The more I play these games the more I realize that everything I liked about Dark Souls was just watered down King's Field. Where do I go for more of this brutal dungeon crawling gameplay? Please don't say Lunacid.
if you haven't done shadow tower yet, shadow tower abyss is really goodcould also go into some western dungeon crawlersultima underworld or arx fatalis for non-grid based crawling
>>736517092kings field is a watered down western rpganvil of dawn is single character and real time so it's a good starting point. great graphics and voice acting as well
>>736517092>I liked about Dark Souls was just watered down King's Field.How. The combat and level design in Souls games are vastly better than any KF game. Its a direct evolution.

>>736517227I tried getting into Shadow Tower but the setting didn't really grab me, maybe Abyss will be better. Have heard great things about Underworld and have already played Arx (great game).>>736517431thanks, exactly what I'm looking for.>>736517514>The combat and level design in Souls games are vastly better than any KF game. Its a direct evolution.Demon's Soul's combat was a step up from KF, so that game being more action-focused works great. The levels are also still very intricate, if less puzzling to navigate. But as the series has gone on, the combat hasn't really improved since DeS while the level design has gotten weaker and weaker from entry to entry, with the situational awareness that that KF requires entirely replaced by straight line runs to boss rooms with quick checkpoints. It's clearly popular, but it doesn't really grab me.

Bit of a deviation, but you might enjoy Xanadu Next and Brandish the Dark Revenant.
>>736517092DS2 is the canonical King's Field 5, since it was by the same director and has many references to it. Sadly he's retired now and Miyazaki said there won't be any more KF without him.
