It might sound stupid but what actually makes a gamer? Is it just simply playing video games or is it deeper than that? Is it collecting hardware and software? Is it collecting every achievement/trophy? Is it 100% a game on every single platform it released on? What about mobile gaming? Is it being a PC purist? Is it being a fan of a franchise? Or just a fan of 1 game that you sunk hours into? Is it collecting the merchandise? Do you obsess over physical media or do you prefer digital? Do you obsess over a particular developer? Do you obsess over a particular character? All these questions may sound stupid, I just want to know exactly what /v/ thinks. I feel like I'm not a true gamer, I play games but don't care for 100% completion. I buy digital and I ignore fandoms and merchandise. I want to change that, I unironically want to be the ultimate gamer, I want to change and reach gamer Nirvana but I need the wisdom of the video game community. Please enlighten me my fellow gamers, show me the light!

I've been thinking about this for a few days now. I feel like a loser and a faker. I really want to get good but I need guidance. What do you think? Please give me advice.
