Item transfer in to NG+ ain't shit, it was how you lost your customized space ship and space bases. Space ship customizing was sorta expensive but fiddly work in that customization screen, and base building was just ass.
>>736593462The problem isn't actually solved. Most points of interest need specific environments, plus specific terrain features to be eligible to spawn. If you land in an exterior cell on a cold, barren, rocky planet and there's no suitable mountain or crater for the three or four pickiest points of interest in the pool, you're still going to get a bunch of repeats. Just not right next to each other. And even if there's a suitable spot in the cell for one of those locations, there's still no guarantee it'll be rolled instead of a more common location. It's just more likely than it was before because the system excludes duplicates within a certain range. The smartest way to have fixed it would have been to just flag those especially picky locations and ensure that they always spawn whenever their conditions are met. Sure, you'd lose some of the "Every playthrough is a little different" effect. But it's not like always getting the Desecrated Ball Stretcher Lab on the highest mountain in Cell bQXrG29 on Planet Buttholio IV b is such a compromise when everywhere else gets shuffled. Most players aren't going to even register that's what's going on. They might never find that landing spot on Buttholio IV b ever again, or think it's remarkable that they found that location.
>>736597317But you can enter a planet without opening the map, just enter scanner mode and hold whatever prompt it is to land. It also works with travelling to systems where your next mission is.

>>736603513You can't understand why no one wants an abundance of loading screens in modern games?
>>736603569it's a very divisive game and highly depends on whether or not you like scifi or not. You can always pirate it since it has no DRM and it's worth a punt if you enjoy scifi, if you vastly prefer fantasy you should be playing crimson desert instead because that game and starfield share similar DNA.
>>736603609With the advent of NVMEs, no, not really. Starfield did have too many, but TESVI having as much as Skyrim wouldn't be bad.

If you want to play in space, play 4X, Elite or Star Citizen. All of them offer a better experience.
>>736593453>ability to fly between planets withing a star systemso like any other space sim game ever created? wooow
>>736604050Which doesn't actually solve the worst problem around them.POIs are completely static. If you complete a POI and see it again, if you remember it you'll know where every enemy, prop, values and everything is. It's always in the exact same spot. The simple fix is to simply create multiple spawn points and choose a set when the POI spawns allowing for the same POI to be varying, to some degree. Instead the POIs are EXACTLY the same in every regard.
>>736604328Actually not though. Because you still have a loading screen to get to that planet. Even Space Engineers lets you fly down directly.
>Actual starfield shills on the board right nowCan't polish a turd
>>736604365I can still remember my first two PoIs on a moon. It was this shitty little lab with mines outside. Then I did another and got the exact same lab with the EXACT same mine placement.
>>736593453Now THIS is astroturfing
Can anyone stop him?
>>736604285You can opt out of going into unity, they added evil companions so you're not stuck with constellation and you can tweak the difficulty to make the combat really fun. Also a lot of new quests have alternative endings now so you'll make a decision that would result in having completely different events happen. It's one of the best space sciif RPGs ever made and stands up there with Elite, NMS, Space engineers as great space games.
>>736593453>TODD, YOU CRAZY SON OF A BITCH!>YOU DID IT!>YOU BROKE EVERY SINGLE MOD all 15 of them>AGAIN
>>736604645It doesn’t change the fact that the constellation crew are the games primary companions and the ones that have the most reactivity and interaction. Adding a worse alternative doesn’t alleviate the problem.
>>736604945You're right but you're also free to never recruit them or put them on your ship because they're that boring.
>>736604457It's worse than that, everything is the same completely. There is no variation within the same POI at all.I quit the game after 3 of the same POI. The second time is when I realised how badly designed the POIs was. The third was an experiment of remembering the positions and then I finally uninstalled when I knew exactly what props, in what position and rotation was behind a locker. My playtime is 3 hours. The same POI 3 times.
What did he do, hire a even more incompetent bulk of pooshills than usual?
But what about the porn mods?
>>736602548Anon you do realize that the reviews on steam are skewed towards positive since only people who bought (and thus were already into the idea of the game) can review it?50% means 50% of people who assumed they were going to like the game didn't actually like it.It's not 50% of every possible costumer, it's 50% of the people that fell for the marketing.
Confused as to weather this is worth pirating or not. Is this game just fun for a single playthrough, blasting by with some fun missions, things to discover and a decent enough narrative?Just looking to chill out really but it would be nice if it had quality there. I don't care about exploring procedural planets, I'll just do the quests and faction stuff. Worth it for that?
>>736593453Okay, when are they going to fix the main story then?Rehasing Skyrim and making the MC Space Dragonborn was really lame.
>>736607823yeah it's literally oblivion/fo3 in spacewhile it is janky and stupid there are fun things to like about it. just don't look at it too hard or the game's limitations become apparent.
>>736597317...so literally same as every other space game ever?
>>736602304There's also a lack of hand placed items and radiant AI has been 100% removed. NPCs are slightly less static than in TES3. TES4 had the most dynamic and decorated cities from all their games. TES5 was far less but way more than everything after.

