>>736525746It was nice seeing the same names using my generators all the time>mfw several people contributed to upgrade a safe house built for a one time useI wish there was a private group setting. Would kinda defeat the general idea of shared structures with players all over the world, but a playthrough with a /v/ group where only our structures show up would be really cool. Same with road and monorail contributions
>>736525979Strand contract sound like they should do that but I never really noticed a difference
>>736526338Strand contracts are neat but still get cucked if you have the online structures setting to only some. It also wouldn't solve the problem of random useless reddit bridge with over a million likes in the middle of nowhere on flat terrain
I preferred the reverse trike in DS1. It was cooler.
>>736526853Kojima really wanted vehicle combat so they designed them around that, it's insane how inferior they are to the designs of the vehicles in 1. Who the fuck even uses the shooting when on a truck ? And being able to shoot from a trike doesn't make up for it looking like a very fast wheelchair. We could've gotten a repurposed ghost mech motorcycle after the headless riders sub order, but no we're stuck with the gay tri cruiser. Yes I'm mad.
>>736525072Why did they downgrade it so that you can't use the toilet/shower separately? Between that and the vehicles so far, there are some weird attempts at streamlining that remove SOVL. Also I personally dislike the DHV Magellan.
>>736527657Sam also doesn't have small animations when you zoom at him in a private room and no silly animations to do in front of the mirror. Do you rike?
You *do* take a piss and a poop *before* showering, right /v/? you don't want to go outside with an itchy reedus now do you?
>>736527657That's because they removed the, sweat, piss and shit grenades and combined them into the generic EX grenade that you can manufacture. The only reason to shower now is to get a handful of chiral crystals.
>>736525072I mean, he did light you on fire. A lot.

>>736528684The mountains are cold, you see.
>>736527501this holy shit i miss the old trike it was so fucking sick. of course the little cuck mobile would replace it in australia

>>736527657I kinda miss how the first game made you feel like the last man on earth until suddenly oh yeah cutscenes but now in death stranding 2 every single mission has to end with you going into the magellan to talk to those fucking cunts and solve gay ass IQ tests in exchange for tranime decals. The first game was the peak of vidya
>>736528923The mod to silence him can't come soon enough
>>736528706This is when the game finally starts. Everything prior to that is the prologue
>>736528923Dollman alone brings the score down a whole number for me. What a stupid and pointless character
>>736528706>finishing the roadshow did you even do this without losing your mindthere is not NEARLY enough metals and ceramics around to finish even a third of the roads i've found, and thats including with 4 stars in most settlements
>>736528393>go to private room>immediately goes to bed covered in shit and piss and blood and dirt>wakes up and takes a shower???
>>736529119Mines and moving materials around with the magellan
>>736529119mines and moving resources around with the monorailchiralium in this one is almost impossible to run out of, the lowest i've ever had is 6k of it.
>>736529168so how did you farm the 802384027354892673598235 chiral crystals needed for all that stuff
>>736529213by picking it up.its fucking everywhere. and once red bts show up they drop it by the ton. there's also infinite spawns of the golden chiral creatures all over the place.
>>736529086It's pretty obvious that Kojima saw Mimir from nuGOW and thought he could do it better. He didn't understand that Mimir worked because he knew when to keep his mouth shut.
>>736529272>cant pick it up when in the truckpure fucking suffering honestly. number one change needed
>>736529213I took my time during my playthrough, was grabbing every big chiral crystals I'd see. A habit I got from the first game is to grab crystals from every single shelter, leaving only 100 or 200 in case I ever need to fabricate something. I've seen people talk about farming them but I have never once needed to farm them. Some orders will send you into BT areas, later on there's gold and red BTs flying around. With the boomerang you can easily get rid of them and they give a ton of crystals. The gold chiral creatures too, there's always a couple near the animal shelter, just blast them when doing orders there
>>736529357You can if you're wearing the gloves you get from the jeet
>>736529119>>736529272It's quite simple, I played offline and used a cheat table to skip grinding. I had 99999 chiral crystals from the start and upgraded every road I found instantly.
>>736529004I found myself saying "Oh FUCK off!" every time the Magellan teleported to my position. It got old really fast.
>>736529429even knowing the tedious grind, i would feel hollow if i used a cheat table for that shit
also like the first game: jelly fish bts, but in this one you can just sit back in your truck and blast them with the cannons, then just get off the truck and boost skeleton sanic around and pick up all the chiralium.

