>>736507675It's very good. It's slower paced because while your party changes from week to week you're growing a team rather than swapping partners, but the story is a lot more coherent as a result. It does a good job of honoring the first game without leaning too hard into nostalgia, and the characters are endearing. The combat's excellent, you slot a pin into each party member and each one is mapped to a button, so your entire party is attacking like a swarm as you swap who you're controlling to thread your way through the battlefield and manage the tempo of the fight. That being said, there's some days that are filler and drag on for way too goddamn long, and some of the character arcs fall a bit flat. It's still a phenomenal sequel and it's a damn shame that it was deliberately sent out to die.

And this style is more fitting to the storyline since the different screens on the DS were different dimensions despite you and your partner fighting the same enemies.