>>736603609With SSDs, the loading screen is likely faster than the 3 second door opening animation
>>736598060>selling point of the updatethe selling point they advertised was that you can fly to other planets out in space, not land on them.
>>736593453I will never launch the game again.
Knowing Todd he'll try to make his jeetgoblins poop out the remake right for Artemis IV
>>736602307>No Man's Sky can fucking do itNah, NMS also does the 'totally not a loading screen' thing by filling your screen with speed lines and rocks.
>>736609793It doesn't even hide it well because even after you get through the notloading screen the entire planet is just a deformed flat blob of 3 colors that are designated colors for the planet for another 5 to 10 seconds before the basic geometry of the world starts to form.
I'm not exaggerating when I say the only thing that made me glance at even pirating Starfield was that Starfield-chan poster a few years ago. But the game is just too dogshit to bother, and there's not even a modding scene.
>>736593453>try it>still fundamentally the same shit gameWhat'd these mongrels do in the name of Todd?
why isn't anyone talking about that crazy SW mod pack
>>736604645No. Nothing you said is remotely true.
>>736593453>this is why we still don't have Fallout 5 or TES6It already takes Bethesda far too long to make a game, but now they're spending even more years beyond the release date of each of their new releases to try and "engooden" the slop that they made. They did it with FO76, and now they're doing it with Shartfield. And yeah, it's nice that they're sticking with these games and developing them BEYOND THE RELEASE DATE into something that's actually playable, but all it's doing is further delaying the games that people actually WANT to play. Where is FO5? Where is TES6? We won't see them until the 2030's at this point while Todd wastes years trying to fix this slop

>>736614137>you're just gonna call TES6 and Fo5 "slop" when they releaseIf they continue this modern Bethesda trend of releasing a broken, half-finished game and then spending the next few years engoodening it, then yes, I'll call it slop. You should too. Stop simping for Todd, stop being a good little consumer whore, and call things out for what they are.
>>736614972is there not yet? i havnt played in like 10 years lol i thought they nailed the flying, landing, plants combat, sound design stuff like that, could've used a lot more content but just the basics seemed solid
>>736600620They forgot to make a tranime to go along with it like cyberpunk did. Whatever marketer said to do that should have got a fat bonus
>>736615030But it's so impressive bro. No other open world game does it. It's not just a gimmick whose novelty was lost after the 360 era. Every other open world dev has been making strides towards eliminating loading screens like RDR2's seamless interiors, Spider-Man 2's quick travel and TOTK's overworld layers, but can I put an apple down in those games and still have it be there 3 weeks later? I think not, and that's why Todd is a genius.

>>736618754>Most AAA games like 4-5 years to make This isn't true across the board, but okay, let's go with it. FO76 came out in 2018. We're 8 years away from that right now and FO5 hasn't even been announced yet, which means we almost certainly won't see it for another 3-4 years. That's more than a decade between entries. It's unacceptable and, frankly, unsustainable for the brand. You can't ask fans of a series to wait 10+ years between entries and expect that to be a good long term strategy. Eventually people are just going to give up and move on.

At this point I'm content to just wait for Skyrim 2 or Fallout 5 because at least there you know they're going to overcorrect from Starfield so hard that you won't be able to go 5 seconds without running into some new random bullshit, instead of having to go eight loading screens to bounce around an empty area.