>>736529827Never she's fucking dead
>runs like absolute shitGoddammit, freaking loved the first game, literally playing the game at the lowest settings possible and yet still get 40fps on occation.
>>736525072>finally hit 2 mil likes>milestones suddenly clutteredwoah
>>736530419It's heavily dependant on your hardware. Some people even on the higher end are having issues making the game run smooth. For me it just werks on my 6 years old machine, I played the first game on it as well, only thing that's changed is the GPU. Everything on max setting except for gay tracing, consistent 60 fps. Some hardware combinations may be causing issues
Do settlements get more population over time? At the start of the game, West Fort Knox had a population of 48k, now it's 50k
>>736530419I get 100-120 fps on my 9070xt running 1440p native, all high settings with FSR4-AA, I bet you have RT enabled.
>65 hours in >just unlocked the coffinI think I'm taking things way too slow. They're now sending me back to the northwestern region to do deliveries for those preppers that I've already maxed out 15 hours ago. I'm gonna stop doing that for the rest of the game.
Bought this last year and after 30 hours put it down because it lacked the spark of the first one. Recent threads convinced me to boot it back up and I'm enjoying it again. Still not as good as the first game, but I guess I just needed a break to distance myself from the disappointment. I enjoy shooting the fuck out of everything. But I would have preferred the terrain and traversal were expanded on more and made the focus.
>>736528923It absolutely sucks but if you haven't finished the game yet his nagging makes complete sense in retrospect.
>>736531793I expected something different from the first game so I still enjoyed it a lot. If you go in blind wanting more of what the first game offered, you're going to be disappointed in a few ways. This game is much more combat heavy and while they added a lot to the combat, it's still pretty janky at its core and playing on the higher difficulties makes the amount of combat in the game mentally draining. The monorail and roads tickled my autism even more than in the first game so there's that.
THIS is all that's required for lv2 upgrades? had a look around 10 or 12 pavers on the map, and they had roughly the same required amounts. this is gonna be great.
>>736532025When I say spark I mean the first game felt like a novel look at a dystopian world and I liked how Kojima set your interactions with it. I didn't feel that 2 added anything meaningful either in world, story, characters or gameplay. It's "refined" in the way Horizon 2 is refined. Still a good game, just kind of a dud in terms of a sequel. For comparison, I think Yotei feels like a totally new adventure from Tsushima, and had a stronger initial impression to that game than I did DS2. But as of now I'm back to enjoying DS2. I accept it for what it is, and what it is is Kojima jacking his dick off in my face for a few hours while I do occasional pizza deliveries and kidnap kangaroos.
>>736529165Lol, this always gets me when it happens. Another funny things was the garage cutscene, I had frost burn on my hands and feet and I was covered in blood the entire scene.
>>736530419It ran 60fps on high throughout and I have low-mid range hardware and I was streaming the game from my PC to my steam deck for the entire play through. Really, the game runs great
>>736529165>Anon's never worked a 12 hour shift of grueling physical labour where afterwards you just come out and pass out in your awful shit clothes and stenchThat part is surprisingly true to life lol. Also the part where Sam misses tossing his apple into the trash can three times in a row before just giving up.
>>736531735You should sort of play until you get like a group of 5-8 people and then focus on trimming that down to 2-3 and then moving on. You can't max out everyone before the end of the game, some people won't let you get to 5 stars and the last connection is it's own location. So don't fret maxxing out every new person immediately. 79% of people that finish the game keep playing after the ending according to Kojima, he sort of designed an end game for those people.
>>736525746>play game on steam>don't see a single profile picture the entire gameextremely disappointing, was actually my favorite part about the first game. i'm guessing it was a bug, or I was only matched with playstation players for some reason? this made the interactions with others a lot less memorable
>>736532485I think locking most standard orders behind the story was a mistake. In DS1 I loved taking on as many orders as I could while still advancing through the story, and even after its end you still had plenty of orders left to do. Here you get crumbs of orders until you beat the story, gay design. People who want to keep playing after finishing the story will keep playing anyway, there was no need for this.>>736532604It's a bug.
>>736532189The issue is the chemical mine is in the middle of a bandit camp and it's a small mine with no tram. Chemicals is the game's "rare" element. However, it pops up in bandit camps everywhere and also you can drain all the city's and get most of the way there anyway.
>>736532667>It's a bug.well it massively degraded the game for me personally, seems like something like that should be fixed within a few days of release
>>736532724Them fixing the steam friends not appearing but not the avatars is weird
>>736532485Yeah that's what I did in the first game, so I know for a fact that I'll unlock some cheater shit to zoom, fly and teleport all over the continent when I get closer to endgame so I thought that maybe I didn't want to trivialize this game to that extent. Joke is on me though cause now I'm feeling kinda burnt out, so yeah I might end up doing that after all. As it is, half of the continent (and Mexico) is maxed out already so for the other half I'm just going to do them if its convenient.
>>736532667I think Kojima thought the lost cargo/delivery request signs would make up for the order deficit. The density of loose packages seems a little higher. But the flood gates of lost cargo don't open until you beat the game. End game lost cargo is like 4 XL packages that net 400 likes each right next to each other. When you're playing, basically everything you find is between 80-200 likes. However, I beat the game with only 8 people not at 5 stars, I just used the search function and emptied all the single shelters of random materials so they'd trigger supply requests from the cities. If you're wondering why every building around the single shelter is at level 3, it's because of me and other people like me just burning materials to trigger supply request orders.
Literally just finished the game about 30 minutes ago. What do we think of the story?I called pretty much everything (besides the APAS beach server farm) as it happened. Knew that Charlie was D-H immediately so I picked his voice. Knew that The President was up to no good when he first contacted me on a private line. Knew immediately that Tomorrow was Lou. Was pretty certain the entire time that Lou was Sam's kid even despite the misdirection
>>736532778Max out the eastern environmental center for cheat flying goodness Straight jumping off the top of mountains and flying across the map with no risk to cargo
>>736532674that's fine with me. twin valley is somewhat central so i can just stockpile chems at heartmans and pave east and the neo and pave west.
>>736532919Did u rike higgs telling sam he loves him more than pizza?
>>736532919also i dont really feel like the theming of the game is as spot-on as the first, it seemed kind of all over the place?>>736533091i don't think i got this voice line, had to look it up
>>736533159>also i dont really feel like the theming of the game is as spot-on as the first, it seemed kind of all over the place?still thinking it through here, is it basically a middle-finger to the first game? i felt the theme of the first was "despite being separated, we are still connected" whereas this one is something like "even if you are connected, there is value in being physically close"
>>736533159Blame it on kojima rewriting the script mid production, it really shows at times.
>>736533259>look this up>article title: Hideo Kojima Made Significant Changes To Death Stranding 2 Because Playtesters Thought It Was 'Too Good'uh... interesting. is there any info as to what the game was like before these changes?
>>736533159The lines trigger only if you let the fight last long enough which most people won't do, even on TTW I didn't get to hear any of those lines. A shame, I think they add a lot to the fight, miserykino
>>736532919The APAS thing was really the only left field thing in the story. I immediately knew tomorrow was Lou as well. When they mentioned that Lou was born right before the voidout that Sam got caught in, I knew then it was actually his daughter even though Sam said "[Lucy] told me to my face it wasn't mine." I liked the story despite the twists being sort of obvious. I really liked the half twist that Sam was walking around with an empty pod and the scene of him coming to terms that he lost Lou even though I knew it wasn't really the case. That vulnerability was really nice to see from Sam that, through out the whole game, was just so much more, I guess, cheery than the first game. You can tell he really softened being a Dad and it was nice. I think the ending villain motivations were a little bit of a mess. A classic Prometheus thing with APAS thinking setting out a wild dog wasn't going to bite them too was sort of a hat on a hat, and the APAS being the harbinger of Higgs but not the end game villain made them sort of deflate alot. However I liked the end confrontation with Higgs in 2 more than 1. 1, he sort of feels like a whiny kid not getting his way, for 2, he has this deep suffering that has made him crazy. He knows he's crazy, it makes him incredibly sad and all he can do is embrace it and hope it'll finally end his suffering. The repatriate angle that both Sam and Higgs have is hardly ever really expounded upon, but we got to see a really interesting angle of that with Higgs being an immortal all alone for thousands of years, something Sam is seemingly also cursed to experience though he has his friends and family too. It's a nice end step confrontation and I liked it alot more than the Higgs fight in one and the Amalie "talking herself out of apathy as you sit there for hours but maybe even years" thing that happened at the end of 1
>>736525072Man, the Neil Subway fight in easy if you have a shit load of Chronobiotes stocked. I got like 130% damage but still an S-rank because I just spammed Chronos and then some grenade launchers into the "tunnel" bit where an Assault Rifle was needed.Muuuuuch easier than the chaotic 1-2 fights before that.
>>736527501>Who the fuck even uses the shooting when on a truck ?I do. On Mules. It's a free +200 Likes Estate when passing by with Standard Orders onboard the Fed Ex truck.
>>736528836AFAIK, that wouldn't have worked? Tar is Chiral isn't it?
>>736533339It's the one I liked the least, in both presentation and gameplay. Thought it lasted way too long.
>>736529119>there is not NEARLY enough metals and ceramics around to finish even a third of the roads i've found,Mines, nagga. I never bothered with preppers until the last 10% of Roads AND Monorails was needed.Literally finished them all within 2-4 hours of each other. Right before going to F7 Distro and a boss fight, the game even mentions doing that before doing the Main Order going there. kek.
>>736533326>I liked the story despite the twists being sort of obvious. I guess so, but this was hinted at immediately after Lou died (Dollman says something like "but wait.. the pod is empty")>I think the ending villain motivations were a little bit of a mess. I was kind of disappointed to find out that, yeah, it's actually just Higgs who's been getting his ass kicked over and over again all game>However I liked the end confrontation with Higgs in 2 more than 1.I agree, I think it was a strong finale all around, and I also really liked the dichotomy of Sam and Higgs living forever in different circumstances
>>736529357>He hasn't unlocked the glovesDo the Jeet, it's the only worthwhile thing. Once you get Level 2 gloves, you can pick up Chirals in the truck. But honestly the faster method is gold blobs in 4-5 locations of the map. You'll be passing by 1-3 regularly while doing deliveries. Use a grenade gun, spam 2 shots and get an easy 1,000 or so off 1 and maybe 2-5,000 off another 3-4 if you get lucky with spawns.
>>736533440personally I liked it the most since the other fights were so open
>>736532674I never bothered with the mine. You have plenty of Chemicals at the Preppers/Distros.>>736532667Is it story? I've read you have to do certain ones to unlock others. But in the end, each prepper has like 6 orders for each of them MAXIMUM. There simply is not ENOUGH for certain ones that want like 10,000 5 stars even with the shitty six-hour in-gameplay timer reset skill.
>>736533417I think that's right, it isn't regular fire, it chirliam fueled fire made just to torture Sam. That being said, I'm not sure how the rain was helping because I think it also contains chirliam, but maybe it's that the chirliam causes timefall, that's the whole thing with the incinerators from the first game, cremation releases chirliam into the atmosphere which attracts BTs which is why they need a separate far off facility. Also the corefall rejuvenation has to do with chirliam too, so who knows if it's just seam material or chirliam as a whole.
>>736533580yeah this part made no sense lol
>>736531735Progression in the game is inherently, awkward, and it’s one of my biggest issues with both games. Mechanically, the primary reason you level people up is to get the superior equipment they can give you. This equipment’s value to the player is, to a good extent, dependent on how long they’ll get to use it. This encourages people to max out preppers as early as they can, but that’s the time when it sucks the most to do so, because that’s when they have the least available orders. Genuinely like half of the standard orders in the game are locked behind beating the game. The extent to which I care about better equipment is extremely low once I’ve already beaten the game. On the other hand, if you try to grind everyone to fold the moment you meet them, you end up having a miserable time. It’s unclear what the “right” way to do things is.
>>736533417Sam would have burned even in a fire blanket or a swimming pool, he needed the anti-entropic effect of Rainy's corefall to revert him to a pre-burned state.
>>736533527The second one is my favorite. At the very start when entering the hospital I got lost watching the whales through the glass doors, so much that I didn't notice the skeletons coming at me. The janky jump is fun but kinda ass on TTW where you absolutely will die if it decides not to work properly. The fingers of death are really cool too>>736533580Rainy's entire thing is de-aging things, the fire got de-aged until it got put out. That's my cope explanation anyway
>>736533440I thought the presentation was ok, but the twist Lou is apparently Sam's kid after all? (No spoilers past that part, not finished yet) seems kind of crazy given the therapist and him don't interact all game. It's gotta be a rewrite.I thought the enemies coming in on the roof and then having to flee when YOU'RE put on the roof was cool, but yeah: the set piece is ultimately wasted.
>>736533632this is my biggest complaint of the game. it's made doubly worse because the late-game equipment you get with just 1 or 2 stars is automatically better than anything you'll get from the first 10 connections, so there is a question of "do I go back and level up those connections, or do I just move forward with the main story and automatically get stronger things anyway"
>>736533704i initially thought neil was going to be lou's father and that he would be similar to cliff in his reasons to not being able to die properly, it's all so over the place
>>736533709The lightweight weapons I think are a huge miss from a macro level, design wise. I actually really like all of them, and I think that their designs are in most cases better than the originals, the light way to salt rifle looks really cool, I’d love to have one in real life. That being said, it’s crazy that you can get a level two version of a gun from four starring a prepper, and then get a markedly superior lightweight version by one starring a different prepper. It’s also strange to me that they seemed to do a lot of work to make the lightweight versions as mechanically identical as is possible. If you’re already doing all of the hard work of new models and animations, why not do the easy work of making the numbers calculate differently? Have them fire significantly slower or have more bullet drop or make one immune to timefall but have it be unreloadable or something. By modern single player standards the game actually has an admirably huge number of guns, but you have no reason to use most of them. You unlock the unguided missile launcher after the guided missile launcher. Why?
>>736533483. >I guess so, but this was hinted at immediately after Lou died (Dollman says something like "but wait.. the pod is empty") that's why I said it was a half twist, I knew it was empty and had to be empty because Lou was walking around as Tomorrow, and even before that, the wierd BT Lou thing didn't match anything in lore. So it's more like a dramatic irony moment that we know the pod is empty, but Sam didn't and that's what I mean, that whole scene was good even though, like pretty much every twist, it was easily guessable >Was I the only one who thought the APAS twist meant they just made a fake Higgs to fight Sam to force him to continue connecting the continent?that didn't cross my mind, but I can see how that thought would have crossed someone else's now that you mention it. The ghost mech puppet thing was a little confusing, but I just thought he was on the beach controlling an avatar which is what was happening when they explained it. But I can also see the read that they made like a simulated Higgs. This sort of feeds into the wierd discarding of the APAS as a villain. They more just enable the end villain plan of Higgs through their arrogance. They had an illuminati endgame but then realized that they didn't have the keys to the cars. That being said, I liked the Die-hardman reveal and his creed to fight against the APAS plan even though it was sort of pointless in the scheme of things. Higgs ends up bringing APAS to heel, not Drawbridge.
