This is something modern narratives refuse to do
Bring back a 10 plus year old villian and kill him off in your new game for good
Modern storytelling hates consequences and things actually happening because they cant milk as much if they do that

I hate how how franchises always grandfather the oldest villains into godhood today. Even when they revisit old ones. It used to be nice and satisfying to see the new threat make the old ones look like a bitch.

Just introduce new characters, star fox has a pretty small cast so it can afford to rotate it a bit so long as it keeps series staples like Fox, Falco and Wolf, hell, Wolf was absent in adventures and Falco only showed up at the end, so you pretty much only need Fox.

This. Single player was kind of meh, but the multiplayer was like my friends and I's number three game after Melee and Double Dash in college.
