Mahjong is the only game ever that has made me throw and subsequently destroy my property.

So no, unless you want to become a zen monk by the end.

I've played all of that multiplayer garbage throughout my life, Dota, League, Counter-Strike, and Mahjong Soul is the hardest I was EVER riled up by a game, any game, in a negative way. One day I quit Mahjong Soul and immediately after my fucking neighbours start flooding me, and I was so exhausted by that game I didn't have any of the anger necessary to process the occurrence, I just went "...eh, alright..." and started working on it instead. Recently I tried Mahjong again so I could play it while listening to some lectures that could be useless for me, and I got riled up exactly like that again so I'd rather recommend drawing or some other fun stuff like assembling jigsaws while listening to music, you'd be much better in the long run.

it's a different game when you're playing on a chink client with other chinks vs the jap client with other japs

Because you can play far better than everyone else and still end up completely financial devastated because of complete luck. I swear the number of times I have a high value hand and try to push, there's always some yakuman type shit waiting for me, or some asshole deals in to someone else for no reason. It feels like everything is out to spite you specifically.

i'm not a jap, plus soul has the largest community in general including english speakers

For me, it's the hustle and bustle of Riichi City.

How many pulls does it usually take to get a new character? I like the defaults but I’d like a change of pace at this point.

>>
>>736614243
Never watched it, but from the discussion I remember it by, the memesub is the only thing worthwhile about it. For Mahjong anime you get Akagi for serious gambling shit and Saki for breast expansion
>>
>>736614553
That's a shame.

how the fuck do you fold safely when you don't have any times that other people haven't discarded already?
i try to make educated guesses but are there useful rules for priority of what to discard in that kind of situation?

There's the numpad trick but I'm too slow to bother and just yolo.

I forget the jap term for it but if someone discarded a number, the number above or below on a numpad has a higher chance of being safe.
>>
>>736615613
Suji can sometimes be used: since the most common wait is an edge wait you can potentially safely discard numbered tiles 2 away from one of their discards because they'd be in furiten for the edge wait. If it's a tile in the middle of 2 different edge waits you need both of them discarded for it to be safe.
Other than that, you just need to know that there aren't infinite safe tiles and while you're building your hand in the first place, you can discard dangerous tiles ahead of time so you have more foldable material. Also, since there isn't infinite foldable tiles, you can instead just focus on playing safe against the opponents you deem the most dangerous

so i'm likely to get one from my first 20 pulls... right?
>>
>>736616619
You also will need to play some dangerous tiles to properly fold sometimes. Suji is useful for this as well, since if you have something like a triplet of 5s and a stray 8 in your hand you can decide that if you manage to discard one of those 5s and it passes you suddenly have 2 other 5s and the suji 8 you can play. Though if you're holding a bunch of 5s and 8s the opponent may specifically be in wait for those exact tiles because you're holding all of them, so that strategy goes both ways. You can also just decide to start throwing an entire suit out there because it's more likely they're not waiting on split suits and if you randomly choose a safe suit you can keep throwing those tiles.
>>
>>736617009
Not necessarily one you want though, and you may get unlucky, but 20 is the average. If you're fine with anyone the rates are fine, if you want someone specific, occasionally they do banners where you can choose a character to be more likely, and 200 pulls total on any banner lets you pity.
The negative thing about majsoul isn't the pulling system, but they don't give free pulls very often. You can get them from normally playing (which gives gifts you can shred into the currency that can buy them (max 5 a month)), and it goes slightly faster if you max bond a character you play as because then the bond meter starts giving you additional gifts, but it's a very slow progression.

I’m not naive enough to think I’ll get the one I really want. I’m pessimistic enough to think I’ll get one of the ones I hate.
>>
>>736616360
What is causing this anyway?

I can forgive ritz's breast expansion fetish but nopan is objectively worse than different panty designs on every girl.
>>
>>736621729
I thought the idea was she could go all out on the upskirt shots because somehow not drawing the panties was better than having panties constantly in frame to the editor/publisher

It's called suji. Tiles three numbers away from tiles in their discard pile are slightly safer because it means it can't deal into a ryanmen (two sided) wait. For instance, if someone has a 4p in their discards, 1p and 7p are safer than usual to discard against them because the furiten rule means you can't deal into a 23 wait or a 56 wait.

It also works in reverse, but only if both sides are in their discards. So, if you see a 2p and a 8p in the discards, 5p is safer than it otherwise would be. If only one side is there it's called half suji and it's marginally safer than non-suji but it's not something you should rely on.

The suji groups are 1-4-7, 2-5-8, and 3-6-9, the "numpad" thing just means you could look at your numpad and read the columns if you forget the numbers.