>>736533632I think progression in 2 is worse than 1. 1 felt like you were constantly getting better until you were a god. 2 has these weird ass stop-starts, especially if you're trying to five star before pushing on (like 1, 1 had a shit load of Standard Orders you could use to level up connections). It's honestly my biggest issue with 2. There simply is not enough Standard Orders for preppers to where once you 4 star, unless you're going for the achievement and ONE specific item that gets out-classed immediately (Shock Bolo beats all, after all), it's not worth doing the 5 stars until near end game in the hopes you backtrack/story leads you to previous areas to level up a bit further.
>>736533697Oh, that's probably the idea. And rainy doesn't really de-age things strictly, she running the Temporal clock literally backwards as tomorrow can do it forwards. It's supposed to be that they're like opposites, or at least that's what the corpus makes it sound like
>>736525746Take a hint John, Ayn wants her anarchist ubermensch husbando and she wants him NOW
>>736533789That seems implied earlier before the twist where Neil and the Therapist talk. Which would also work with the scene of the two as children and both gaining the DOOMS mark (Cancer zodiac sign on their hands).I don't know if the therapist features in in these next few hours (I still gotta 5 star like 9 preppers before I'm fully finished and apparently ONE of them is a post-game-only-possible. *sigh* But I just got those scenes before I called it a night to get ready to get to bed and binge the rest tomorrow, so who knows. But I feel like she should've been introduced or entwined into the story better. Because she feels a bit out of place.
>>736533792I thought the gun unlock changes depending on what you have at that point. I remember reading that the game does an upgrade tree, so if the unlocks moves you up the rope, you don't unlock one thing here and then one thing over there. So if you don't have lvl 2 assault rifles at the place you can unlock lw level 1, you instead unlock the lvl 2 rifles then and if you go to where you would have unlocked the lvl 2 rifles after that you get the LW 1.Or at least, that was what I thought.
>>736533984I don't think that's the case. There is plenty of unlock guides out there that say one for certain preppers. Never "this OR this one."
>>736534013Oh, I didn't read guides, I just finished it the other day for the first time. I just remember reading that. I could be wrong, I never ran into unlocking a lw before getting to the level 2 of something, but I was maxing out people as I went along so I ran the unlock tree possibly linearly
>>736533792Yeah and I feel like by the time you begin fighting Ghost Mechs you really don't even want the assault rifles. I only used shotguns, the machine gun, and explosive weapons after that point. Assault rifles perpetually stayed in my inventory as a back-up weapon
>>736533417>>736533580Of course tar would have put the fire out. Maybe water as well, but definitely tar. It's used to put out fires earlier and if you read the description of the tar cannon, it says chiral tar isn't flammable. People would have been using it as a fuel source already if it could be burned in any way.
one of my major tiny but annoying nitpicks is all the out of the way/hidden preppers seem to be story locked and tied to sub orders. i wish you could just find at least some of them like the inventor.
>>736534127>chiral tar isn't flammable>for chiral-consuming flames???
>>736527657Why did they remove taking a shit? Most based game mechanic ever.
>>736533943She's in the interviews in 1, though it's only text. She isn't an unknown factor, or at least I don't Kojima thought so. That being said, the interviews from DS1 clearly state she killed herself after realizing the horror of the world after Brigette tries to comfort her in her pregnancy. It may be Kojima forgetting the interviews from DS1. That being said, it can also be her planning her escape by pretending to kill herself, or it could be that Brigette altered the interview records so Sam wouldn't know that bridges shot and killed Lucy when she tried to run. I think that's the implication is the latter because the entire record around Lou was altered to hide her survival and her adoption as a BB, it isn't impossible that Bridgette also changed the interview manuscripts from Lucy to leave our her plan to run away. But even that has some issue because the interviews make no mention of her pretending the baby wasn't Sam's.
>>736534323>She's in the interviews in 1, though it's only text. She isn't an unknown factor, or at least I don't Kojima thought so.Ah, ok. Could be that Kojima forgot given the game is like 4-6 years after DS1 released, so he probably didn't have a lore bible. I haven't played DS1 beyond the Director's Cut cave addition since the original PC release right during COVID, so her being mentioned slipped my mind.
>>736534127The issue is that Sam repatriates already on fire and the chiralium burst from repatriation fuels the flames until he dies again. Smothering the fire won't help because Sam himself is the fuel source.
>>736534127It isn't a regular fire. It's like how you can't use water to extinguish chemicals fires. Higgs specifically says it's magic sci-fi fire, so I can buy that nothing can extinguish it except Rainy turning back the clock to the point where the fire was never lit. That being said, it isn't explained that's what rainy did and it seems like someone could have fetched a pail of water or a fire extinguisher and helped him.
>>736526853>>736527501>I preferred the reverse trike in DS1. It was cooler.I havent played the new one yet but this and the truck have been my biggest fears. I really love my truck from the first game and hate that they took the cabin away from it.what exactly is better about the new game though for someone who loved trucking?
>>736534189Lou touches the flaming Sam while covered in tar and she don't catch fire. It's simply not flammable.>Sam repatriates already on fireIt's more like he's smoldering, then the fire reignites because of residual heat. Tar should help with that.
>>736534449>what exactly is better about the new game though for someone who loved trucking? You get to build roads and get "Snow Tires" late game to climb the mountain easier.Though once I got them, I didn't bother using them since I already suffered like 20-40 hours getting the 2-3 preppers up there to five star, kek.
>>736527501I read it like a recumbent bike, I didn't really see the wheelchair thing but I guess someone can
What bothers me about the void out of capital knot is that DS2 shows Neil's BT making contact with Sam triggered it, but Sam is a repatriate, the void out shouldn't be as massive as the first game says it was
>>736534392Fragile sets Higgs on fire with the guitar and it burns out pretty fast on him. Clearly it works like regular fire. It needs heat above a certain temp, and a fuel source. I think tar would put it out.
>>736534486Same thing for me. When the tires unlocked I was like "but I don't need to drive in the snow anymore, everywhere has zip lines and I already maxed out those bases." I'm sure it goes hard if you're not as much of a immediate completionist
>>736534504I thought that too. The only possible excuse is Sam really held on to Lucy and the catcher swallowed her with him. Lucy wasn't necro yet, so she still counted as a regular person for the voidout.
>>736534449You can shoot from the truck. You can weaponise the truck so it does the shooting for you.You can put a sticky gun on the truck so it harvests cargo and resources passively for you while you drive around. You can get sticky gloves and harvest cargo on the move yourself and now you can put two weapons on the truck AND shoot from it yourself.
>>736534534Higgs' a metal android though, he doesn't have the fuel to burn like sam would as a human under regular fire rules, and for two he isn't soaked in chirliam like Sam is after he repatriates.
>>736534657From what I can see from the steam page it looks like this sequel is more about shooting than deliveries which is a turn off. The gun aspect was always boring to me and tried to avoid it as much as possible. guns are cool but I dont feel like they really add to the gameplay in death stranding.
>>736534534>it burns out pretty fast on himProbably because he isn't covered in chiralium from repatriating. Fairly sure the tar would work tooSpeaking of putting out fire, is it possible to stop that one everlasting fire from one of the ghost hunter sub orders ?
>>736534504The void outs chain. The intial voidout caused a cascade of voidouts that consumed the city.
>>736526853Look at the terrain in that picture. Simply getting that trike from where it is to the building takes more effort than any delivery in DS2.Remember the mountain doctor in DS1? Getting the truck to him was hard as fuck. You had to build bridges or use ziplines.
>>736534449>what exactly is better about the new game though for someone who loved trucking?the road network is utterly massiveyou can upgrade the truck with its own sticky gun (cannon) to pick cargo up without getting outyou can put a gun on it to shoot trash mob bts and bandits (of course you can still just hit people too)you can throw it on a container and ship it (and yourself) with the monorail networkits still great for moving buttloads of resources the roads needs and of course carting around an arsenal for raiding camps and doing orders.where it sort of fails is the desert and mud but you can surf the desert with the coffin.
>>736534727That thing will burn longer the sun apperently, it was burning before that order apperently because the story he investigated was that there's a fire and that fire has a baby crying in it, so the fire was going on long enough for the story to spread and for him to hear it and ask you to investigate it with no urgency whatsoever.
>>736534578There's one order from the eastern observatory where you need a truck because of the truckload of cargo there is to haul. And another from the metagenomicist to the eastern observatory. There may be more like this, I stopped playing at 271 TTW standard orders
>>736534763That makes sense.
>>736534712The point is that the fire isn't magical. It operates on the same principles of combustion as regular fire. Needs fuel, needs heat, can be extinguished by some mechanism.
>>736534763Not how it works at all.
>>736534726There are more combat options in 2 but they have the inverse effect of trivialising combat so much that the delivery work comes out on top again.Weapons as an idea and a narrative device are emphasised in the story a lot more than 1 though.
AAAAHH IM CREATING INFRASTROOCTURE
what episode has most of the map unlocked so i can at least pave the south side of the mountain or is it post game?
>>736534848I maxed out the eastern environmental center before the tires and you can do the meagenomicist run without the upgraded tires within time by following the green trail in pic related instead of the red noob trap with base tires. And you're right, the main order to get the repair supplies in the mountains does make use of the tires immediately, but I guess I really meant following that order
>>736534995Which nobody but you uses in-game. You will never see porters driving on them, nor will they be seen using your ziplines, jumpramps, or cargo canons.
>>736534227I started replaying DS1 with a controller, and it vibrates when Sam is launching a brown torpedo. I never knew that playing on mouse and keyboard.
>>736535189But you will see porters eventually knocking themselves out from jumping off the road because you were driving fast at them!
>>736534587No, corpses all together don't trigger voidouts, it's the living spirit coming into contact with the inside of the bt that causes the voidout. If you'll recall, in the first game, when Igor from corpse disposal gets caught by the BT, he immediately goes for a gun and when he can't reach it, he starts stabbing himself in the chest to try to kill himself before the BT gets him. (https://youtu.be/cRVB0VZR7h4?t=690&si=Ds2UVvzrl_W9C3l2)This is because he knows a corpse doesn't cause a void out. You can see this in game. If you led a living person to a BT and it catches them, you'll game over from a void out, if you bring a corpse to a BT, it ignores it. However, that's how I understand it, it maybe that Igor killing himself was to get the "scent" off of him so he would be left alone.
>>736533580I feel like there was a lot of wasted potential on the chiral flame thing. Like that could have been an excuse to switch to another character to take Sam's place while he's stuck in the repatriation world. I was excited when I went through the cycle of death and repatriation, wondering where things were going to lead. I was wandering around the repatriation world thinking maybe it was a puzzle, or maybe if I waited things would change. But no it wrapped itself up within 5 minutes. I would have also expected a PTSD nightmare where Sam wakes up on fire.
>>736535057After you deliver to F8 I think. There's some sense of urgency story wise but you're free to ignore it and keep building roads, it's pretty funny.
>>736535406I hit a porter the other day at a repo center because I drove by as a snails crawl and he jumped out of the way into a wall and in front of me. It was so funny, I was intentionally being careful and the guy long jumped in front of me. I think it despawns the porters to because I jumped out to check on the guy and the pair was just completely gone. I had heard that you can attack porters and steal their cargo at the cost of general likes but they disappeared, but I have never hurt any of the little guys. I always give them half empty blood bags or grenades when I see them.
>>736535189i always found it kinda funny that npc porters still walked after roads are up. it would be cool to see them driving trucks on the roads (of course they would be able to clipped through so they don't get in the way of players) or you could see them in the big facilities like the f1 lot loading/unloading their truck and making deliveries.
>>736535567You scared them out of the game...
>>736535415>it's the living spirit coming into contact with the inside of the bt that causes the voidout. You should read the backstory stuff in DS1. It's an antimatter explosion. Catchers have an antimatter core. Hence the term voidout. It was discovered to be antimatter booms from studying the blast sites and noticing they have no radiation. Repatriates have smaller explosions for unknown reasons, but's speculated to be because they syphon the blast into the beach somehow. Igor was killing himself because its believed that BTs don't catch dead people, which is true, but that doesn't mean a catcher can't still eat a body and make a boom.
>>736535516I had a similar moment at the end where I thought maybe you would do the endgame as Tomorrow because you see her in the Porter outfit, but I realized that the ending stinger has ro take place at least a few years after DS2.Kojima said that DS2 represents the end of Sam's story so I guess any sequels will be someone else, probably Tomorrow which could be interesting.
>>736535593They kinda dropped the ball for NPC porters. There's a few things they could've done with them, but instead they just made them more numerous and their behavior doesn't change from the first game. They could use vehicles, use carriers, there could be dynamic events where brigands or survivalists try to get them and you jump in to save the day, cooperating with them in taking out the camp. If there is a third game there needs to be a lot of improvements and not just to NPC porters
I wish DS2 had difficult delivery locations, like DS1 did.
>>736535719Did they also remove delivery bots from DS2? Or did I just miss them somehow? I saw them in the credits running around, and only then remembered they were a thing.
>>736535660I did read the back story, I was referring to the interviews just now. I read the novelizations of the game (there are 2 books which is just the one game). That being said, I am sort of feeling in the dark from what I understand and what is said in the interviews and games. People do things and people say things that interfere with the interviews while never really contridicting them. I think the discovery of the soul and the body thing happen during DS1, so I think the DS1 interviews is confused that the anti matter explosion cause being the flesh of the body and not the soul. This is especially the case since the Sam void out file that explains he makes mini void outs while everyone else doesn't but they don't understand fully why. I think the reason has to to do with his spirit since his body is the same size as a normal person and the repatriation process reconstitutes his body whole, even if he has wounds or broken bones that happened as he died.
>>736535791The collector was a fun discovery, completely breaks the rules of all the other shelters.
>>736535671DS3 will be Tomorrow with Higgs as the new Dollman because baby EE Tomorrow fucking vored him>>736535808Yeah they're not in, like armor plates. I used them a lot in 1 for deliveries that involved materials, just so I could stock up on ceramics and metals in some locations for the future. I liked them a lot. Could've been nice to see them around the map in real time instead of just in one of the cutscenes at the end.
>>736535557>"Sam, the evil guys are completely out of control, everyone is hiding and worried, we need to finish this!!" >Just goes on to pave roads for 2 in game weeks.
>>736536076Yep, a job well done
>>736536061Hey, I'd take it. Let's get a redemption arc going for my man, Higgs. That last scene where he was explaining how much suffering he has gone through after DS1 made me really sympathetize with him.
>>736536157Better yet, make both of them playable characters and make up some bullshit reason to be able to use ghost mech Higgs body too. Tomorrow combat sounds like it could be a lot of fun but I think they really have to get better at it. There's also the heart birthmark on Higgs arm left to explain.

