for future titles would be Adol fusing with partymembers for new forms. That said coldsteel will always get more shit, YS is just too pure in comparsion.Adol himself is as blank as a protagonist gets, but its done so honestly that it kinda wraps around to being neat and means full attention goes to the new areas hes travelling. Adol had his big drama years ago in origins and first few games, by now he knows his destiny and we know how he will die. Its kinda like if link actually had downtime instead of just only existing when ganondorf does. Adol can just enjoy doing adventurer wanderlust shenanigans.
Dana was the last good Ys.

The side content having voiced scenes and lore drops was cool as well.Music was pretty good, too, still listen to stuff like 'Those Who Live in the Distant Sea', 'If I Could Go Back to Those Days', and 'The Ultimate Pleasure in My Hands' daily.
