It is YOUR FAULT the locally owned game store went out of business. Your autistic, antisocial ass just had to be a faggot.

The kino of heading to the shop with the bros to hangout, or waiting outside at midnight for the new game is dead, and you are to blame.
>>
valve will go bankrupt soon and we will return to kino
>>
>>736507147
How? It seems quite lucrative

>PC gamers caused the death of malls
uh huh
>>
>>736509515
It all goes back to the pc gaming nerd if you think about it.
>>
I have a nice PC software collection from the late 90s and early 2000s. And since then suddenly all my games are just files on an account that someone else hosts and I don't even own them.
>>
>>736507475
they spent all their money on not making the steam machine
>>
>>736510747
if it wasnt steam or epic, it would be other game sites, you think if gamehouse games were still around it would have become just as popular as steam? if the internet never took off, PC was never invented, if home computers never took off, something else surely would have taken their place eventually
>>
>>736507024
PC gaming was doomed to fail from the start. It's not a real gaming device.
>>
I will not go to the mom and pop with the bearded millennial behind the counter trying to sell me Mario toys at a 200% markup
>>
>>736507024
I still go to my local game shop. Just picked up some N64 games over the weekend, in fact.
>>
>>736512843
I might do the same i have an urge to relive my childhood however this feels like the worst time to buy retro games because everything is vastly overpriced
>>
Uh huh, yeah, sure, Huey. We're Snake, and they're dead because of us.
Now get in your boat and have your son cuck you, while we play MGS on pc

>it's my fault somebody invented usb drives and made data transportation with optical discs obselete
>it's my fault storage drives got huge and made optical discs pointless
>it's my fault ithe internet go fast you can download games in minutes and made optical discs pointless
>it's my fault motherboards adopted bootable usbs so you can install an os in 5 minutes instead of waiting for a optical disc to spin at 15,000 rpm just to reach a few mb/s
>it's my fault bluray movie drm was so retarded it was easier to rip it and transport it and watch it things without the disc
You're very welcome.
>>
>>736507024
It's the stores' fault for hardly stocking any PC games in the mid 2000s. That how Valve slowly changed my buying habits: making the games available to me.
>>
>>736507024
I just see a bunch of consoomer slop unless you have children to buy those toys for you need to get a grip
>>
>>736507024
PC gaming was once good, before the drm cancer and gayben the lard of the mid 2000s ruined it.

Why can't game companies sell physical copies for pre-orders ?
They're guaranteed to make money from it and the games can continue to be enjoyed years after through the second hand market. They can give the digital license on top of the physical, or chose not to.
>>
>>736519545
Nearly every single new game is woke nonsense or goyslop and you care about the cardboard it comes in... shut the fuck up. You are the problem. Just shilling for companies to make more money.
>>
>>736519545
because it's pointless when the contents of the disc are just made obsolete with a patch a week later, or in the case of aaa game, a day later.

Console CHAD here. Was just at my local used video game store this weekend and picked up some 360 games. Feels good to be a video game owner and not a video game renter like PeeCee.

Just buy a chinkheld. For $90 you can get a trimui smart pro and a big enough Sim card to hold everything up through dreamcast. Put Crossmix on it and go go town.

I genuinely hate going to these stores because the cashier or whoever is trying to help you always does small talk about the shit you're buying. Just let me buy Arcana Heart 3 with my Hi Nu Gundam model kit without me telling you why I want them.

Consoles didn't have to move to digital distribution. They did it to stop you niggers sharing, reselling, trading, and renting your games instead of just buying them at full price every time, and you fucking fell for it without even putting up a fight. We fucking told you it was happening and why and you did fucking nothing about it.

I worked at gamestop and left at lunch on my first day and never came back. The bros that hang out at hobby and tcg shops are not the same type of people who go to FUCKING GAMESTOP to buy their games. Some of the most obnoxious time wasting faggots along with a boss who's way too fucking egotistical for someone working at gamestop
>>
I can only preorder games they stock. I play obscure weeb shit that I end up having to order online.

I'd rather buy only digital and own nothing than give my hard-earned money to some guy who AT BEST did nothing but buy low from some other supplier and sell it to me at a markup.

You didn't have a choice. You were dealt non ownership so that's what you're forced to support.

But consolefags download games now too. I think everyone who whines about this just hasn't played a videogame in at least 10 years.

>>
>>736507024
most gaming stores never had much shelf space dedicated to PC games anyway, that shit was always at the back of the room in a corner
>>
>>736507024
Nope, it was PC publishers who insisted on using online verification and DRM that killed it. Why are all PC game storefronts online now? Because all PC gaming required an online connection to work for nearly a decade beforehand. Why the fuck would you buy a game in-store when it's just a cardboard box and a CD with a website URL inside?

I'd be fine with full price PC games that require a dongle to play, as long as there's no forced online component to them. But good luck finding ANY company who's willing to sell PC games that doesn't insist on the online verification and ability to push online updates and the free telemetry they get out of doing so.

What kind of LGS sells lego sets? None of the ones near me have legos.
>>
>>736507024
PC slaves don't realize that most of the heart and soul and actual mainstream excitement and culture of video games mostly came from arcades and consoles because that's where the average working class person gamed at. Arcades were where friends and rivalries were made and legends were born and all you needed was a quarter and your own skill, unlike relatively expensive PCs that were mostly for WORK and at best had obscure adult games. Outside of classic shootans like Doom and Quake the arcades were where the culture was at and then consoles afterwards because the best consoles felt like having an arcade at home.
>>
>>736519545
because it costs more money and eats into their profits, retard
>>
>>736507024
PC games have been treated like a red-headed stepchild for years, even in Wal-Mart's electronics department they were a back corridor instead of the prominent place like the consoles were.

>PC slave can't comprehend gaming without the internet
Thank you for proving my point with your standard mustard race talking points. Not once did I mention the internet or modern gaming. I was talking 80s and 90s, before consoles were networked, a time you probably weren't even alive for and therefore cannot understand.
>>
>>736507024
Blockbuster dying was inevitably when Netflix and live streaming services came. You're just too stuck in your nostalgiatard ways to accept that gaming stores would disappear if it happened with movies and mainstream television.
It's not got much to do with PC but what the logical conclusion of where the internet was heading. You might as well blame the internet itself for ever existing. Your childhood won't return because there was the inevitably that it would change.
If Gabe didn't create a digital store front then Sony would have done it eventually because they had always planned it despite you not knowing about it. They had the same future in mind when everyone was discussing the Internets capabilities for their platforms. They stopped shipping disc trays for the PS5 pro as well so it's not like Sony was ever a hold out. Their attitudes changed very quickly on it.

You do realise his son Gray Newell is set to inherit the company right?
Before Covid hit he was making an indie game MMO FPS but since then has got back into racing.

>Older stuff shoots up in price
>To the point even a lone kart without the box can cost as much as a new game
>New games aren't even fully on the disc or kart, online services may even be down to get needed download or updates

>>
>heading to the shop with the bros to hangout

Why don't you just go to LANs? still happening with PC gaming.
The more important aspect of the experience still exists if you go out of your way to meet people and play games with them. Walking into a store to buy a game is irrelevant compared to hanging out with randoms in a net cafe and making friends.