>>736538346fuck off dollman
>>736538090Gonna reply to this post to list other mind blowers i encountered mechanics wise:-you get combat gloves in your backpack for the VR sparring trials, EQUIP THEM-landing on water/tar negates any fall damage (ive experienced) if youre on the coffin, no idea what the limit is but its a useful trick-the rolls give you I-frames, but so does blocking a melee attack, for a weirdly long period of time, youre basically immune to damage for several seconds-the multi lock launcher puts all unassigned rockets on the last lock, so for big BTs, only lock the weak point once and immdiately fire, for groups of ghost mechs lock the big ones last -the “golden watcher” fire supports canonically kills humans but also destroys their corpses so no voidouts happen, no one seems to mind or care if you kill people with it for some reason. Its even marked as lethal in the weapon wheel-the coffin board can be loaded into a truck-you can infinitely stunlock the big coffin mechs using the combat gloves-you can instakill the big coffin mechs with a sneak attack if you have the combat gloves-the tar cannon and boomerang use sams blood (like a DS1 weapon) instead of custom ammo like the rest of the DS2 blood weapons
>>736538632>-the tar cannon and boomerang use sams bloodi thought the tar cannon used the tar in the ground when you deploy it
>>736538305Theyre insane. I also forgot about them a lot but ONE chronobiote is like ten seconds of slo mo. I had like 300 for the higgs fight and only had tome to use like six before he died. Its a nearly infinite resource given the hives give you like ten if you have the climbing gloves and grab them from outside of their detection range
>>736538346The white man has trouble counting single digit numbers, and keeping track of his cargo.
>>736538721It does, but if you aim it at a BT (or Neil/his grunts) it adds sams blood to the tar, mounted or not, drawn directly from his blood bag or health bar.
>>736538632>you get combat gloves in your backpack for the VR sparring trials, EQUIP THEMpizza-do is better though. legit spammed that shit all the way to the end.
>>736538632>landing on water/tar negates any fall damage (ive experienced) if youre on the coffin, no idea what the limit is but its a useful trickThat one is wrong, I was on a river and there was a small legde, figured it wouldn't damage anything. Big mistake, landed on water and my cargo got damaged, though not by much>golden BT support fireI tried that one in a survivalist camp, some of them got yeeted into death while the rest of them got alerted. I was hiding in the tall grass without my backpack, called for golden BTs again then a survivalist threw a grenade my way without actually seeing me, one shotting me. It's probably better to use mid fight rather than in stealth
>>736538346>Sam, did you remember to wipe?
>>736538767oh okay that make sense. i also remember there being a tip about shooting through blood grenade clouds to lace your bullets with blood and they do more damage.
>>736538817Its often better, once the coffin mechs start showing up i prefer the gloves
>>736538835Hm, ill look into that, i fell a crazy distance into tar lake on the board and was fine, might have been a bug. Also the BT support thing sucks ass, its just interesting that even dollman doesnt care if you murder people in that specific way
>>736539014It might've been because my case was with water. Maybe cargo doesn't get damaged on tar, though it feels like something the game would mention to you at least once>even dollman doesn't careIt is pretty fucking funny that nobody gives a fuck if you kill people that way
I beat the game and have like 700 unused APAS enhancement points. Why even have this system if youre guaranteed to be able to afford all of them.

