Do you ACTUALLY like Silent Hill music or are you posing?
I enjoy the first game's music, the rest is pretty meh
>>736579294Only the ones that are actually music instead of horrific ambiance
how do you "pose" liking music?>>736579383outside of the otherside music, every subsequent entry has a better ost.
>>736579294Literally finished listening to the first soundtrack minutes ago then I see this thread
>>736579434>how do you "pose" liking music?Have it in your Spotify and skip it whenever it comes up
What was your favorite track? Mine was "Malfunctioning Cement Mixer- the Remix pt. 2". "Grandma's 1972 Zenith Washing Machine Throws a Belt" was a close second though.
>>736580649Mine honestly is the intro to SH1
>>736579294I just like Theme of Laura. Never played the games. But that song is in my playlist.
>>736580649sickness unto foolish death
>>736580649Not Tomorrowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDgjTP8fuz4
>>736580649You're the type of faggot to think NIN is lame. Couldn't pay me to associate with a Lame-o like you
>>736582428NIN has like four good songs
>>736580649Theme of Laura overall but the vocal tracks are also really good
>>736579294https://youtu.be/iyfyHMnWx8E?si=TmRTqKiUF9oq_Bm7>*steals you're gaijin music*Nothing personal, gweilo.
>>736579294Eileen shaving
>>736580649Only the combat music is like that. The best songs are trip-hop
>>736579294The second games soundtrack is a masterpiece, yes I know the best tracks are based on twin peaks, akira yamaoka actually did them better. I'm replaying it now and anyone who says SH2 isn't scary has never played it alone in the dark in a completely empty house with the volume on high. The after dark section is still one of the most unnerving things I have ever experienced, especially when you turn off your light and become one of the monsters. The ambience just gets under your skin in a way that no other game has managed since.
>>736579294It's not something I would listen to on its own, but it's very good at setting the tone in-game. Silent Hill 1's soundtrack in particular does an amazing job at creating an oppressive atmosphere.>>7365794342 and 3 are still good on that regard, but I don't think they quite live up to the original.
>>736583643meh, I'd say 2 is probably the weakest at otherworld music. It also doesn't help that I think 2's otherworld is kind of lame and not that scary.3 is alright, but as you said, they stuck their landing with 1 and never really reached that height again. The otherworld in 1 is still spooky to this day.
For me, it's Room of Angel.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX6GmN4usKY
>>736579294I always liked thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdqNshgDwtQWe need more mandolin
>>736579294I do. I honestly really love Homecomings OST the most and think its underrated. SH1 thru 4 have the better hits no doubt. Homecoming has a lot of great songs too.>>736580649kek but really those are great songs too
>>736579294>>736581627When I played SH1 for the first time a few years ago I remember just sitting there and listening to Not Tomorrow for like ten minutes.Yamaoka is honestly a god in his ability to pump so much emotion into such simple and/or short tracks.

SH4 OST is one of my favorite albums everhttps://youtu.be/9f4aWcnUXbo

I love all of them. SH1 ost is my favorite and ain't gonna rain is one of my favorite tracks

>>736579294Yeah
it's harder to point out bad songs from SH than good ones
>>736579294Only Akira Yamaoka's
>>736585036This, legit sh4 have best soundtrack period, all of the songs have this werid, strange energy. I can name them all wothout looking for it. I think I like travelling through portals of reality the most, but all of them are really great. My friend (rip) gave me soundtracks to all 4 games, somewhere in 2005 i think. I used extensivly for paper call of cthulhu rpg, but sh4 was the one I listen on a normal basis.
>>736579294>Do you ACTUALLY like Silent Hill music?Yeah! I went to see Akira Yamaoka play his best Silent Hill hits live.
Remodelling is my GOAT
>>736580649Rain of Brass Petals. The version without voices.
>>736579294I've had the "Promise" as my ringtone as long as phones have had "melodic" ring tunes.I also blast "Alone In Town" from time to time if I want to just chill.
>>736580649theme of laura, because im a basic bitchremake version is good too
>>736594063how do you go from this to picrel
>>736596325She ate her father
Wild how niggas pretend SH music is on par with stuff like Final Fantasy
>>736597424yeah, it's so funny how they compare a pile of garbage such as FF ost to a masterpiece like SH music
>>736579294https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYGVHJqma_IWhile the game wasn't very good, this track is definitely one of my favorites from this franchise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enHmnTPsp9w
>>736597424who said anything about final fantasy
>>736600937>make an incredibly beautiful and heart-wrenching song that fits Heather's story perfectly>don't use it in the game>use the lazy remix of SH1 theme with Joe Romersa's cheesy ass vocalsI hope that was Konami's decision because otherwise my opinion about Akira Yamaoka would go drastically down