>>736621345Jeremy Soule is a nazi bigot chud
>>736593453The update is neat and all, but at the end of the day, it's still Starfield. A lot more has to change at a foundational level in order to consider it an "engoodening".
>>736621438Thats the beauty of space
>>736619151It's wild that they can't release games by any reasonable metrics anymore. And todd's only excuse is they've been making fallout 76, despite that being done by bethesda austin, not maryland. Bethesda took like a decade to make starfield and it was shit. and they're nowhere near elder scrolls and they've lost most of the developers who made the originals, so all they got is the starfield devs.

You know a Beth game is shit when it's been close to 3 years and there's still no porn mods.

>>736612540I tried it a year ago and it's pretty damn fun. But under the cool new stuff, it's still Saarfield at the core. I'll probably reinstall whenever the mod gets updated.
>>736594527POI!
>>736621389The opportunity cost is my entire point, retard. Bethesda is already slow in making games, then they spend 5+ years making slop that no one wants like Starfield, then they spend another 5+ years trying to engooden it, and that's pushing their other games that people want to play, like Fallout, into a release schedule of more than a decade between games. If they can't handle their workload, they should be licensing out some of these IPs. If Starfield really is Todd's passion project and he wants to spend the next 5 years engoodening it, then hire someone else to make Fallout because 10+ years between installments is crazy
>>736621983Lmao if SAARfield is Todd passion project then I'm the president of america

>>736622076Pretty sure he said that somewhere. Starfield only exists because it was the game that Todd really wanted to make
>>736622304>Nothing unreasonable hereFallout 76 was made by bethesda austin you inbred shill, bethesda maryland makes the mainline elder scrolls and fallout games. And the last game they made before starfield was fallout 4.
>>736602507This is how games should be.Starfield is for me.DEI pandering aside, surveys show that black and trans communities just don't get Starfield - it's incomprehensible to them - and that's great.
>>736622421You're going to try and tell me what my own point is? lol. If you're a Fallout fan, you're looking at more than a decade between games, in part because Bethesda takes a long time to make games, and in part because they waste years on shit like Starfield. I can't make it any more simple for you than that, retard.

>>736623316
>>736616262unlike Fo4, you dont have to mod RPG elements into starfield, as it has bethesda's best character creator, which allows for actual roleplaying (ex. if you dont pick a background with piloting skills, you simply cant fly a ship and you have to be ferried everywhere or be stranded). it also has the best dialogue/persuasion system BGS has ever done. additionally, starfield does space piracy like no other game - the process of destroying a ship's grav drive, then disabling the ship with EM weapons, then boarding it and going room to room, clearing enemies and fighting to the bridge in zero-G is incredibly satisfying and more smoothly implemented than any other game i can think of. all that being said, i am 100% a mod guy and do recommend them. for instance there is a gore mod that adds some much-needed teeth to the setting (large-calibre weapons can decap, blood violently vents from bullet holes in spacesuits and sprays across walls etc)
>>736622751And to be honest, I'm being quite charitable in counting from FO76 instead of FO4. Many people, myself included, don't even really consider FO76 to be a real FO game since it's more of a multiplayer spin off developed by the Austin team. There's a reason it's not called FO5. So in reality, we're already more than a decade since the last real FO game (FO4 released in 2015), and again, FO5 isn't even on the horizon yet. There is no defense for this
>>736622751>in part because Bethesda takes a long time to make gamesThey as long as most AAA devs, you are wrong and retarded. 4-5 years for a AAA game isn't long.

