Didn’t Capcom say that they were “adding a free minigame” (most likely mercenaries mode) in May? Then making a paid story with no date given.

Looking at RE4R mercenaries was added in free update a couple weeks after launch (they also snuck in pay2win microtransactions at same time that went largely unreported), then got Seperate Ways as a proper paid DLC, alongside update to mercenaries with new map and new characters 6 months after launch.

RE9’s “minigame” is obviously taking longer than RE4R mercenaries, but it’s pretty obvious that mercenaries was just deliberatly held back so they could get a big burst of positive media reception after initial hype was slowing, and also immunise themselves against articles being written “RE4R now lets you pay real money to upgrade guns”. And it worked. The microtransactions didn’t get mentioned in any mainstream gaming news stuff. Game would’ve been dragged through the mud if they were there at launch, just look at Dragons Dogma 2.

I can almost garuntee RE9 is gonna get pay2win microtransactions, like all the previous games. But it’s gonna be nearly pointless. RE4’s were designed to bait people who were trying to do Proffesional S+ and unlock Infinite Ammo. But RE9 is like RE3R, where unlocking infinite ammo takes 0 skill, you can afford it doing only very easy challenges. And then use this infinite ammo to make the hard challanges a joke. Proffesional S+ in 4 was actually hard, and the pay2win tickets made it completely free. But Capcom is gonna sell them for RE9, even if almost no one buys them, it’s gonna happen.

They're never going to address Village's cliffhanger. In all likelihood Village was going to never come up in RE9, but they clearly ran out of time when rewriting the game's second half and so inserted a throwaway line about the BSAA.
It's pretty clear the zombie soldiers in the city weren't even supposed to be BSAA as well, since there's several dozen contradictions going on with what's being implied there. More likely they were planned to be something like Blue Umbrella or a throwaway Merc group that just had the BSAA label slapped on them. A lot doesn't make sense about it.

It's pretty forced and hackneyed, but the ending really seals it with how much blatant model reuse there is.
Hound Wolf Squad and the BSAA soldiers are just ripped 1:1 from a game from five years ago set in a completely different hemisphere with completely different weather (which makes the winter jackets on HW really stick out now). People call Village unfinished, but its ending was entirely made with unique original assets. But that's because it didn't have a severely troubled development.

Its not a timeskip. Each game is more or less set in the year it comes out. Leon is a rookie in 1998 (the release of RE2) and is now an older character in 2026 (the setting of RE9). Ada as a result is older than her appearance in RE4 (set in and released in 2004).

If it has Lily Gao then I honestly can't even begin to care. Ada is dead to me so long as that woman voices the character. Zero sex appeal. If I'm not turned on by a woman or excited to defeat/support/romance her then she shouldn't be in a video game.

Something about Requiem's difficulty really feels off. I can reliably get through almost every other RE without dying at all but for some reason I die multiple times every playthrough with Requiem, and it's always as Leon. I think I've only died once as Grace, and this is my 5th playthrough. I'm not even on Insanity, just Standard Classic.