>>736594063Why is she so rapeable?
>>736602186because you shit into your own mouth
The archer and the beast is one of the scariest things i've ever heard.
>>736602719that boss fight is incredible. Fade in from black to a room lit dimly by a torch burning a body. some nightmarish contraption spinning around the body. camera pans down, Harry is just dropped right into the room like he doesnt belong, behind the flame comes crawling out the lizard with no warning or word. SH1 genuinely feels like you are playing somebody's nightmare it is INSANE
>>736603126i hope the remake doesn't butcher the game too hard, i feel like sh2r was scary but had way too much combat, at least everyone complained about it so they know what to fix
>>736579294I never play horror games but the soundtracks of the silent hill games being so good is what convinced me to actually play them. I only played the first 3 though.
>>736603224I think the remake will be a good game but I'm not sure it will be able to translate the same feeling of SH1 into a new game. SH1 to me benefits so much from the aesthetic which was designed around tech limitations of PS1. The remake will be working with PS6 tech as a basis so they can just expand every little detail as much as they want which is a huge trap for remaking SH1. Like in that lizard boss fight we were talking about they will probably add an introductory cutscene where Harry stumbles upon the lizard in the dark and gets startled and the lizard roars or whatever. Im worried about that + the people they cast especially for Harry and Lisa. Those two have to be PERFECT they can't afford a performance that is less than stellar for those two like they had for remake Maria (she wasn't bad but the problem was that she wasnt perfect, that character had to be perfectly performed and she wasn't)
Silent CHILLhop
>>736579294I think every sequel until SH4 has a better soundtrack than the last. I love Room of Angel. It's the saddest song of hatred. Exactly the kind of song for a couple who despised the baby they didn't want and left it to die after birth.
>>736604738>Exactly the kind of song for a couple who despised the baby they didn't want and left it to die after birth.Sigh... SH4 has such a kino lore. I really wish Konami had let Team Silent cook SH5.
>>736580649https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQUQLpO-8H0
stfu with your sh4, everyone hated that game but i guess its cool now to love it and say how its actually good
>>736606913the game has problems but to act like there are zero good aspects is just really fucking
>>736586092SH1 is the only game in the series where ear-rape songs dominate the soundtrack. SH2, SH3, and SH4 have a lot more relaxed music that ranges from trip-hop, piano, alternative rock, pop, and grunge. There's a reason why Akira Yamaoka doesn't have the SH1 OST on his youtube channel. He's not very proud of it. It was the start of his career, and he didn't know what style to pick, so he decided to make the soundtrack as le SCARY and in your face as possiblehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xagBTcI2Wmo
>>736605287And when it comes to videogame storytelling it isn't even subtle. Most of the stuff revealed about the story is right in your face, whereas these days 2deep4u games would probably be criticized for not obscuring everything under layers of vagueness, otherwise it isn't artistic enough.
>>736579294The OST was part of what got me into the series at all so yeah.
>>736607564>There's a reason why Akira Yamaoka doesn't have the SH1 OST on his youtube channel. He's not very proud of it.I doubt that's the reason. It works well for in-game music in tense situations but not so much to just sit and listen to outside of the game. That doesn't make it bad or mean that he's not proud of it. >It was the start of his career, and he didn't know what style to pick, so he decided to make the soundtrack as le SCARY and in your face as possibleHe said Nine Inch Nails was his inspiration at the time. Sounds like you're just making a bunch of stuff up.
>>736606913SH4 is unironically my favorite video game of all time. I'm not even joking.