I haven't finished the game yet, but is Sam actually properly immortal? I know he can't be killed due to the whole repatriate thing, but considering he still apparently grew up into an adult man normally, I figured he would eventually die of old age related shit like normal, is that not the case?
>>736540323Surely he does. And if he doesn't, surely chiral winkies are a thing>>736540436I've been wondering about that>reach ancient age>keep dying from old fart disease>shit pants>repatriate again and againAll we know is that he can die properly on the beach

>>736542996PC online gets shared with gaystation online so you get maxed out structures with a bazillon likes as soon as a region is online, it's shit
>>736542996Playing offline is the best way to play DS1 and 2. The world is yours to tame.
>>736543089>PC online gets shared with gaystation onlineThat doesn't matter (unless you don't want to touch gaystation owner structures), it should've synched some lvl 1 structures at the start, and after some time, region deliveries or something like that added more structures or leveled the existing ones. There's even an APAS unlock that sounds like it should do that.
>>736543321It does matter, I don't everything built for me as soon as I link up a place. The roads were already built too, it made me feel irrationnal rage. I had to put the online structures setting to only some mid playthrough because I never had to build anything for myself otherwise. I like the online aspect of the game but not when it's like that. Mind you I started playing merely 2 hours after release, every online structure popping was from console players, tons of level 3 structures everywhere
>People are thirsting for Higgs
>>736542617It also drastically increases stamina and durability drain. The one "good" change is that it increases Sam's momentum and the affect of cargo weight so he trips constantly on rough terrain or when overloaded, but I don't think difficulty is the right word because holding the triggers is still 100% stability on pretty much all terrain. It also makes vehicles worse because small drops and rocks fuck your cargo up.

I didn't realize people cared so much about the plot until I read these threads. I guess I bought into the "Kojima is a hack" propaganda a bit too much and didn't give a shit about the story at all. I like some of the shots though.
>>736544010Jared Leto Joker trying out for a KISS cover band.
>>736544471It gets retarded at times and there's a lot of cringekino, but it's still very enjoyable. It's always been that way with kojima games so I'm not sure why people would pretend it started getting outrageous with death stranding. There's some very good stuff, like the entire sam, cliff and BB story. And no matter how retarded it can get, you still get beautiful visuals and not only in cutscenes. I was surprised with how good some story bits in 2 look, all while punching robots
>>736544471I honestly can't see how Death Stranding is any dumber than Metal Gear and people are obsessed with the plot of those games
>>736544010I bet that you didn't notice how Higgs had Amelie's haircut.
I am going to paint pic related with ghost mech colors and you cannot stop me
>>736525072Finally understand now why this game had basically zero cultural impact or discussion after the PS5 launch last year.I enjoyed it a lot, but I'd say the story is Kojima's worst other than MGSV and Australia is boring as fuck compared with the original map. There was so much opportunity to make Aus feel unique and alien compared to what you're used to from DS1, but it feels like it's just been part of the UCA the whole time - the infrastructure buildings are all the same and already in place, everyone uses the same terminology, and there's basically no new worldbuilding that wasn't already covered in the original. No part of the story or exploration even came close to the feelings DS1 gave me, like first reaching Port Knot, the final section towards Edge Knot, getting stranded on the beach, the return journey. The only bits that will stay with me were the opening to Minus Sixty One and the bit where Sam comes to terms with Lou's death. The story has a very disjointed feel to it that reminds me of MGSV - there's barely any plot for most of the game, then there are just randomly inserted cutscenes and boss fights that feel very arbitrary. Higgs was great, but again, felt completely shoehorned in.
theres a hot spring in the animal sanctuary!i am now at the point where i dont even need any components on my back apart from a couple grenades so i can go full patches autism
>>736547773The battle to F8 was pretty great and probably the highest moment of the game for me, but overall I agree with you. I love sand deserts so I didn't mind the western part of australia being mostly that. There weren't enough weird/not hard just annoying :^) to reach shelters like the inventor. I'd be lying if I said I didn't love it, but there's a lot of issues with it.
>>736547847uhh bro your guitar patch???
the BTs near the lone commander scare the willies out of me despite them being utterly trivial to kill and I don't know why
>>736548102>their screeching>their eyes>the fact that they don't spawn a catcher but instantly void you out if you get caughtNow if only they could stop moving so much when they get hit with the blood boomerang so that they could be hit again on the boomerang's way back. They take 2 boomerang hits to kill and if they don't spaz out you only need to throw it once, but they will spaz out most of the time
>>736542618>He wouldn't ghost Sam like he does.He doesn't really have a choice in the matter any more.
>>736548281The red samurai can clearly talk
do I buy this or crimson dessert?
>>736548619maybe buy crimson dinner first
>>736548678but i've not even had my crimson aperitif
>>736548054The F8 fight was a decent setpiece, but the DHV bombardment made it kinda trivial and it went pretty much as expected, fighting all the same enemies again.Compare that with Edge Knot in DS1 which felt completely alien with the jellyfish BTs, having to cross the tar lake to reach it on foot over the submerged buildings while being chased by the whale BT - F8 didn't hold a candle to it imo. Also no moments like carrying the antimatter bomb over the mountains, Higgs planting a nuke in your inventory, no deliveries where you have to carry someone else other than the adventurer ones.DS1 kept throwing in surprising curveballs, but DS2 just feels very bland and safe by comparison.
made me chuckle
>>736548102I feel the gazers really needed a buff - in DS1 it was often near impossible to drive through a BT area in a vehicle without getting caught, but in DS2 I could just drive straight through BT areas on the tri-cruiser, get spotted, but barely ever actually caught because you can just outrun them.
>>736529659Fuck why didn’t I think of this
I'd like to thank all the porters putting down cool guide posts with colors that enhances the locations/atmosphere Its really neat to see
>>736549693How do you change the color ?
>>736532485NTA but how’s the endgame exactly? I heard there’s some character, probably Dollman, who repeatedly tells you to uninstall the game and move on with your life or something. Also no spoilers please, I’m also one of those autists that take forever with main deliveries
>>736543969>"Help, my dad is in trouble">Find him almost freezing to death on the side of a cliff>"Thank you for saving my dad" >The dad posts how he is grateful but will keep on adventuring>You have to save the same guy 4 more times from more and more retarded situations culminating on him risking a voidout for basically no reason beyond curiosityI honestly wanted to kill him throughout the arch, what an utter retard.
>>736531793It does get a bit tedious walking in a straight line. Back in the first game you’d have to weave around boulders, ravines, and rivers (unless you’re a sadist that likes to hear Lou cry). Here you can almost just aim at the waypoint and just push forward for ten minutes
>>736549802For me it was mostly 5 starring places because there weren't enough standard orders to do it when I was still going through the story. I did all orders on LLL twice in DS1 but didn't feel that same drive in 2 and stopped playing shortly after getting the 100% achievement.
>>736549802That hasn't happened to me. The end game is primarily just finishing the side content with as much time as possible. The main things with the end game is that one city can't be delivered to until the game ends and one of the preppers don't allow 5 stars until you finish the game. Beyond those two examples, the end game is just finishing everything you can do in the regular game. A major development with finishing the game, and it's not really a spoiler, is that you can turn switch between a safer persistent world or a dangerous renewing world. Essentially, you can set the game to not have end game enemies and all BTs that you kill stay dead permanently, or you can turn that off and have the regular respawning BTs alongside end game enemies running around. You essentially choose to turn the block on or off depending if you want to grind for chiral crystals or get into gun fights endlessly for fun. This is a toggle in the menu and can be changed at anytime outside of combat.
>do a few orders in australia>unlock travelling on magellan>go back to mexicoI will now 5-star eveyone in mexico
TAKE ANY CHANCE THAT YOU CAN FIND. ANY LOVE OF ANY KIND
>>736532667I did every possible standard order in the first game. Once I 5-starred every shelter and LLL’d every order available, then and only then I crossed the Tar Lake into the Western Region. And in the second fight with Higgs, when the two start punching each other and Sam exclaims random grievances about his life it felt much more impactful because I did all those orders. It’s like I knew firsthand what Sam was feeling because, yes, the game is fun overall, but holy shit some of those standard deliveries were a bitch. But Goddamn, those last handful of chapters are fucking kino
>>736549802I have played the end game for almost 80 hours and haven't had any NPC tell me to uninstall the game and move on, but I just got the Homo Liberans achievement last night, so maybe it'll say something if I played it some more.
>>736549243>The F8 fight was a decent setpiece, but the DHV bombardment made it kinda trivial and it went pretty much as expected, fighting all the same enemies again. Not for me on TWW, it took out the smaller enemies but not the bigger ones. Also I didn't think to stock up on special allows cause I didn't use it before the fight which kinda sucked. I still had like 15 shots worth though.
I don’t like when they’re mean to Rainy :(
>>736533632Personally, I don’t mind that a lot of standard orders are locked to the point where you’ve already upgraded everything. By the time I got Higg’s custom weapons in the first game, I had already cleared all the standard deliveries, so there was hardly any need for the upgraded weapons
>>736550321Yeah I was also on TTW and it didn't kill everything, but I found the surprise attack before Sam gets lit much harder than the assault on F8. Definitely died most to that just because of how aggressive the enemies are and how close they spawn to you.
>>736550452> These people are chasing a pregnant woman out into the cold rain by herself with no supplies, all while throwing rocks at her and trying to hit her with sticks> One actually hits her in the stomach > "OH MY GOD IM SO SORRY"Why would they only give a shit THEN that she's pregnant and incredibly vulnerable?
>>736550452I didn't really understand why they were that mad since her power stops when she's indoors, which is what 99% of surviving people are in the Death Stranding universe. Really, she should be basically left alone because she doesn't do anything if she just chills indoors. I get the idea if, even if she were inside, it would never stop raining, because the timefall attracts BTs and it degrades the shelters and bases.
>>736550590I think they're chasing her off, they don't want her to hide somewhere close by like she was trying.
>>736550590It's a woman who hit her on the belly, do you expect women to be rationnal ?
>>736534449If it’s trucking you’re after, DS2 has a much larger and more complex road network than the first game. And they also added a neat little auto drive feature for those long hauls. There’s also the music player but most of the songs aren’t very good for trucking, or anything really. And of course there’s also the guns mentioned by the other anons. The truck design itself does suck though
>>736534726Just play on easy then. It’ll make enemy encounters a non issue
>>736550659I mean, she was still leaving, just going slower and looking for shelter along the way, like any normal person would. Them hurling rocks at her already shows pretty clearly that they don't give a shit if she gets hurt, but then that one lady just flips and gets all apologetic about maybe harming the baby as if they aren't effectively chasing her out to die out in the wilderness anyway.
>>736534995I say this
Found it annoying that the climax of the original trailer turned out to seemingly just be a red herring that isn't explored any further - I guess Sam was just hallucinating again?I'm going to have to do everything I can not to watch Kojima trailers in future - completely ruined MGSV for me by giving a misleading impression on the plot, and I feel similar about DS2.I was most hyped to see the 'SHOULD WE HAVE CONNECTED' theme to be explored - my interpretation of the trailer was that things had somehow gone very wrong post DS1's ending and I thought that would be the core of the plot.Turns out it's barely explored at all and wrapped up with one of Kojima's worst ever deus ex machina moments when D-H shows up and instantly ends that entire story thread just as it got started.
>>736550692The auto drive feature sucks because it can't auto drive with boosting. The music player also sucks because the music stops whenever you're near an enemy base or BT area which happens a lot even on the roads. Hell there's that one road that makes you go through the survivalists camp. Not that I mind, it makes for fun planning and deliveries. But not being able to clear a camp while listening to music with the music player SUCKS
>>736535567I killed two porters accidentally when I walked past them with a busted can of vox leaking in a cargo carrier and the leaking gas killed them as I walked past them. >>736551074>incredibly annoying and pointless character that adds nothing to the gameAlso found it incredibly hard to be sympathetic to him when he explains his back story and how he became dollman - what a fucking idiot
Why are Dollman's animations choppy?
Building the roads is the coziest shit ever. Idk why you nerds keep complaining about them. If anything, I get angry when a road paver already has a lot of contributions from other players >the hiss of the paver receptacle opening >the metallic clunk of Sam shoving materials into the receptacle >the two beeps as the paver turns around and aims at the road to be>the high pitched whirring of the road being printed >the rocks and concrete cracking together to form the road >the whoosh sound once the road is finished >the little trombone note congratulating you for finishing the road >the 1000 likes from APACFuck yeah
>>736551509So fucking cringe, holy shit
>>736551509Cute scene, even Sam's cringe singing was kind of endearing since you almost never see him act silly outside of him yelling shit while travelling.
>>736540042Trucks and ramps have never mixed well. Only use them with trikes and speed skeletons