>>736612883>Where is TES6? We won't see them until the 2030's at this point while Todd wastes years trying to fix this slopThey have explicitly stated they weren't even gonna start elder scrolls until they were "Finished with" starfield. Depending on how you interpret that, that could mean when it released like 2 years ago; now, because they just shipped what could be the last major update; or it could mean they haven't started it yet at all because they aren't "finished with" starfield until some unspecified point in the future. The literal best case scenario for TES6's release is 2030, roughly 6 years after they released starfield, and probably rushed out the ass. (Starfield took a literal decade from start to release, 12 years if you count until now, so that isn't outside the realm of possibility for TES6, but I am just assuming microsoft will tell them to get it out the door as quick as possible)That means the best possible case scenario for TES6 will be 19 years after skyrim's release. You could be born after skyrim released, become legal adult, start college, etc, all in the time it took for them to release the next elder scrolls game. 5 years longer than the famously mocked Duke Nukem Forever took to get released. Now what a worst case scenario?Lets assume they start development of TES6 today, and take the same roughly 10 years it took for them to develop starfield to develop TES6. >>736646429>Your ship has limited amount of fuel so you'd have to plot a course on how to get to certain trade planets with enough jumps to get thereid guarantee plotting courses has nothing to do with navigating gravitational forces or even asteroids, its basically as deep as an indie game from 15 years ago>pirates will attack you inbetween jumps in certain zones and now in cruise mode as welli bet its indiscriminate of where you are, what you're doing, what your ship has, just random spontaneous attacks for no reason and no way to get out of them besides fight or at best pay some small fee>>when you arrive at a UC or Freestar collective planet, they will scan your ship your contrabands goods which you have to hidewhat, in space? and what if you have something?>>have to get through security checks if you have certain contrabands just to enter a city to get to at tradernot space
Whenever I think about starfield I just remember how fucking insane it was that they released melee in the state it was in at launch. Melee couldn't use the crafting system at all and your best weapons did like 20 damage when guns were doing 200 damage because the entire gear system revolved around upgrading you weren't finding higher level weapons you were finding upgraded versions of weapons.
>>736646867>#9 for the first day it comes to that consolebro your mother wouldn't even put that achievement on her fridge
>>736646848>I spend more time in menus and loading screens than actually playingthis is every game made after 2020 that seemed cool. all style zero substance. just inventory management dressed up with high resolution scans of the most zimbabwean nigger who ever lived
>>736647236my mother is proud of me no matter what, i hope yours is too.
>new update? mite be fun>check rutracker>200GByeah nah, I'm good
>>736647152pirate it bro
>>736647289my parents aren’t proud of me, and they don’t even know the shit I’ve done and continue to do. can you buy me the game so I can make them proud?
>>736593453did the fix space combat? I really liked the shipbuilding but it got pointless real fast.
>>736647415just pirate it bro
>>736647441Depends on what you mean fixed because they added space travel between planets so you can fly there now. You can tweak space combat so it's harder and more fun too.
>>736647340It's 141 without language packs and extras like the soundtrack and artbook.
>>736607613Starfield has less mods than Fallout...literally JUST franchise
>>736647518I mean the "bigger is better" and only one weapon worth using which really stunted what kind of ships you can build
>>736645873The point would be going from POI to POI between planets but historically the kinds of brain dead redditors that play space games always complain thats unrealistic (its not, at the point of a space faring civilization solar systems will fill up with stuff very quickly) and annoying (space trucker dads hate it when their marvel comics fan podcast gets interrupted with gameplay.) TL;DR Space games are a forever cursed genre because the people that play them are boring gigasoi retarded millennials who get the games they fucking deserve.
>>736647931>the point of a space game is skipping the space to do the actual gameplay and by that i mean the exact same gameplay in nearly every other regular game
>>736648121Nigger faggot.
>>736593453So does this game has any interesting lore or creepy locations?
>>736645873you're travelling through space. there's literally NOTHING there. what kind of gameplay do you even want out of that, the 500 million years button?
>>736646027Using NMS as an example of a supposedly good spaceship mechanics is odd. NMS is a chore simulator, and driving space submarines is just another chore.
>>736643702There were only 29 video segments for the ending so it wasn't even close to 200 if you try to think of it that way.
