I only experience Bethesda games through youtubers.To this day I have not seen a single one do a full playthrough of Starfield, not even "can you x without y" challengeslop. All footage I've seen ends shortly after getting home and meeting your dad who calls a 1911 a revolver (about as far as streamer sponsor money lasted for at the game's launch). It doesn't really get better 12 hours in.What happens is Bethesda clearly cut basic functionality out of various things and shoved them in to their shitty Skills System. And I do mean basic functionality, like being able to fully use your NASApunk jetpack and unlocking various starship systems such as the Targeting System. Also you couldn't Modify or Create anything at benches without appropriate skills.I think the Starfield skill system was a lateminute addition that wasn't tested or had any much thought put in to it.

I owe Starfield and Bethesda an apology after this updateI want to start this by saying I’m sorry. I’ve been very harsh on Starfield since launch, and I didn’t hold back. I criticized the game, questioned its direction, and honestly lost faith in it. So I feel like it’s only fair to come back and say this now.Since the update, I’m completely hooked. I ended up playing all night without even realizing how much time had passed. The game just clicked in a way it never did before. Everything feels smoother, more engaging, and more alive. It finally feels like the experience I was hoping for.I also want to give credit where it’s due. Bethesda has been genuinely impressive with how they’ve supported the game. The way they’ve listened, adjusted, and kept improving things shows real commitment.