>>736551609t. Feet too big for his bed
How did Sam manage to gather such a harem?
>>736543887>make a pajeet the retarded failed adventurer who needs constant rescuing by a superior White man And people say this game is unrealistic…
>>736551652Sam's autistic reaction is the only reason I even bother watching these cutscenes. Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks.
>>736551606I didn't bother with roads in DS1 as I wasn't that bothered about ticking off all the standard orders and found the game more fun with just rugged terrain. Was going to do the same in DS2 until you get to F7 and Dollman tells you that you should take time to connect up F7 with infrastructure to make the next order easier.Went back and built all the roads across the map to get to F7 which took about 10 hours, only to find the next order wasn't even fragile/breakable, is just one small package, then there aren't any further story deliveries involving the rest of the map, and the road was even useless for the inevitable return journey mission because you can just go like 3km west from F8 to get back to the plate gate...
>>736544471It’s really weird honestly. The gameplay itself is fantastic. The story is… weird. I get why people shit on Kojima and I find it hard to take the cutscenes seriously, but at the same time, no game has ever made me cry like a bitch as much as Death Stranding. When that CHVRCHES kicks in after the ending cuts to black, holy shit, dude…
wtf was the point of Rainy at the end of it all? That bitch serves zero narrative purpose, she's just there to grow grass every now and again in some places. Why is she even along for the ride with us
>>736552069>she's just there to grow grass every now and again in some places. That in itself is pretty important
>>736552069Its kind of weird considering her power would probably be extremely sought after even with the shitty side effect considering she can basically just cure anyone affected by timefall, probably also able to restore old and broken artefacts/technology as long as it was small enough too. As long as she stays inside, the rain side effect isn't even that bad of an issue, is it?
>>736548227They void you out immediately? Damn, never realized. Glad I found out the easy way
Was Fragile always this aggressively French?
>>736552028Yeah, being left stranded on the beach while the credits roll and CHVRCHES played was the peak of the franchise for me - nothing in 2 even came close. The half twist about Sam coming to terms was the closest, but that was undermined a bit by how obvious it was - though it was something of a revelation to realise just how damaged Sam really is considering he's mostly portrayed as just an autistic man who barely reacts to everything going on around him.Putting the controller down to focus on something else briefly and 'Are You There?' playing while Sam sleeps and keeps muttering to himself about Lou got me though.
>>736549243The music truly elevated it for me, but then you can say the same of the impactful moments in 1. If there's one thing that's a solid 11/10 in 2, it's the OST. Ludvig Forsell really did a great job for both games. Now if only there were new resting songs in 2>>736550834One of the early trailers had led me to think that Tomorrow and Higgs knew each other
I only played DS1 on PS4, so I wonder, how do you guys play the game on PC? with pad or keyboard+mouse? if KBM, how do you manage the lack of terrain vibration feature that is on the pad? and if you do use the pad, is there aim assist?
>>736552381Honestly when the early trailers came out I figured that Tommorrow was either gonna be Sam's kid or Higg's
>>7365523923rd party controller, KBM is a bit too messy with this setup.
>>736552309The smoking in every scene was funny, even if they tried to explain it as her being depressed.I'm actually not huge on Lea Seydoux's performance in English speaking roles generally - in DS1 it felt very phoned in and like she didn't really understand half of the lines she was recording. I did feel her performance was significantly better in 2 though and her performance felt less like a dodgy ESL
>>736552392There's an upgrade system that gives you aim assist.
>>736549582Yeah they should have made it so if you drove within a meter of the gazer, then a big arm would popup immediately and snatch you off your bike.
>>736552507I thought her acting was way worse in 2 except for that one cutscene where she beats up Higgs
>>736549353Also found those thumbs ups he gives you during cutscenes so soulful. For some reason it always reminds me of that scene in Pulp Fiction where the mob boss’s girlfriend calls John Travolta a square and gestures a square figure with her fingers and they edited in a drawn square in post production. Shit just comes out of nowhere

>>736552501how do you sooth the baby though, I remember that on PS4 you needed to use the gyroscopic feature of the DS4>>736552546on DS2? what about DS1?
>>736552381>If there's one thing that's a solid 11/10 in 2The only caveat I'd give on that is the licensed music, which to me felt much better integrated in DS1.There was nothing for me that compared to the vibe of Asylums for the Feeling playing after first coming down the hill towards Port Knot following the first BT area. The licensed tracks in DS2 felt pretty random to me and didn't match the gameplay in the same way - then towards the end just shamelessly recycles tracks from DS1. Also incredibly annoying that they only start playing like 300m from the delivery terminal, so I had to just stop and put the controller down every time instead of continuing. It wasn't an issue I had in DS1 and I had it every time in 2.Not sure why the licensed stuff couldn't start playing when you first set out on the delivery, or at least like 1-2km out.
>>736550014>>736550076>>736550310That’s good to know. Keep on keeping on, anons
>>736552737On the keyboard you just press w in a timed manner. With a controller that doesnt have motion sensing, you just move the joystick.
>>736552737Just hold LB to focus in on Lou and then move the control stick a bit, Sam just does a little shake of the pod as you do.
>Okay. What kind of porter are you?
>>736552762I'll agree with that. While I ended up really liking magnolian songs, the majority of the licensed songs didn't really hit hard. The only ones that left a lasting impression on me are cliffhanger and not around. I couldn't even tell you when the others play in the story
>>736550452>chase down a woman just to tell her to fuck offI fail to see the point. I like Rainy but, fuck, her backstory makes no sense

>>736552945Yeah, those tracks felt like they were hand-picked in DS1 to match the story beats and atmosphere during that section, where DS2 feels like they just had a list of licensed tracks and just randomly inserted them at various points.
>>736553000>Tomorrow is in your handsI KNEEL KOJAMBO
>>736552737No aim assist in DS1 but since there's so little combat and it isn't very hard it didn't bother me really. And me missing all the shots fits thematically since Sam has no prior training with guns
>>736552995I like that one, but I can't even tell when it played. To the wilder playing upon leaving F8 was kino, I'll admit
>>736552995I wouldn't count that as a licensed track as it was written for the game. Still also didn't leave me with much of a feel compared to Minus Sixty One and Are You There.

