What am I in for? I heard there's a really obnoxious triforce hunt that makes you mindlessly grind for like 3k rupees to even proceed with the rest of the game, is that as bad as they say?
>>736487441Last part did feel like padding yeah. I'm waiting for WW/TP remasters physical to hit NS1/NS2. It has to happen at some point...
>>736487551Is it worth playing the original Gamecube version of this game or the HD remaster?
>>736487441>is that as bad as they say?Not at all, as you're free to do this whenever you want when you get to explore. The problem is almost the opposite, most of the game is either a tedious and linear slog, or you trying to spend several minutes sailing from one island to another only to find there's exactly one things there you can actually even do.The Triforce hunt is actually one of the highlights.
>>736487441two tutorial dungeons that still repeat shit from ocarina of time (to show how not out of ideas they were by this time) and then a lot of bullshit, then two more dungeons that are mid-tier difficulty then the game is over and you wonder what the point of any of it was.
>>736487441The hate for this game is so forced. It's a good game
>>736487597It just takes more time, a few more hours. But I'm not that patient anymore which is why I'm... waiting. It's probably worth playing the original though
>>736487441Most of the time it's the best game in the series. That Triforce hunt part brings it down a lot, though. The best thing I can say is it's not that bad if you're doing side quests and shit at the same time.
>>736487692It's a good game, that's attached at the hip to a bad game full of time wasting bullshit.
>>736487760I'm used to long Zelda games so that's not a con for me, though I heard the HD version is a lot shorter.>>736487605>The Triforce hunt is actually one of the highlights.I've seen a lot of conflicting opinion over it, some like it since Windwaker is exploration based and others say it sucks and kills the pacing drastically.>>736487692I like the cute artstyle, surprisingly it hasn't aged one bit.
>>736487597The HD version adds obnoxious bloom
>>736487919>adds obnoxious bloomLike this?
It has cute bird in it!
>>736487909It's shorter because of the fast sail and the streamlined triforce hunt
>>736488132I see.>>736488076very cute
>>736487605People that get filtered by the triforce hunt are like people that get filtered by the chozo artifact hunt in metroid prime, absolute brainlets>"I gotta backtrack in a metroidvania? What is this bullshit?"The padding is much worse in skyward sword, that game is at least 10 hours too long, at least wind waker doesn't overstay its welcome
>>736487597>>736487919>>736488025you can turn it down/off on cemu no reason to play the gamecube one if you've never played the original before
>>736488450>no reason to play the gamecube one if you've never played the original beforeI thought the gamecube version was the original though?
>>736487597The HD version adds a few quality of life features, like a new sail that makes sailing faster and easier, and the Triforce shard hunt is trimmed down significantly.
>>736487597The original is better.
>>736488546I'll stick my guns with the GC version first before playing the HD remake, if it is as tedious as it soudns i'll still soldier through, tedious sections usually never spoil my opinion on a game anyway.>>736488575I have the game on my Zelda Collector's Edition which i'm assuming is just the Gamecube port but on the Wii
>>736487441It's pretty ok if you're three years old and never played a video game before, but if you're seeking a real challenge you might want to look at a harder game like Elmo in Number Land or something.
>>736488842>nooo you're discussing VIDEO GAMES?! b-but I hate video games!
>>736487441It's a "vibe" game, like Sunshine. Not the best entry by a longshot but if you "get it", it becomes an 8/10 or above, because you're willing to see past the flaws.Basically like banging a fat chick, that you learn to appreciate for an actual personality and a fridge that is always full. Also has the best Princess Zelda, period.
>>736489225That description made me laugh, yeah that's what I seem to be gathering from the responses as well which is that the game is quite divisive, I can definitely see past major flaws though as long as the overall game is enjoyable.
>>736487441exploring the sea and fishing up the things in it is the best part of the game not the worst part. there's more rupees than you will ever have a use for, there's never a time you will need to grind for them.
>>736489557Sea exploration sounds awesome, I can't think of many games i've played throughout my life where you get to truly sail a boat across the sea as a main focus point.
I've been playing it over the past few months. I'm finally at the triforce hunt, and I may shelve it. Other than that its been great. Zelda needs to return to actual dungeons.
>>736487614this is the biggest problem. the games feels rushed and incomplete because it was.
>>736487441>is that as bad as they say?yes. not only that, the big open sea is cordoned off until half the game is over
>>736489854>the games feels rushed and incomplete because it was.I mean Majora's Mask turned out great, what says it can't happen again?
