Any dude in Ike's position would have dragged Rhys to Ashnard's warm and bleeding out corpse to sanctify the marriage between him and Elincia and consummated the marriage right then and there. But here lies the problem, the outline for RD established Ike as coming back from his Mercenary life to save the day. And it's established that he hates the noble life and would rather go do crap and get paid. If he marries Elincia, this would be his new life, not his mercenary life anymore. So how does IS reconcile these character disconnects? Handwave it away with "Ike doesn't pay attention to girls". IS has done this kind of "hand waving" already with even in Shadows of Valentia. Saber travels with Celica across the continent protecting her. Saber is a bachelor with no family. Celica is drop dead gorgeous, nubile, and relies on him for protection. if it were written realistically, Saber would have been fucking the shit out of Celica and would have made her his woman. But they handwave it away with "Celica looks a lot like my little sister".

More importantly, he was the ONLY person to show him compassion at that time. So when Greil went berserk and started a massacre, kid Soren didn't Ike's body in the wreckage, so he concluded he was still alive. So what was kid Soren to do with his life? Try to find a village to take him up when every laguz tribe and every human village ostracized him? Or go look for the one person who treated him like a fellow human? Hence Soren's mission that extended over years to find him; hence him ending up at Greil Mercenaries as an officer where he finally found a home and family. The relationship between Ike and Soren is lopsided, but it's platonic.

I have cleared sacred stone's post game for the first time. Now I can confidently say it sucks and I see why no one cares about it. The tower isn't even worth discussing and even the last floor has weak enemies no more difficult than the end of the story. A complete waste of time. Ruins enemies certainly have higher stats than the main story but once you beat the game you have the ability to go buy 20 stat boosters to counteract the enemy stats. You get a ton of exp too so your whole team easily hits 20. I saw someone else mention ruins 7 having annoying shadowshots (3-10 dark magic) to deal with but I didn't have any on the map other than a single reinforcement that spawned next to me in attack range. If this is actually a random enemy thing then maybe you can get unlucky and have a harder time I guess. The main issue is that the enemies have terrible ai. You have a couple that rush you at the start of each map and after that the rest just sit still until you're in range and don't do anything. There's sometimes reinforcements that rush you too, but usually only 2 spawning at a time so again very easy to handle. There's only a couple maps that spawn thieves to punish going slow, and since the chests are all random loot it's easy to not really care about it since it isn't any better than the random loot enemies carry. There's a couple maps that split your team up so I guess you need to be able to handle that, but it isn't really an issue.
