What was the true purpose of Stone Tower?

To seal away a giant pair of bugs in hammer space.

I figured it was where Majora's Mask was created but there's a problem with that theory considering it somehow left Termina at some point, it raises the question of "how?". As for it's purpose I like the theory where the people there tried to dethrone the Goddess of Time explaining the upside triforces and other details around the area, which may or may not have led to Ikana being cursed when the tower was opened up by Majora / Skull Kid who probably weren't even related to the curse. Another good mystery is the paper plane there.

it's a monument to the hubris of the ancient terminans. they wanted to reach the goddess of time, but instead their tower to heaven became a tower to hell. majora may or may not have been sealed there at one point, it's not clear.

It is all but confirmed that it is this. The only reason Nintendo hasn't confirmed it is because they hate validating fan autism.

I think most of us can agree that the Stone Tower was meant to assail the heavens. Does that mean Twinmold and other monsters inside were meant to serve that purpose? Or were they created by the Goddesses as part of the curse instead?

Even if that weren't the case, it's also one of those stories that is way more effective when we're the ones saying it instead of them.