Anyone else feel that the Neil stuff felt like it was added at the last minute? >>736547773DS2 seems like a middle finger to everyone who loved the first game: retcons out the vazoo, the worst story kojima has ever written, twists so pointless and predictable that you wonder if the game is calling you retarded...I absolutely loved DS1, it will always be a special game for me, one that made me truly feel something. the ending is one of the best in all of vidya. when the second one was revealed, I instantly had a bad feeling about it, because I knew, they would have to retcon tons of shit for the sake of sam being the protag again. his arc was beautifully finished only to now make lou his real daughter for bullshit reasons and diminish a lot of the impact of the first game: like his WIFE (here she is only his fuckbuddy for a few fucks) killing herself because she is having his dooms baby and seeing it's nightmares which drove her to killing herself. something so tragic and traumatic just retconned with the worst anime magic I've ever witnessed.making the gamer believe AGAIN lou is gonna die, can't work twice. I felt NOTHING. I KNEW she wasn't dead, I knew she was tomorrow with anime magic. they had to kill off someone though, for the ""impact"" so they went for fragile, the second most endearing character after the baby and they did that in the most braindead way possible.I enjoyed playing the game, but the ending soured me so much, I struggle to finish the post-game content. that world just doesn't feel right to me at all. a game made for the haters of the first one and at the dispense of the lovers of the first one. >>736554192Yeah - I kept waiting for some big reveal that never came other than the extremely predictable APAS twist that immediately gets invalidated. Also, the whole idea is that they're trying to create another plate gate, which just doesn't end up happening?
>>736552069She fixes Fragile's grandma body so now you can imagine having sex with her without worrying about her gross wrinkly old woman body like in the first one. I immediately thought after that moment when they explained that Fragile's body was young again that Sam was going to kiss her at some point and I was right

>>736554394Its “about to happen” per SSS posts in the endgame, and we see a new gate in the epilogue cutscene, so i dont think its fair to say it doesnt happen, its just going to mostly be a DS3 plot point
I Neil…
>>736554229I get what you mean. DS2 does feel like some aspects of it are a disservice to fans of the first game. And, yes, DS2 shitting all over what should’ve been a happy ending in DS1 is egregious. DS2 is incredibly flawed, even more so than DS1 which I didn’t even think was possible, but I still enjoyed it. Not as much as the first game, but I still like the game overall. My only hope is that if they ever make a Death Stranding 3, they don’t bring Sam back. Hell, they shouldn’t have brought him back for Death Stranding 2. I love Sam and all but he should’ve been left with his happy ending in the first game and just had you play as someone else in the second game. I kind of agree with you, but, as someone whose favorite game ever is Death Stranding, I still kind of liked Death Stranding 2. But it’s a simple fact that Kojima caught lighting in a bottle with the first game, we’ll never get anything like it ever again, not even from Kojima himself
>>736554229>the ending soured me so muchThe fan service was too much for me as well - I was on board at the point where the DHV suddenly reveals its rocket boosters and starts flying around in an inprobably way, but I did feel the DHV-BT voltron was too silly and hard to take seriously. The guitar battle didn't really work for me either - the fist/strand fight from DS1 was much more enjoyable from a gameplay perspective imo, even if the DS2 fight was a better spectacle
>>736553953I remember thinking the old sam reveal was going to make the game take place with Lou being an adult and the main character of 2, it just being a 3 minute thing where he immediately undoes it was basically just doing something just to make theory crafters have something useless
>>736554454If it’s from an order, try to recall it. Bring up the order in the pause menu, there should be an option to recall the delivery and respawn the cargo in the shelter you got it from
>>736554494Fixed
For me personally, the only plot that really didnt land for me is the idea Sam’s kid was in danger of being stolen by Bridges in the Neil flashbacks. Really? Bridget’s Bridges? Bridget, as in the lady who caused the Death Stranding to save Sam, is okay with his child being stolen for the exact program she killed sam over? Sam and any of his family should be sacred cows in Bridges given the incredibly regretful and emotional Bridget, sams SURROGATE MOM, is in charge. I think its a super easy plot to fix too. Just make Neil special in some way and have Bridges think the kid is Neil’s. Thats all you have to do to fix it.
>>736554461She wasn't dead yet when the healing happened, she's healed even before she meets sam, she has a young body when she's taking care of Lou. Fragile doesn't die until Lou gets taken by the spirits on the beach when Higgs tries to kill her.
>>736554674 Yeah that’s the only way to do it if it’s mission cargo. Pause > Orders > select the active order > Recall Cargo. It’ll yeet the coffin back to the distro center/shelter you picked it up from.If it’s lost cargo and you “entrusted” it, you’re kinda fucked unless someone returns it online. In that case just cancel it and regrab a fresh one if possible. The coffin orders are annoying as hell about distance triggers, you walk 5 feet too far and the game’s like “lol guess you didn’t want that.”Keep on keeping on, corpse delivery boy.
>>736525746>It's an abstract kind of feelplaying the pc release of ds1 years after it came out was like using a dead social media website.no one was liking anything anymore, but you could see other peoples structures and that they had likes on them.but those people were all gone now and it was sort of frozen in time.
>>736554454I always throw it away or destroy it if I accidentally got stuck with an order like that. The packages scrub once you're far enough away from it like any other orderIt kept happening when I'd borrow trucks because everyone throws on the sticky guns which will pick up deliver request packages. If you destroy a package with a gun or something, you can recycle it and be done with it.
>>736554703lol I did started to do that, but I wanted it to be perfect pixel wise and it would have taken too much time so I gave up
>>736554759Also it doesn't really make any sense to fuck with a man who can't die. How do they plan on stealing his baby without him going invincible John Wick on them?
man, in hindsight DS2 was pretty disappointing. the last third felt like a slog and I couldn’t quite pinpoint why at the time. but now that I’ve gone back and played the first game for a few hours, I think it’s because the terrain in DS1 was just so much more engaging to traverse. the map in DS2 is bigger, but most of the time you can just walk forward without thinking. I barely used vehicles in DS1 because I actually enjoyed walking, something I can’t say for DS2. It’s frustrating because they added all these quality of life features and improved the map menu, but it all feels pointless. and this might not matter to most people, but I actually prefer sam’s character model and the porter suit from the first game. his head just looks way too big in the sequel. there are a few other things that had more style in the original like the vehicles, but I guess that’s just me nitpicking
>>736529357>pure fucking suffering honestlyyou wouldnt get it

