Can't believe they thought making a poker game with three horribly obnoxious characters was a good idea.

Why are zoomers turning on Tycho? Like I dont know if its zoomers cause I am an old one (23) and I know all of the characters but for some reason I am seeing a ton of hate for Tycho from people who have only played the remastered.

Also why is he so bald?

Its cool to act like you find random over the top humor "cringe" or even stupider "Disgusting"
So when tycho starts rambling they just go
>Did bro really say X? [Skull emoji]
For easy engagement instead of saying something even worse or stupider
>>
>>736574587
Is there a mod that deletes all of Claptrap's lines?
>>
>>736574505
Profitable enough to make a sequel.

(Partially because of the TF2 items)

>>736575168
There is litearlly only like 20 voice lines for each character. Tycho's get grating after a bit.

Plus they didn't grow up during the "Good" era of Penny Arcade (before Dick Wolves and the whole art degenerated as Piglike lost his ability to draw).

I hate that there was ever a time that people liked Borderlands. The first was boring as hell, full of timesink quests that were nothing but busywork. But for some reason enough people gave 2 a chance.
>>
>>736579559
Borderlands still has a stranglehold on the genre it basically pioneered. If Borderlands 4 wasn't such an unoptimized piece of shit (open world was a fucking mistake and it's absurd that the game plays just fine any time you're in an instanced area) I would have played it more.
>>
Why I am so bald?
>>
>>736579559
People want to play diablo fps edition, and borderlands is the literal only game series that does that. Everyone else who tries seems to forget some crucial aspect of the formula.
>>
>>736579782
That or they try to sell you the loot, which is surprising that Randy never went that route. Borderlands DLC hasn't been any good since 2 but at least all the actual gameplay stuff is stuff you have to get by playing

The writing is 1/10 abysmal dogshit but if you fundamentally hate that kind of gameplay, that's on you.
People will give Diablo 2 or Nioh a 1/10 simply because they don't care about farming, that's not an objective commentary on the gameplay, that's just them not wanting to play a game like that in the first place.

"Farming" is fine if you can distract the player enough from it with compelling story or breathtaking backdrops. But Borderlands (at least 1, the one I played) was 100% people talking to you in recordings or over the radio, and it's just the most retarded take on a Mad Max setting, with pushover bosses (hitting the weakpoints is even optional for god's sake) and terrible characters.
I would be singing a different tune if I liked any aspect of the story being presented to me. Or the resolution of the story. Or... literally anything.
So it's not like I can't be pleased and am just completely unreasonable or not the target audience. I'm a huge FPSfag, so I'm already halfway there. They just did a really poor job with it and I absolutely hold it against them.

see
>if you fundamentally hate that kind of gameplay, that's on you.
Diablo 2 or Nioh have neither. You could ignore those aspects of the game and just finish them in 10-20 hours, sure. But those games are made for people that just like doing the same 2-10 minute stretch over and over again to see things drop.
>So it's not like I can't be pleased and am just completely unreasonable or not the target audience. I'm a huge FPSfag, so I'm already halfway there.
Again, speaking purely on the gameplay, I don't think it was for you. I'm not even saying the gameplay doesn't have problems, only that, even if it was without problems, the gameplay loop clearly isn't what you're into. The same way Diablo 2 doesn't have a compelling story or breathtaking backdrops as a reason to farm CS for 2000 hours.
>>
>>736580775
Alright. You could be right. You're being very reasonable.

max is more annoying than thyco desu
thyco is at least short with his dialogue mostly max has a lot of longer annoying lines that are also not funny
>>
>>736575168
Tycho is from an era of internet the younger zoomers don't know or don't remember well.
>>
Always wondered why Tycho and not Gabe?
>>
>>736581298
in the strip gabe is the goofy simpleminded one and tycho the snarky one, he's more of a contrast to the other three personalities.
I have a better question, do we really need this thread every two weeks?

Definitely. If Gabe were at the table, there would be 3 energetic spazzes thanks to Max and Strongbad, with only Heavy being particularly smart. And not even Tycho's brand of showboat-y intelligence.

>>
>>736581803
The joke isn't "LOL holds up spork." It's that this deviant is making everyone at the table uncomfortable (including you, probably). It's not an asspull for the character, either. He's at several points in the comics described his freakish fetishes involving eldritch tentacle shit or a giraffe or whatever.
>>
>>736581952
max is also a degenerate freak but he doesn't come off nearly as tryhard as tycho does

So you're saying the joke has gotten oldsville
>>
>>736575168
as a zoomer, I think that when we look at the writing/humor of Penny Arcade (and other old webcomics), the qualities of it that later went on to become cliched and overdone within its time stick out to us the most; we see it and say "that's some typical boomer/gen x/millennial shit"
whereas an older person that read those old webcomics when they were made probably sees more of what made them unique at the time, the commonalities between the media that was contemporary to them sort of just become cognitive background radiation
I'm not a psychologist though
