Any of you fags been playing any games with path tracing or ray tracing, how's your experience so far?

the fuck is the point?

Should've turned on path tracing instead lil bro

I stopped caring after that experience

Played Metal Eden demo and Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray tracing. Both are incredible. But Metal Eden in the release has been downgraded. It struggles less but I'd rather struggle and graphics.

I don't care much about resolution. In fact I hate it.

I'm waiting on the soon to be released ps5pro patch for Cyberpunk but I expect it'll suck out all the soul, looking like the worthless switch 2 version or something. It already looks good, I should be content with that, but greed.

Path tracing I expect would be better but AMD doesn't do it.

Chorus is unplayable with raytracing on PS5pro. 30fps is worth it for ray tracing usually, especially with motion blur. But not for space/flight sims. Or needing to aim stuff. Metal Eden had and has very good aim regardless of framerate. Everyone that complained about Metal Eden should have been taken out and shot. Months passed without release, just to downgrade it. Now no motion blur or movies or shine/reflections. Thanks assholes. Never ever listen to people complaining about something awesome.

I've been thinking about getting a rx 9060 xt 16gb, seems like a decent deal for what it is. Path tracing is still a problem but eh, at least I can turn it on just to see if it's worth it.

My RTX 3090 makes 80 decibels of noise when running at full throttle. That's just 5 dB below the limit for human safety. That's why I always keep the graphics settings as low as possible. My comfort is more important than seeing light bleed, messed-up shadows, reflections that take forever to appear, low-resolution mirrors, etc.

Kek, sounds like you need to replace your GPU thermal paste, anon. And maybe undervolt it.

Cyberjunk is the only game I've played with it and it's a resounding meh. The game looks better with it on, but that's really only because it looks awful with it off and just okay with it on. And having it on causes a ton of ghosting/disocclusion problems and certain areas of the game are way too dark. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem except this shitty ass game about a high tech future where one of the very first things that happens is having your eyes augmented and boasts about its dynamic lighting system has no night vision and no flashlights. God, what a shitty game.

I hate when they do this. Gay tracing is le dark or le bright. Fuck off already.

Good luck. I have sentimental attachment and don't sell anything. With that it's worth getting the best that is available.

I'd say save up and get a RTX5090. And use it. Make games. Use moonlight (remote play) and have the best experience you can on a phone.

GPUs only get better but if you wait you generally wait forever. Better to get something great than to waste time tweaking too. A good GPU that costs a lot is a great idea. That stops worry about it being obsolete. And gives you performance a generation ahead. And sometimes subtle details are all the difference between enjoying something and not.

Not too hard to have a better GPU than a console though. Next Gen is said to be 40tflops. RTX5090 is 100tflops. Current gen is 10tflops.

I saw an add on gumtree for a RTX3080 for $120 AUD several years ago, probably 3. There are good deals if you look for them. Probably better to get an old good card than a new ok one. Check the tflops, and or game benchmarks.

Better on the power bill to use denser chips (newer) though. NVIDIA usually release cards on a process shrink. Haha, maybe most of their performance increase just the same shit denser. They did that with the 9800gtx I think which was just a 8800gtx on a denser chip.

The power connector shit is a big worry though. Probably worth it for someone that knows what they are doing to set it up. Should be simple, but somehow it isn't. People are getting fried cards using a large connector instead of a couple smaller ones or something.

They simply shouldn't make new mid range cards in my opinion. And only do so to compete with second hand, and keep prices high. I think it's monstrous to take a good chip and then intentionally degrade it, to sell it cheaper.

Solution might be to unlock chips in software. So everyone gets the best, but only uses what they pay for, and upgrading is just buying more of the chip you already own. Would be cheaper for all, but hackers would probably fuck that up.

Nvidia could control hacks by driver. Games needing newer drivers for newer features and better performance.

Then have deals, Christmass, Easter, birthdays. Whenever. Their own shop for games too.

So buy some extra performance when it's on special.

Have a very large, combination air conditioner+system on chip. 10,000tflops or something.

SERVE to reduce the costs of upgrades. So most of your chip is used all the time by others, you reimbursed for power and discounts on unlocking more of the chip for yourself.

Something really powerful. And pay by how long you play, using all of it and at least a few others. Games made with little/no limits.

Cross graphics hardware off the list of things that need to be improved. And work on mechanical systems you can step into and run around in to run around in game, while staying stationary and getting fit, and competent. Fingers etc getting feedback. Even dick.

Good for interactions during viruses. And invasions. Keeping body relevant. In and out not so different. Skills gained in games applicable without a buffer translating controller to action. Have muscle memory from adventure.

I also do this and I still have my Pentium 3 and 4 computers. They don't turn on anymore and it's pretty much junk though. But with GPUs that's the worst component to stick around indefinitely, both manufacturers are trying to make older gens obsolete constantly with new tech. And two gens from now a mid tier GPU will perform close to a older high tier card while being way more efficient.

128gb cards will be entry level in a couple years, get ready for the path tracing golden age

They already found a way to keep selling 8 GB cards for the next gens.

If it's available, it's on. I haven't met a game with path tracing that I preferred it off with yet. It's literally closer to ground truth rendering than rasterization or even generic ray tracing by orders of magnitude. Plus when you have a big dick waterblocked 5090 that clocks to 3.1Ghz core and 32gbps VRAM while staying in the 30s Celsius who gives a fuck if it's demanding. Play that shit at 4k 240hz with DLSS Quality and MFG and still max out my OLED in everything.