>>736603110>>736603073they added a cooldown to repeating pois so you go substantially longer now without encountering a repeat. i think they also added some new ones, not sure how many.
Did they do any gameplay/ weapon balances?
I won’t pirate the game because I want to make my parents proud. Pirating is stealing. So unless someone buys me the game I will be unable to see how Todd did it this time.
>>736646027>>736648493But then, Starfield is pretty much Todd's "we have NMS at home", which makes all comparisons with NMS valid.>>736647931Well, yes, NMS did exactly that. You have to farm repetitive POIs to progress through higher-level goals, be it looking for a spaceship you want, doing the Atlas quest, learning languages, and so on. Which turns the game into an unpaid desk job.
>>736648720bwo i'm a literal half-jeet (brahmin caste at least) and I have the special editionare you from brazil?
>>736629629>niggers all around atlantis
>>736646235Don't play with things that aren't yours.
>reinstall starfield to try new update>make character, they/them>try my best to stay awake in this god awful boring shitty ass intro >alt f4Does starfield have alternate start mod? You can't pay me to sit through the worst dogshit tier intros I've ever seen
>>736597317
>>736617445There is. Since the beginning of the game there has been. It's one of the HABS you can place on your ship.
>>736595236Definitely NOT shit
>>736648840I am a full jeet and not Brahmin. Please understand sir.
>>736648810No mans sky isn't a space game its a crafting autism skinnerbox. When you take something like space salvage, where the gameplay is self evident in the process, reduce it to token collection stand ins for any danger or actual mechanics like in NMS, you're just making a parody of a caricature of a game. Its frustrating because a proper space game should practically write itself and all we get is either edgy adult bingbingwahoo like ED/SC or toddler bingbingwahoo like NMS/Starfield.
>>736649980How is E:D edgy? Its setting is even more generic than Starfield which is an accomplishment
that ship sailed long agoi have no interest in your game now lol
>Could have just taken place on one planet with space combat/stations/zero g around that planet>Would have been fine, Bethesda could have filled that easily >Instead went with an entire solar system Idiots, idiots and morons.
>>736630271No? Are you fucking kidding?
>>736622992God I wish Elite was good.
>>736593453the ennothinging of nothing
>>736597317>People actually defending thisWhy? Fucking Elite Dangerous did it almost a decade ago. Why are you making exceptions for Bethesda? A billion dollar company. Are you all paid shills or genuinely shit-eating retards?
>>736650107Delusional, the seething would have been far stronger. Bethesda's whole brand and appeal is based on having giant worlds where you can go anywhere, not being tight and focused. If they made a space game where you could only travel between a few preset zones on the planet, they would be a laughingstock.Even if it would be a better game, which is likely
Wasn't this game meant to be a sandbox for modders? Are there even any cool city/quest/companion mods?
>>736649980>toddler bingbingwahoo like NMSIt's funny because just today they released an update containing a fuckin pokemon-style battle system for pets.Somehow in the ten years since release they have managed to do nothing but add features nobody gives a fuck about, then also ceasing to give a fuck about those features. I bet the spacejanny garbage hauling isn't going to receive an update ever again.
>>736650260>Bethesda's whole brand and appeal is based on having giant worlds where you can go anywhere, not being tight and focused.Bethesda are known for the complete opposite you stupid fucking retard.
>>736650260>Bethesda's whole brand and appeal is based on having giant worlds where you can go anywhere, not being tight and focusedAre you kidding? The whole reason their games work is that they're mostly linear open worlds for low IQ munching retards.
>>736650024Its just a first person warcrime simulator at its core, which is the only realistic thing about it and its only redeeming quality.
>>736593462How did they combat thisDid they just remove cloned areas or make new ones to replace them
>>736650318They're just testing features for their next game.
>>736650384>>736650413Are these bot posts? Skyrim was famous for giving people an endless amount of samey draugr dungeons to explore in any order. Their games are not linear at all. That's why they need so much level scaling and leveled lists. Beyond Skyrim there's Oblivion and its copy paste ruins, and Daggerfall which stretched the bounds of procgen to the point of unplayability. Their whole thing has been open worlds that let you just wander around
>>736650448I assume they added new POIs and logic checks to keep a POI from being generated if it was already generated recently.
>>736650184elite shiterous is garbage and starfield is kino tho
>>736597317Its amazing Starfield costed alot of money to make
