I remember some levels that take place outside during the middle of the day and everything is simultaneously super bright and completely grey and I remember it being physically painful to look at in a dark room. Most of it is fine though.

There's nothing that comes even close to Resistance on the PS2, maybe Black on the og Xbox could be close, not the PS2 version thouhg. Resistance does look like a next-gen(for the time) game even if the graphics weren't that photorealistic compared to later titles.

Was it the PSP game where the plot became, "the enemy wants to fuck you to turn you into a monster" or something? I swear I remember that plotpoint, but I last played it like 15 years ago and haven't touched any of the rest of the franchise since.