>>736487441If you're not a soulless hylic and play the game like an actual human, you'll literally be like 2/3rds of the way through the triforce quest by the time you reach it just from casual exploration. If, however, you play the game like a p-zombie and exclusively go from main objective to main objective, then you'll slam into the triforce quest like a wall of bricks.
>>736489895That's a bummer, open world sea exploration sounds fun and i'm upset they seem to not of capitalised on that to its full potential.
>>736487441worst zelda ever made
>>736489984I kind of suffer to much from doing main objective to main objective, I think the only exception to me doing this was in Majora's Mask since you kind of need to be doing the side-quests to get items to even access the main objective in the first place.
>>736490058The CD-I games are probably the actual worst Zelda games.
>>736489984>you'll literally be like 2/3rds of the way through the triforce quest by the time you reach it just from casual explorationlove this lie. You literally cant begin any part of it until 70% of the game is over and it gives you the privelege to start paying tingle. WW fanboys are so disingenuous
>>736488773It's not unplayable without those features. Also the Collector's Edition is Ocarina, Muh Jora, and the NES games, it only has a demo of Wind Waker. And it was for the GameCube, not the Wii.
>>736490147>70%It's like two and a half dungeons. Granted, that is like a good 40% of the game, but its still in the first half.
>>736490423>it only has a demo of Wind Wakeroh really? I never actually played it so I didn't check for myself, thanks for the correction.
>>736490614and you wont have the wallet upgrade to pay for all the charts, so have fun grinding. and you'll be stuck in the eternal night
>>736487441Sort of but not quite. Wind Waker's structure as a game is an absolute mess, which makes said Triforce quest an absolute slog despite it being by far the game's best idea. It basically keeps you on a leash for half the game until it doesn't, and if you don't intuitively pick up on this quest early in spite of the weak breadcrumbing and obnoxious item gating then you're basically walled out of the endgame until you clear this giant fetch quest all at once. It's much better if you start it earlier but almost no one catches onto that on their first playthrough, it's the kind of mistake people learn the hard way and then don't make again on repeat playthroughs should they ever bother.
>>736489712WW only gets it halfway right. Treasure hunting, filling out the chart and sea battles rule, while submarines and watchposts are neat. The "fuck off in the sea" stuff is good, but actually landing on islands off cue and getting item gated half the time feels miserable, and the main quest adjacent stuff feels undercooked a lot of the time. Unfortunately that's half the game you have to put up with for the good parts.
>>736491041submarines suck ass. its the exact same fucking room copy and pasted across 6 subs(the ghost one with he maze is fine at least) where youre just fighting a mob of enemies that are in the sub for...some reason. theres no thought put into them at all
>>736491206They're the game's equivalent of OoT's grottos. They're things to find and play with for a few minutes.
>>736490698>you'll be stuck in the eternal nightJabun's quest takes literally 15 minutes, and that's not an exaggeration; I'd greatly prefer if his dungeon wasn't fucking cut from the game, but it is what it is. Also. you'd have to be something special to return to Outset Isle and not grab the first wallet upgrade; it's practically thrown in your face.
>>736491454so more backtracking, gotcha
>>736491525>so more backtracking, gotchaJabun is on Outset. It's part of the main quest. I mean, you don't technically need to step foot on the island for that part of the game. I suppose you could miss the wallet upgrade if you were just completely disinterested in exploring...
reminder that peak Zelda would be a TOTK sequel where nu-Hyrule is flooded and you have to use the Ultra Hand building features to upgrade and repair your magic boat with parts scavenged from combat and islands in order to get around the world
>>736491898or turned off by sailing around a giant ocean and your own boat telling you NO! BAD! STOP THAT! WE SAIL THIS WAY! so you want to explore your way instead of returning to outset
>>736487441Use the Better WW mod and it makes sections like that much more tolerable.
>>736492042Okay. All the same, the game FORCES you to return to Outset 3 full sized dugeons and an entire unlocked great sea BEFORE the the triforce quest. Even if you somehow miss the Outset wallet upgrade (grandma's dying? awesome, better ingore it) there's still other wallet upgrade right next Windfall which is literally free; there's no item gate, no puzzle, nothing, you just waltz right in. You almost have to go out of your way for wallet upgrades to be an issue by the time it becomes relevant.