>>736650448They added 30% more POI's, and then changed cooldown logic of when and how POI's spawn, so actually in theory you can still get duplicates but it tries to minimize it as much as possible.
>>736644687that's usually how mods go, yeah. whenever cdred popped out a Cyberpunk update it broke most mods and required both the core foundation mods to be updated and then maybe the individual mods themselves needed updated, too. meanwhile some stuff is simple enough to never break
>Finish mission>New mission >Press map>Takes me to local map>Press tab>Planet map>Press tab>System map>Press tab>Galaxy map>Click new system>Click planet in system>Cant click new planet, not enough fuel>Click slightly closer planet in different system>Hold X>Loading screen>Open map>Galaxy map>Click actual quest planet>Arrive at planet>Click map>Go to planet>Click PoI on planet>Now at PoI
>>736594527POI
>>736597317>Imagine still falling for Todd's lies in 2026I don't think anyone is genuine in this thread. No ones going back to the game cause they never bought it in the first place.
NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A POWERFUL F*#KING WOMAN
>>736655205It's one of the most successful and popular games of the generation, a lot of people own the game.
>>736655205I bought it on release. Morbid curiosity. And I'm someone who has always thought of Bethesda games as shit. It was even more shit than I thought it would be. I'm sure as shit not going to reinstall it now, because I don't think it's any less shit than before lmao
>>736655280>Those games in the top 10My brain hurts.
>>736655280and yet fails to get even half the player base of skyrim. Shitfield really aint going nowhere.
>>736655359it's okay it'll get more players when it keeps getting updates in the coming years.
starfield is mystifying, it's like a space shooter with rpg elements designed entirely by a HR department full of middle-aged women who spent their whole lives in a finger-wagging type of jobs
>>736655745It's mystifying because a space shooter with RPG elements should not be able to fail to such an utter extent at everything it tries to do. It should either have great, fun gameplay or interesting writing, exploration and atmosphere. Starfield has NOTHING about it that is good.
>>736648851Fuck you, I'll touch that child's balls and you can't stop me!
>>736655745proof that old white males shouldnt be making games anymore, they're washed up.
>>736616524they are both correct. there are multiple things you can do in the game and they are all bad and boring.
>>736594527Piece Of shIt
Reviews about the ps5 or '''''2.0''''' version say absolutely nothing clear about this game and it's sus as fuck
>>736646179Do you like that black woman that looks like a man with super short hair type of character - that shit is ugly. This is the product of several hundred devs with almost unlimited resources. Get the fuck outta here. I'm sick and tired of the horrible characters. This character type has been overused way too much in the last years. At this point making a blonde woman or a redhead with long hair would actually break these devs, they would bluescreen in real life.
>>736604397considering Todd himself has been shilling games since the Usenet days I could totally see him being here in this thread right now shilling his piece of shit
lol nobody cared
>>736645741it's what No Man's Sky fags have been complaining about since that game does it
Low bar to pass but I enjoyed Starfield's shooting so much more than Cyberpunk 2077's, even after the loot rework in CP.
>>736646235That's clearly a foul though
>>736650260I think the point is that they could've made a continuous overworld.I don't really agree since on a planet scale that'd still mean lots of shitty procedurally generated terrain but I agree with the sentiment.
/v/ really does hate good games like starfield, expedition 33, crimson desert, baldur's gate 3, KCD2, CP2077, Elden ring, Armored Core VI, Resident evil and etc
>>736658852>baldur's gate 3, KCD2, CP2077,shit
>>736658851whats the point of a space game when you're stuck on a planet?
>>736593453>>736593462Half assedly, just like everything that Bethesda does.
>>736648494If there's 29 segments that means there's over 200 combinations.
Why is /v/ so tsundere over bethesda
>>736646676>8 yearsSo that's at best two more updates that half-assedly put in one thing that should have been there at launch along with some other irrelevant crap nobody asked for
>>736659228it means more starfield threads on /v/ for the next decade, isnt that exciting?
>>736655298You're a fucking retard in every way possible, even ones that contradict each other, got it
Starfield is a good lesson to devs to just focus on making good games and people will buy it and talk about it for years to come.
>>736659228i do find Bethesda's obsession on pushing those stupid Funk-O pops to be bizarre. Nobody asked for those stupid toys in-game much less in reality (yeah they're actually gonna sell Starfield toys.) Maybe Emil asked.
>>736655815You've never played it>>736656143My poor brown friend, you're practically quoting Stockton Rush, and you can't get much more "washed up" than that
emil should be fired
>>736658852Nice try attempting to sneak in Starfield to that list, brownoid