>>736555078Imperfections are sovl
>>736555537true
>>736555138I felt the more linear nature of 1's map made the sense of progression and journeying feel more authentic. There was more build-up to climbing the big mountain in the background, then coming down the other side through the geyser area and out into the plains before Edge Knot.In 2, the mountain is super easy to climb by comparison as it just has big snowy slopes without obstacles that can get you up there, then the whole area around F7/F8 doesn't really feel any different to the earlier points in the game
SAM
>>736557567>Hey Sam I know I'm supposed to act like your therapist, but why don't I just do all the talking for both of us?
>>736555138I have read this complaint a few times in past threads and I'm not sure I agreeCertainly when you say this, you're thinking of a specific location in DS1, right? What exactly are you thinking of that wasn't easy to access by car in 1?I'll give you the first mini map, it's definitely harder to traverse then Maxico. Wind Farm and Port Knot are hard to reach with a vehicle, and Musician is a bit annoying too.But the second map? You can drive up to anything easily. Elder you might struggle on first visit before you find the correct path to drive up with and then it's a nothingburger. Collector you just get out of the truck and use a rope to get down. Timefall Farm and Veteran Porter look like they're out of the way, but in reality driving up to them is nothing either because the mule territory out front doesn't actually do anything.>First PrepperThis one is like the stand-out prepper in the game. He's annoying to reach definitely. The last 3 preppers in the game, Geologist, Paleontologist, and Evo might seem hard to reach, but in reality all you do is build ziplines between the 3 of them and just circlejerk back and forth to 5* them.So I really don't get saying that DS1 was hard to navigate or anything, it was really just the first prepper.
>70 hours in>"Get some rest in the DHV Magellan">get some rest in the DHV Magellan>INTERMISSIONeither this game is long or I'm retarded
>>736558161Just depends on how many standard deliveries/road building you doMy friend beat it in 60h, took me like 90
How do you stealth kill guys that are riding the truck?
>>736558467Stun bomb, phantom gas, thrown electro spear(?)Generator discharge as they drive byIf they're alone you get a prompt to pull them out of the vehicle when you walk up stealthily
The DHV was so underwhelming for the most part from a gameplay perspective.>Can't explore outside your private room and the shower room>Can't talk to most of your crewmates outside cutscenes>Can't use it as part of your delivery network because packages apparently don't survive the journey for reasons despite other objects aboard and your garage etc not being affected by the tar>No cutscene or anything when using it for transit>No variation in animation when it's on a location - it just rotates awkwardly on the spot for some reason like it's doing a DHV equivalent of T-posing.>At the one point the game actually starts encouraging you to take time to build up your distribution infrastructure, the game locks you out of using the DHV to ferry resources around.>Dumb Metal Gear Rex reference did yoo rike it?
>>736552729Heh
>>736543089man this was such a bummer, i was really hoping for a crossplay setting to disable this. the network play aspect of ds2 was just fucked for steam: avatars don't work, everyone already has thousands of likes, etc.
>>736558467Tranq gun usually. If you don’t need the range of the sniper rifle, the pistol is the better pick, gets way more ammunition and has about the same damage and drop, though it’s slightly less accurate.
>>736560230Kojima rarely takes the time to flesh out stuff like this, same with MGSV motherbase. I think he just wants to do too many things at once and loses focus. Still, it is really cool.
>>736560230I actually liked it for the most part, but I never really tried to use it for much. I wish it was a lot more customizable, since it’s a private room you can take with you wherever you want. My biggest problem is that it can barely carry any resources. Not only is that one of its most useful potential roles for road building and stuff, since there’s no penalty for moving resources with it, but that also determines the size of its magazines for fire support. You can just shove the private locker full of a trillion pieces of resource cargo anyways, so it’s not like limiting the resources is a significant balance decision, it’s just tedious. Why are random preppers willing to carry more for me than my own ship?
>>736560889To add to my own post just so I don’t end up with a overly long one, I feel like the resource system is strained slightly past breaking point in DS2. It’s now so full of dumb eccentricities. having to pull cargo out of your truck so that you can put it on your back so that you can auto organize it so that it can take up less space is insane. There’s still no reason whatsoever not to loot 100% of the chiral crystals from every single prepper you visit besides the Magellan. The opportunity cost of not carrying resources with you to fix roads and monorails encourages you to just constantly use the truck, which is a problem because the truck isn’t fun at all and removes most of the games movement mechanics. The mines don’t tell you what resource they make until after you fix them for some freaking reason. There’s no way to tune the sticky gun on the truck to only pick up certain resources so it ends up grabbing chemicals and special alloys you probably don’t need.
>>736560657tbf re MGSV motherbase they had to tone down their plans because Komani said the game had to work on PS3/X360 and they couldn't get a complex motherbase to run on that hardware, which is why all the platforms are comically spaced out. Also, clearly an unfinished game.
is there a no combat mod for ds2 yet?
>>736561429I actually really like them being spaced out. It makes the place seem huge, it feels weirdly grounded, like one of those quirky details with a real structure there’s some scientific explanation for you’ve learned about on YouTube. But mostly, I think it makes a lot of sense after what happened to MSF motherbase. You want version two to be as decentralized and bomb resistant as possible, best way to do that is to make the platforms totally independent of each other and outside of each other‘s blast radii if something went wrong.
>>736561197also if i want to play truck driving simulator i want a cozy fucking cab that will shelter me from the elements like DS1 rather than being suspended on the front of it like a retard getting pelted by dust and dirt and shit and getting melanoma while i'm driving
>>736554229I agree, probably to the point where I don't necessarily even look at DS2 as a continuation of the story so much as I see it as some sort of gaiden
>>736561571>it feels weirdly groundedfelt the opposite to me - far more expensive to build and harder to maintain, incredibly inefficient, much bigger target, far more exposed to bad weather conditions, easier to infiltrate
>>736554589>My only hope is that if they ever make a Death Stranding 3, they don’t bring Sam back.Who would you have instead? I think it would have been an interesting idea to keep with the idea that repatriates are extremely rare and have each game follow a different repatriate.
>>736561768I mean, based on the ending, feels like it could only be Lou as the protag?
>>736561823I guess I was moreso referring to the next sentence in the post:>Hell, they shouldn’t have brought him back for Death Stranding 2.as in, if DS2 didn't have Sam who would it have had instead? I guess Lou could still work in that scenario
neilvana round 3 is actual dogshitthe first two were so kino and im on my 20th attempt on this hoping i dont get instakilled again, or the game bugs out and doesnt load him, or sam grabs his shoulder instead of aiming the gun one more fucking time
entire clip of the rocket launcher directly into neil and his goons, directly, and none of them diefucking stupid
>>736562832Grenade pistol/launcher made these fights trivial as you have plenty of ammo and can just repeatedly stunlock them
>>736562832I had the opposite experience. I brought the lightweight multi lock launcher to Neil 3 (on TTW) and he basically died instantly, I didn’t even bother aiming at the goons, I could kill him before they could damage me.
>>736542290>Why wouldn't you play on To The Wilder. Is there any point besides getting approval from tryhard losers on an anonymous basket weaving forum?
>>736563476im now on 30+ tries, the last time i get up top, have no ammo, aim the grenade in the middle of them and neil teleports beside me and instakills meon ttwim so fucking bored of this its atrocious
This tryke design is dumb as shit.
>>736525072>Finally connect the second map>2 preppers leftIT ISN'T FAIR.jpg>>does nothing wrong in u're pathWhat the fuck was his problem anyway? I'm sure this next large cutscene will explain.
Hideo Kojima doesn't want me to play this game online. The PSN login feature STILL doesn't work and the problem still hasn't been fixed. i'm convinced sony banned my steam.

>>736563981they don't go nearly that fast lolyou're better off sanicing and double jumping around from charger to charger with a speed/boost skeleton, and once you get the surfboard they're obsolete.
>>736561768Basically what you just said - have a different repatriate take over for Sam. Fragile and the rest of Bridges can come back but they should’ve just wrangled another autist to do everything for them. Could be a totally new character. Hell, could’ve used Neil for that instead of making him Cliff 2
>>736563882Damn. I dont think i ever died to neil, youve got some bad luck. You might wanna find a previous save and bring some lock on rockets.
>>736564089>Tripfag>Connecting>His Steam to a leaky security nightmareYou now manually remember PSN was GAPED: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_PlayStation_Network_outage
>>736564456Oh, I should add, pro tip for the lock on launcher, the rockets come out of it in a sort of flower petal shape, so if you’re aiming straightforward, half of them end up hitting the ground. Lock onto an enemy and then point it like 45° upwards before firing and they’ll all go up and then down onto the enemy
>ignore the goons>hit neil directly with every single rocket, he yells in pain after every hit>hes still alive>manage to pick up gun>entire clip required to get him to die>go up stairs, round two, i have no ammo, theres no guns>die in 4 hitsim losing my fucking mind here kojima

>>736563981Finally, an actually soulful criticism of the game

>>736563882Have Chronobiotes? If not, you probably want to reload back a few saves and farm them. Spam Chronos and nades them, you'll clear them before they can scatter, generally.
>>736564613>25mphid be surprised if trucks even go that fast boosted on roads on a clear day.
>>736564735Yeah if you ever want to ruin the vehicles, drive in first person. Feels like youre walking.

cant wait til this is $30 ds1 was so fuckin good
>>736565070>Sony releasedMight be waiting a while, unlike 505, Sony doesn't understand the PC market.
when do I get speed boosters for the trike?I do get some right...?
>>736565069I do want to give the devs some cred for how fast they do seem at first, truck aside. I think its the light posts on the roads, theyre so packed together compared to real life that the impression of passing them se regularly makes the vehicle seem faster than it is without having to spam post processing effects
>>736565070yeah with sony publishing its never going to discount it very heavily especially after fucking nobody bought this game on ps5. it's a fantastic game but behind the scenes i can't imagine it being profitable for a long time.
>>736565168Speed booster for the trike is called “ditching it for the coffin board”
>>736565168You don't need one. It goes faster than the truck, especially off road?
>>736565168no that's what roads are for. bike is doubly worthless when you get the coffin because you can cart that around on your truck anyways then you can just stop in an area, surf around yo collect chiralium, cargo, etc. surf back to the truck, unload, and continue on.
>>736533379>Not having a SPAG truck for regular deliveries
>>736565351but we had a speedy reverse trike model in the first game
>>736536296He's the second BB28
So why is being the child of a repatriate so important? Like what does it actually do? Why did they make Lou into a BB if being the child of a repatriate was so important?
i beat neili did it, the ordeal is overi got so lucky with pizza attacks, which apparently three of them is greater than literally 14 rockets im so exhausted
>finally connect f4>some faggot has a border nearby that blocks network coverage of the pavers to connect to f1>look it up and apparently you don't unlock the prepper until the game's almost overfuck that shit i'm paving anyway, i dont care what the resource cost is metals and ceramics are unlimited with the mines anyway.
>>736566030We have no idea if it means anything at all. Sam is only a repat (and has his other DOOMS abilities because Bridget revived him. Bridget also revived Lou at the end of DS1. So, Lou being special in DS2 might just be because Bridget made her a repat like Sam. We have no evidence that her being Sam’s kid matters, Bridges just assumed that it would.
>>736566327which one? I think the only prepper that you can unlock end/post game was like BPAS or Mr Impossible. which is still aids but not as bad as the Fisherman
>>736533810Another neat touch I haven't seen mentioned yet was when you go through the plate gate, you can see in the reflection that Sam's BB pod is ruined and cracked. But if anything threw me it was the tentacles in the pod if you let Lou's mood get too low. I thought that would amount to something, maybe Higgs fucking with Sam somehow, since he was able to control BTs in the past.
oh no its not over, theres a whole final section where neil can kill you in three bullets while teleporting around nonstopthis is dog shitim literally taking this game down a whole point because of this entire segment
